  1. Review titled Great Practice Stick with It!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 May 2024

Hi. I had, thankfully, no need to use surgery until recently. I had heard about patients experiencing great difficulty in navigating the surgery administration site to gain access for diagnosis and treatment. Long waits for appointments or not actually receiving them! But thankfully I was given some very helpful and prompt support from the Reception Team. Gradually, as I needed to return for various reasons I began to really appreciate the logic and workings of the system such that I now find it very intuitive and easy to gain access to the various personal and services required without any real difficulty. It can be daunting and confusing to gain entry through the NHS or Anima portals but having 2 points of access actually makes it easier to do so. We are all finding ourselves in seemingly endless waiting times for phone to be answered “ due to the sheer volume of calls”! The surgery call back system works extremely well as I found out recently! If you need an appointment or some guidance it is available and actually leaves you the patient in a lot more control of your health requirements than you think. It gives you the freedom of getting to the right source in your own time and putting all the relevant details down in writing! So. Stick with it! Look at how Beech Tree Surgery it’s Staff and System is there to help you! We all know that massive pressures on the NHS so a little patience and understanding goes a long way!

Thank you for taking the time to provide such positive and appreciative feedback. We're pleased you found our triaging tool Anima easy to use and that you also found our 'call back' service helpful. We have recently implemented a new pathway on the phones for patients to select the appropriate option that will put them through to another department, if that's appropriate. This has resulted in the calls queueing for a Receptionist to significantly improve. Thank you again for your feedback. Kind Regards, Karen Sherwood, Patient Services Manager.

  2. Review titled Caring practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

After a visit to the surgery last week I would like to praise the team. My wife was waiting in a queue to be seen at the queries desk. We had spent the previous night in A and E and needed a prescription changing in order to get it from our local pharmacy. The request was dealt with swiftly and with great kindness. This meant a lot as we were very tired and worried. Thank you. Keep up the good work.

  4. Review titled Exemplary Service and Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I received an emergency appointment at the practice and saw one of the duty clinicians. I couldn’t recommend highly enough the care and service received. It was an above and beyond what I have experienced from general practitioners. I felt listened to, and event received a follow up call regarding the treatment after the clinician followed up with a doctor. In the recent times of inconsistent care within the NHS, this goes to show there are still great carers doing fabulous jobs.

Thank you to the Advanced Care Practitioner who I saw last week. I was treated with great care and listened to during the appointment. I did not feel at all rushed and I felt comfortable and confident that I was being given appropriate treatment for my skin condition. Keep up the good work.

  6. Review titled A practice not coping

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 December 2023

I have had several issues relating to appointments or getting through to the reception team. I received a message saying that following some blood test, a doctor wanted me to arrange for a call. Aline was included with the message, but it didn't work. I tried to call for an appointment, but was informed that the queue was over 30,so I went to the doctors. The receptionist was very helpful and said that I would get a call from a doctor. This was 4 weeks ago. Today I had an annual review appointment, but could not attend because of an upset tummy. I tried to call, but the queue was over 30. I tried to use the online service, but it was not available. Neither can I send emails or texts to explain. The anima system is hopeless. I cannot get to see a GP. This used to be a good practice , but seems to be suffering from a lack of staff and resources.

  7. Review titled Extremely inadequate booking system

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Martin Allen - Posted on 13 December 2023

Please, Beech tree surgery take a good hard look at your new anima booking system online. I have been trying to book an appointment but just get rebuffed every time. Apparently I am not allowed to telephone and actually speak to someone to book. So many of our friends and neighbours are relating the same experience. I am 71 next birthday. At the moment I can do things on line relatively easily. However it is more difficult to do things online for some much older people and for people who don't easily have access to the internet. This is not even anything like an acceptable booking service for patients, particularly for vulnerable patients. No complaints about the staff at the surgery. Having failed twice to get an acceptable response using anima, I have decided I will have to go in to the reception desk and see if I can book that way. Good job that I am mobile enough to do that.

  8. Review titled Much Improved

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 November 2023

Having been a long standing patient the last six months have seen a great improvement to all patient services since the arrival of the new practice manager. Having had dealings with her directly over the last few weeks she appears to be a much needed and positive breath of fresh air for the surgery after years of frustration I now feel much more content in dealing with my surgery. Long may it continue!

  9. Review titled Awaiting prescriptions

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Glen Eden - Posted on 08 September 2023

Will not mention the problems getting to see a doctor, Firstly l contacted the Carlton surgery, spoken with the receptionist and asked if l could get a call back with a doctor, But see wanted to know personal details about my condition, this l was not happy with, but continued, l gave her all my systoms and conditions, which she said she is not medically trained and said l needed to speak to a doctor!!!¡!!!!, really what do you think l am trying to do, it's you making me tell you my personal health issues, Finally l got a phone call, again not from a doctor but a receptionist, saying the doctor has prescribed a cream for my condition, which when ready for collection, we will text you. I also ask if l could see a doctor regarding my prostate condition ,so an appointment was given, l saw the doctor who prescribed tablets, which l could pick up from Carlton, l explained that l was still awaiting some cream from 4 days earlier, he said they would contact me. Today 8,9,23 , it's been 11days awaiting my cream. And 7days awaiting for the tablets, so l called into the Carlton surgery l explained the situation, they said they have had the cream for over a week ?, But the tablets had only just arrived, so you've had the cream for over a week, so l have been in discomfort for an extra 7days, because you couldn't be bothered to connect me to come and collect, l bet if it affected you ,you'd get the call, very unprofessional, do you know what is going on, as a practice you need to train your staff better and to look out side the box, as their actions or lack of, affects people's welfare, and its avoidable if people do their jobs properly, sorry but it's true.
