Review titled Awful booking service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 21 October 2024
Aveley medical and how using an AI provider for booking and it is absolutely awful. I am a young female in my 20s and can speak clearly and in plain English but yet still it didn't understand me when I wad giving my name an postcode. It's meant to reduce wait times but it wasn't able to process my request because of this, now I have to wait even longer! If I spoke to an actual human then this wouldn't have happened. I can only imagine how hard it will be for the elderly or people who can't speak properly or have an accent. Absolutely awful and they need to change this and have actual people on the line!

Dear patient, Thank you for your feedback. Please be patient whilst the systems embeds, we will encounter some teething problems to begin with but the working alongside our providers we hope to make this a seamless transition in meeting current NHSE guidelines, reducing waiting times on the phones for a all around better patient experience. For complex queries you are able to get through to the surgery, the facility to email and come into the surgery is also available. Once again thank your for your feedback, it is much appreciated. Thanks, Matt

Review titled Sent to out of hours in hours?
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Called to triage an unwell toddler in hours of the surgery to be told triaging stops at 13:00 told to call tomorrow 17 hours later. When I raised this was told I could call 111 out of hours at 18:30….i don’t understand as I was calling an ‘in hours’ service ‘in hours’ and not being offered a service? I understand that the appointments may have gone for that day but this could be looked at for the following day? Rather than clogging up the phone line at 8am. You cannot ‘manage’ when your symptoms start in line with a referral process. Highly frustrating when wanting support for an unwell child.

Now we need to E-mail or visit the surgery , I was told we could phone but now have been told no you need to E-Mail ! Why cant they get a system and stick to it .

Review titled Excellent practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Tanya Castle - Posted on 13 April 2023
I have read the reviews on this practice and I struggle to find a bad word to say about them. Always really helpful (maybe not bluebell) and really friendly. I’ve always been listened to and the receptionists are always polite and really helpful. I see a particular doctor as I prefer a female member of staff and she always goes above and beyond for me which yes does result in often waiting over an hour but I’d rather that then have a doctor that didn’t care. I often hear people moaning about how long they have waited while sitting in the waiting room but i think the fact that they have a face to face appointment should be enough!! Lots of practices are still not seeing people!!Continue the good work Aveley Medical Centre!!

Review titled Very poor practice on over the phone requests
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Brian Titchiner - Posted on 15 February 2023
I was advised, today my medical review required a further blood test, yet my review is booked for the 22nd of this month. No one advised prior to this I needed a further blood test. The rep was unable to say why the test was needed, and whilst understanding to point, just continued to repeat she was just a member of staff. The practice manager was in a meeting. On going down to the surgery, a very apologetic representative said the blood request was non urgent, and simply a routine test in 3mths, and the practice manager was not in a meeting but in fact gone home! The upshot is despite being closed for Staff training on a regular basis, no has thought to read a report, and advise a patient they need a blood test and text them, or in my case no worries pick it up in a couple of months. Not exactly rocket science just good practice. Sad to say this is not an isolated incident

Review titled Improvement
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Pam Lovelace - Posted on 05 January 2023
Having previously left an honest review of the practice that was non complimentary, I believe in giving credit where it is due. I sent an email on 4 Jan 2023 as I am feeling quite unwell and COPD was not helping with my breathing. I received a response and medication the very next day. Thank you Aveley Medical Centre, hopefully I will make a speedier recovery now.
