  2. Review titled Problems with prescriptions

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I've been registered at this surgery for around five years and until December 2022 had no problems, however since then every repeat prescription request I've made has been messed up by the surgery. I make prescription requests about every six weeks and from December last year there have been mistakes and problems caused by the surgery on every occasion. The request process used to reliably take about three days: now I have to allow two weeks. Sometimes the request has simply been actioned at all. I phoned today to ask why one of the three medicines I requested had not been included and they falset told me I hadn't ordered it. I know categorically I did. I requested three medicines and double-checked the confirmation on the web page to make sure as by now I anticipate them making these kinds of mistake. I recently kept the confirmation page open until after I'd collected the order from the pharmacy. Unfortunately, I didn't check the contents of the bag until today as I'd assumed they would have got my prescription order right. I now have several days to wait without a medicine prescribed by my consultant. This level of incompetence seems minor but it creates continuous stress and uncertainty and I would be very interested to know what changed at the surgery towards the end of 2022 which has caused it.

Dear Anonymous, We are really sorry for any inconvenience caused during the issuing prescriptions from our Practice. Thank you for taking the time to contact us and let us know, as we always need to continuously improve our services to our patients. We are going to need a little more detail to be able to identify the root cause and put a fix in place. Would you kindly contact the Practice and ask to speak to either the Operations Manager or Patient Assistance lead. It is probably worth mentioning when calling that you've been asked to contact these members of staff, in response to a review left on an NHS website. We hope this will facilitate a speedy solution to overcome the issue. Regards, Carey Dowson Practice Manager

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I think Bingley medical practice is the best doctors. I have received the best help/support and advice here. Please pass on my thanks to all staff. I just wondered what an 'embargo' appointment was?

Dear Sarah, Thank you for your kind words and I'll certainly pass onto both the Clinical and Back Office teams. We always try and continuously improve our services to our patients and do please feel free to contact us if you think improvements can be made. An embargoed slot is something we use to assist with managing the appointment slots on our system (SystmOne). They are generally timebound or phased so that these appointments are automatically opened for example, as use for on the day only appointments, rather than manually changing them at 8.00am in the morning. We constantly strive to maintain a ratio of routine appointments (bookable in advance) vs urgent on the day appointments. We trust this provides sufficient information and please do not hesitate to contact us if you require further information Regards, Carey Dowson Practice Manager
