  1. Review titled Frustrating and disappointing

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Justin - Posted on 22 May 2024

I am frustrated and disappointed by my recent experience of trying to get help from my local surgery. The econsult system is not user friendy and is a barrier to getting help. I am dyslexic and took a long time to naigate the system and found it repetative and obstructive. When i got the call back the GP, not my named GP was brusk to say the least and refused to adress any issues thay didnt fall into the exact details on the above form. Advising i fill out another econsult and try again. The system is not accessable at times when im not working, so this means missing work to access the system. I am also sceptical and worried by the fact that my respiratory issue was diagnosed over a phone call. It was a long call and took just as much time as a face to face appointment just with added challenging conversations created by being on a phone line. I dont feel i was listened to, i dont think my issues were addressed. I have not been with the practice that long but ive never actually seen a GP in the flesh. Its deeply worrying as a man in my 50s that my health is never going to be a priority to the system again. I write this to advocate for anyone that struggles to access services due to personal challenges as this service is not accessable or inclusive.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your experience. We are sorry to read that you are disappointed by the service offered at the practice. We try to be inclusive of all patients offering both online consultation and telephone access for requesting appointments with a GP, we are however looking at online consultation forms with a view to changing provider as we recognize patients feedback in relation to the current forms not being easy to use. Given the concerns you raise in relation to your recent contact and diagnosis, we would like to into this further and would be grateful if you would email us d-icb.beaconcomplaints@nhs.net

  3. Review titled Good experience

Had an Annual review which was easy to book on line. The Pod wasn’t working when I tried to use it so reported it to a Receptionist who had an unsuccessful attempt to solve the issue. Are daily user checks carried out on this equipment? I was informed that my BP and other measurements would be carried out by the nurse taking my blood.

  4. Review titled Fantastic service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was worried about skin issues and pain regarding my family member . GP attended and immediately booked district nurses to visit . In their visit they gave a thorough assessment lasting an about an hour at least , arranged twice a week visits to deal with skin issue . They ordered a special seat cushion , skin cream and a week later a special hospital bed and mattress to help with pressure sores . They attend twice a week still to re dress skin sores .The district nurses are always lovely and kind to family member and extremely understanding of our stressful home situation . They also set up prescriptions for creams and meal supplements which we hadnt ask for . The practice has been amazing, everyone had been very helpful and kind including receptionists, GPs, practice nurses as well as the district nurses . I am aware that lots of people do have issues but I find the service my family member receives is phenomenal.

  6. Review titled Lack of information to patient

by Lesley Austin - Posted on 28 June 2024

Doctor told me i needed to see a physiotherapist for my osteoarthritis. He didnt tell me that i needed to book an appt myself. Wasted 3 weeks waiting. Found out by accident. Filled in on line form. Nothing. The reason i spoke to the doctor in the first place was to ask about pain relief. I am still in pain. Had an Xray, told by diffetent doctor that i have osteoarthritis. Well i knew that 5 years ago. So, i know my mental health is at risk because the pain is very nearly intolerable. I am woken up every single night

  8. Review titled Poor responses

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Alison Creed - Posted on 05 June 2024

6 days to respond to e consult and I had to chase it up as no response on date advised. Phone call unsatisfactory as poor connection and didn’t feel able to discuss fully. Felt that I was asking inappropriately for meds even though advised by physio. After discussion in pharmacy I decided not to take prescription. Fortunately recovery progressing.

  10. Review titled Getting worse

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Iain Mellis - Posted on 31 May 2024

The current service is extremely frustrating & not patient centred. The self referral form is over long & repetitive. After this you then have to wait 10 working days for a Dr to call you, with no time given when the call will happen. My current experience is I made a referral 6 weeks ago, waited 10 working days for a GP call, for them to send me for blood tests (which l was able to get done the same day, thanks to a walk-in service), then had to do another full referral, wait another 10 working days for a call which at 16.30, I am still waiting for, having wasted a whole day as I know if I miss the call I will be discharged & back at square 1. I would like to know why I could not have been sent for blood tests after 1st referral whilst waiting for GP call as I assume referrals are reviewed to determine I have to wait 10 working days. Also when the GP has I asked me to book a follow-up appoimtmet, I have to go through the whole process again and finally why can't an time appointment time or time window be given when the call will happen? It is possible to do for face to face, why not calls? This would have meant I would know when I could be out of contact, without risking missing my call.
