Review titled Disappointing service!!!
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 21 November 2024
I visited this practice with my 2 week old baby I was made to feel like I was being a over paranoid mother and I was also spoken down too like I was a child. When ever you ring the surgery up you can be number 1 in the queue for about half hour then when the reception staff answer the phone they can be rude to you, you can never make an appointment you always have to wait for a call back has apparently there always fully booked up but everytime iv been in there it's always empty and staff are stood around talking or drinking tea. When I rang up the other day I was told I had to go to the pharmacist now has he can prescribe antibiotics if needed if he thinks you need to see a doctor then ring them back. This doctors surgery has gone down hill what's the point when there obviously doing nothing I won't be going back there I'd rather stay poorly!!!!

Review titled Where/who is the Dr?
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Mary - Posted on 02 October 2024
I have been waiting to see a Dr for over one month ,even though I have failed the "yearly"test that comes in the post after waiting several hours waiting on the phone all I get is a "Triage" person who is out of her depth?I have never come across such a shoddy service where the Dr is hiding from patients! I even went to A@E for 6 hours to speak to a Dr and they refered me back to my GP . Back yo square one!

Review titled Was excellent now rubbish
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Amanda smith - Posted on 28 May 2024
I requested a repeat pescription of medicine which has been prescribed for 1 month, today, I have 6 days left but I haven't a medication review until the 18th June, the pharmacist won't give me a repeat until I've had my review so that means stopping the medication, having withdrawal symptoms to then restart? I've sent messages querying the drug but I never get to thr bottom of this, I'm going away in 1 week and still have no medication. Last week the in house pharmacist decided he couldn't prescribe it, but the surgery failed to let me know, today I rang up querying it and the failed to let me know it wasn't being prescribed, so they booked me in for an appointment this morning, 5 minutes later cancelled it, I rang to rebook, on hold in a queue of just 6 for 48 minutes, to be told someone might ring today, if not I have to rung back and see if there's anything again tomorrow! This is unacceptable, and not a way to run a practice.

Review titled Always been excellent, but stretched to the max now
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 08 December 2023
I am currently having a few health issues and tbh my nurse and doctor have been amazing, however lately they are stretched to the max, this impacts time it takes to get appointments etc i get it ..but im now in the position im been waiting 4 days for a sick note to be signed, work are going bonkers and theres a lady on reception who really has no people skills, talks to you like your wasting her time and couldnt care less. I know your busy but 4 days to get a sick note signed really isnt acceptable, and whomever that reception lady is needs serious people skills training or find a role where shes not dealing with the public.

Review titled Used to be great
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 November 2023
This surgery used to be really good. Now the thing what's letting it down is the rude reception staff who think they are medically trained and won't let you see or even speak to a doctor. I phoned up a few days ago as I'm quite unwell and a member off staff told me they can see I'm on antibiotics and to ride it out as the doctor won't do anything for me? Absolutely disgrace, they shouldn't get to tell me what i what I need to do. I've then since completed my antibiotics and I'm even worse. I rang yesterday morning at 8am to be told I'm on a query list? And I've not heard anything back. I'm guessing I will have to go to out of hours surgery elsewhere because the reception staff won't let people through the door!! Also. When replying back to people you suggest contacting the surgery so they can sort it out yet the first point of Contact is the receptionists who are the problem? This solves nothing as they don't care. There is more to add to this but if I don't want to jeopardise my identity!

Dear patient, Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry to hear we fell short of your expectation. Unfortunately I am unable to investigate your review fully as I do not have your details, I will however, discuss with the wider team at our next training day. The query list is used when the GPs are at full capacity, the GP will deal with this query in addition to their days workload and advise our receptionists of the actions required. If you wish to discuss this further with the management team, please do not hesitate to contact the surgery via telephone, face to face, email or in writing. Kind regards, Management at Bilsthorpe Surgery

Review titled Repeat prescriptions so difficult
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 30 October 2023
Both my wife and I have repeat prescription orders. Recently the system has changed and when we put orders in well in advance they are not being actioned leaving us going 7 - 10 days without our medications. When we called the surgery today the receptionist informed us that the prescription had been sent to the pharmacy for collection. That was news to us and on telling her that she just laughed, how inappropriate and unprofessional. Wish things would improve as when we joined even in the middle of the pandemic things ran a lot smoother. We used to be able to request all our medications in one go but now for some reason each medication is scheduled at different availability times so we have weekly deliveries. Surely this is costly in postage for our online delivery service Well.

Review titled Poor online services
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Jaime Turley - Posted on 27 September 2023
Unable to book an appointment online. What's the point of an online service that is not available? Husband needs medication which the practice will not prescribe until a review is done. We work and the telephone line is always busy and waiting times are lengthy, and inefficient for working people. So can't order the prescription and can't make an appointment online...poor service overall.

Dear Jamie, Thank you for your review, Bilsthorpe Surgery take all feedback seriously. We are sorry to hear you felt our service fell short of your expectation. We offer a range of appointments am - pm both face to face and over the telephone. When appointments are required at short notice we may not be able to offer as many. Some reviews require blood tests, due to the collection time (to collect samples for the pathology lab) we are only able to offer AM appts at Bilsthorpe. We can offer Saturday AM appointments at another local surgery. Medication requests can be made online, details are on our website or alternatively you can contact the surgery to help enable this for you. A member of our management team would be happy to discuss your review further should you wish. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Many thanks, The team at Bilsthorpe Surgery

Review titled Great first impression
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 25 September 2023
I recently registered having moved to the area. The reception staff have been so helpful, friendly & excellent in terms of explaining the process, & on my return with the completed forms, through to my fist appointment today. The nurse/advanced care practitioner introduced herself & couldn’t have been nicer in terms of her genuine care & checking lots of details as a new patient, & taking the time to explain things at my appointment. The surgery is so clean & well laid out, with parking too! Thank you to everyone. Very good first impressions.

Review titled Made to feel uncomfortable.
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 11 July 2023
Was made to feel like a burden for asking for a GP appointment (this has happened twice now). Was told they could put me in for the following day 'at a push' after a doctor kept me waiting 40 minutes in the waiting room. (They also tried to suggest I was told it was sit and wait but I was not told this and told the receptionist I had to leave by a certain time and I was told that was fine- that receptionist was called and she confirmed she had told me it was an appointment time not a sit and wait). That doctor then sent me a rather blunt text message at 8pm suggesting I was offered several appointments and turned them all down- this is incorrect. Ended up registering elsewhere as I felt so uncomfortable with how I was being treated. They kept blaming being short staffed, I appreciate they are short staffed but so is everywhere else and as the patient, it isn't my fault that they are short staffed and unable to keep to appointment times. I also had to tell nearly every single person I spoke to what my medical problem was (surely 1 person is enough?).
