Review titled Really unreliable
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Amy - Posted on 04 October 2024
Emailed for a repeat prescription, didn't get it. Made an appointment online, only time available was 10 days later by call. I called to make an appointment, was seen next day. Lovely dr but missed my pain meds that we prescribed as per the pain clinic recommendation. I kept my phone appointment as I wanted to discuss other issues. Half an hour after the phone appointment was to happen, I received a text to say that it was recorded on my records that I had already been seen, did I still need the call.( the call I scheduled my lunch around!) . I replied advising that I did. Received a call an hour later which I couldn't then answer due to work commitments. Another text revived advising I missed the call. I messaged back requesting for a cal at 5.30 due to work, this was declined and I was asked to rebook another appointment. Another appointment your Dr missed! Appalling!

Review titled Completely unprofessional and uncaring
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 September 2024
Required urgent prescription and was told to email. Email sent yesterday and still no response. Called back to chase and was told to call prescription line as reception cannot see if medication has been issued (which they can). Called prescription line and no answer again. Called back to reception to say medication needs to be taken tonight and someone promised to call once the doctor has signed it. No call back. Called again to be told prescription line closed so nothing can be done. Message sent to doctor who said it was signed and sent to Pharmacy but no one called me to confirm so pharmacy now closed. Reception said "nothing I can do- I cant go and open the pharmacy can I" when I asked if it could be added to repeat prescription to allow me to do an emergency request through 111. Absolute incompetence

Review titled Impossible to speak to
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 28 July 2024
Ballater surgery do everything in their power to avoid you, their new online contact system is constantly closed to new entries, meaning even a simple admin task takes days to complete whilst you wait for them to reopen the system, let alone trying to make an appointment which is borderline impossible. Responses to enquiries are generic and don't address the questions asked, and even simple prescription requests need constant back and forth to get the right outcome.

Review titled They make you suffer with illogical arguments
Rated 1 star out of 5

I had 8 chest infections in last one year where I was given antibiotics. I was also diagnosed with asthma and breathing issues. Still now when I get symptoms of chest infections, doctor will only try to argue on phone that it is a viral infection and just try to avoid seeing me or they will give me an appointment for 2-3 days later basically to see if it is actually viral. They also contradict views of other doctors in the same surgery. Last time a doctor told me I have chest infection but I had no fever. She explained me that chest infection can be without fever. But this time another doctor told me with bacterial chest infection, you got to have fever. Since I had no fever so she gave her verdict that it’s viral without even listening to my chest or seeing me face to face. I told her I have aggressive cough with green/grey phlegm that tastes very bad and going on since 3 days and getting worse. But she was stuck with her verdict. These doctors are making nhs inaccessible for patients like me and so I have started keeping a stock of antibiotics at home sourcing from other countries!! Pathetic thing to do I know, but I don’t want to be on mercy of these phone doctors!!

Review titled No Appointments?
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 March 2024
Having been advised by the practice Pharmacist to see a doctor, I phoned to make an appointment. The receptionist advised that no face-to-appointments were available and I should apply through accurx. On attempting that, I was told that the system was closed. I tried to use Patient Access, as recommended by the practice web site, but discovered that no appointments that can be booked online are currently available. This is an obstructive, misleading and unhelpful service for anyone needing a diagnosis for heart related symptoms.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. I apologise that you were not able to book a face to face appointment and unable to contact us through Accurx or patient access. We are currently working extremely hard to make more appointments available for patients during a very difficult time. If you would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact me. Many thanks Julia Morrison - Practice Manager

Review titled Great surgery.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Lorraine - Posted on 31 May 2024
I found the admin and receptionists really friendly and helpful. Triage gave me a rapid response and it’s fantastic. A minor issue is I’m a pretty stoic person, and do not call the GP with every issue; I treat at home, use biologic therapies, tens machine, massage etc for pain, wait weeks if I get symptoms to see if they last, before contacting the surgery - but when I did call I felt I was not listened to, which is frustrating as I really try to treat at home, and when I called, it’s because I’d exhausted other avenues and the condition had lasted a while.

Sent appointment noted as face to face. Attended and was told no appointment and face to face was how system sends these messages. System needs to be fixed to avoid wasting patients time. Reply from econsult was different. Very confusing and frustrating

Review titled Great email medicine, offensive admin
Rated 1 star out of 5

Call for an appointment and, if you get through, its a 2 week wait for an appointment, send an e-consult it's same day but woe betide you miss their response as you are then met with abuse by the admin team who expect you to be be checking email constantly and not leaving the house waiting on them, don't forget they are very busy and your time is not important...

Review titled Speedy response and quick to help
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Ben C - Posted on 12 July 2023
I've always found Ballater surgery quick to respond to triage messages and the GPs go directly to trying to help. I was particularly impressed today after sending an eConsult form, and receiving a reply within 20 minutes with advice and a prescription. Considering the pressure GP surgeries are under, this efficient approach makes such a difference. Thank you!
