  1. Review titled Efficient and timely care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Paul - Posted on 11 November 2024

Booked GP appointment due to concerns about lump on head. Appointment was very clear and efficient. Immediate antibiotic prescription sent to my local pharmacy and referral for surgical procedure, which then came though for appointment within 2 weeks! Subsequent notification of updated prescription was sent to me via NHS app following lab tests and new drugs sent to my local pharmacy for my collection. All very clear, efficient and easy to engage with. Thanks to all involved.

  2. Review titled The System Is Broken

Rated 1 star out of 5

This surgery (& most now) are anti-patient, anti-human. Technology has overtaken patient care. 'First do no harm' seems to have been lost across the entire nhs. As a rare visitor to a doctor I was told I had 15 minutes, for one issue. This is anti-medicine. We are not a car engine where you only look at separate parts, we are whole humans, needing whole health. One issue can be related to other issues. What is I have an auto-immune issue with multiple symptoms? To be told I must make other appointments to have other issues seen to is inefficient, ineffective and makes a patient feel terrible. As someone who came in with fears around my womb, as my mother has had ovarian cancer & it has returned as she is having open surgery next week on her stomach (after a full hysterectomy), knee injury, excessive congestion in my throat, sinuses, rattling on my chest, fatigue, indigestion, PCOS, fibroids to be told I need to make separate appointments is deeply wrong and shows the nhs as broken. Hospital has not been in touch for my 3 yearly scan on my heart. And knowing e-consults often fail, log you out, I had to go to the A&E for my knee as the surgery did not call me back until 3 days later, to be met with this kind of care is inconceivable. Records don't appear updated, doctors don't appear to refer to medical history before seeing patient. Technology has taken over where receptionists direct patients to log in on a screen almost as if they are hiding from people. Where is the medicine here? First do no harm. Harm is being done. I wrote a letter last year when my best friend was misdiagnosed with symptoms of his cancer over the phone, he had sepsis. No bloods test or urine samples were requested. He died and was in extreme pain doing so. The surgery did not even have the common courtesy to reply. When I saw a doctor for this and other issues, again the same doctor said we can only focus on one issue and wanted to clearly overlook ignore what had happened with my friend. People are getting very angry. I met others in a & e who were forced to wait 14 hours at Glos royal because they could not get an appointment at their surgery. Why are doctors not working for the patient now? Why have you set up the system to be anti-human. Technology is not efficient for the human being, it is efficient for technology, but not the patient. I now have to make multiple appointments for separate issues (if I can get an appointment) when I just needed to talk. I have been grieving for the past year due to the loss of my friend/partner, social prescribers were talking to me, to be treated in such a way as this 'you have 15 minutes, one issue' is inhumane. Any doctor thinking this is okay needs to be stripped of their medical license! I wanted peace of mind, scans, blood tests, assessments and if they are clear I would not be coming back, because I hate coming to the doctors now, but instead I will be fighting for support and care. Broken ! You are broken!
