10/10 for your service today. Call answered promptly kind & helpful receptionist, call back from lovely nurse practitioner within 2hrs & a prescription sent out to the chemist straight away. Thank you I’ve always had the best of care on the infrequent times I have needed to contact you.

  2. Review titled Excellent practice

I just wanted to acknowledge the amazing care I’ve received from Birchwood medical practice over the last week or so. Having had to attend 3 different appointments 2 with the nurses and a female gp, all 3 went above and beyond. They were caring, professional but human and most importantly listened to me. I didn’t feel I was on a timer, nothing felt rushed and I can’t tell you how much better they all made me feel. Thank you for helping me restore my faith in the practice and the NHS in general. Thank you all so much, you made such a difference to me

  3. Review titled Really helpful receptionist & practice manager

Rated 5 stars out of 5

This week I attended my GP surgery for a blood test for my daughter, For a flu jab for myself and with a delicate and complicated telephone enquiry.. I was hugely impressed with the help and efficiency of service I was given. We all know how under pressure GP services are currently, and the ‘front of house staff’ must take a battering. So I just wanted to call out the great service I’ve had this week! Top marks do you ladies! And many thanks!

I cannot speak highly enough of the time, care and support offered by this doctor. The doctor spent time with me today really looking into everything, being interested and supportive in trying to help. Thank you, you were superb.

Spoke to the older grey haired lady this morning who couldn’t have been more helpful. She understood the situation and acted promptly and efficiently resulting in my husband seeing the nurse the same day.

  6. Review titled Terrible Practice - Avoid!

Rated 1 star out of 5

I appreciate the struggles within the NHS at the moment and the Drs I have seen at this practice are always very nice. However, the reception staff are incredibly rude, unhelpful and come across very uncaring - for which I think there is no excuse. I have had continuous problems over the years with this surgery, which is often not easy to resolve with the reception team. I've been told incorrect appointment times for my children which has meant I have missed appointments. Sadly this has happened on more than one occasion. We have received phone calls to discuss diabetes results about another patient (No-one in our household has diabetes). Recently, based on a recommendation from NHS 111, we took our daughter to an out of hours GP at another practice. At this appointment the Dr took a urine sample and advised this would need further testing at the lab, so to drop it off at our practice the next day. This sample included written notes from the GP we saw regarding the results. After dropping the sample off, I received a phone call a few hours later to advise that they couldn't find the sample. This was left where the receptionist advised (in a sample box on the wall) but rather than apologise it was insinuated that I hadn't put this in the correct place and that I would need to provide another sample. However, when explaining that not only have they lost the sample, but also the written notes from the out of hours GP we saw, I was told that this only included my daughters name and date of birth - which is not the case. Luckily, due to previous errors experienced at this practice and my lack of trust in them, I took a photo of these notes on my phone as back-up. I appreciate mistakes are made, but the fact that they have been unable to admit responsibility for a mistake they have made, or even apologise, is very disappointing. When asking for a complaints number / procedure to raise this I was told by the receptionist that they didn't have one. When I said I have spoken to the Practice Manager on a previous occasion about another mistake, they noted my number on a piece of paper for a call back. I'm very doubtful this will make it over to Practice Manager. I do try to avoid this practice as much as I can, often using health insurance to be seen privately but sadly, they cannot be avoided for everything.

  7. Review titled Helpful, kind and informative

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Lately I've needed to speak to my GP a few times, as well as the practice nurse, and I'm reminded how lucky I am to have Birchwood practice on my doorstep. I've felt well supported and properly informed - not only by the practitioners, but with the administrative staff, who are always so kind, friendly and helpful. I have nothing but appreciation for the Birchwood team, based on my experiences so far :)

Great doctors service once getting an appointment !!had a little experience getting the medication I needed .. HRT !! But once explained I needed it before I went on holiday and asked to speak with the practice manager I got a telephone appointment straight away !! It’s worth booking appointments in advance if you know you’re running low on medication !! Can’t get to visit the doctors face to face anymore which is a shame !! But when eventually speaking to the doctor must say she was amazing and was the manager !!!

  9. Review titled Prepared for battle I didn't need to fight

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 August 2024

My telephone consultation this morning was something I could only have dreamt of. The GP I spoke to was knowledgeable about the issue and signposted and referred me without me having to fight. I feel listened to and heard and I could not be more relieved. My previous appointments at this practice have been similar. I have nothing but praise for this practice.

  10. Review titled Brilliant Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The receptions are helpful and very courteous, even when they are under a lot of pressure. I experienced them dealing with a queue of people and handling difficult situations whilst still keeping a calm and gracious demeanour.

Thank you so much for your kind words. When people are poorly they are usually at their worst; our understanding and compassion towards them makes it easier to be more patient. Thank you for noticing this in our team's behaviour as we know they really do try. Kind regards Debra Spencer Practice Manager
