Review titled Poor again
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Darren - Posted on 19 December 2024
The hospital sent letter to doctors for a prescription for my elderly mother . My mum rang on Monday to see if received and was told by the reception no we don't do that here . So this set of a chain of events in phone calls to the surgery over 3 days with my mother as usual doing most of the work. When the surgery decided to try and help it was the pharmacist that confirmed that the prescription with them and had been sent down to Bloomfield pharmacy . There seems to be an assumption my mum can walk ,run, get transport to collect it from Bloomfield pharmacy.and she asked could it be sent to her nominated pharmacy at Asda . This was done but why was she told they don't do them there . Why was it not sent to the nominated chemist in the first place. It's a complete shambles and she also when requesting blood forms to get bloods done they refuse to send them to her. Considering she can't pick them up herself and then at least she would not have to wait 3 weeks to book an appointment ment for bloods in the first place . So for instance you need bloods doing now and waiting three weeks for appointment at surgery instead of just sending a form to go walk in centre. One cap does not fit all springs to mind but every time my mum needs support she can't get it and simple issues turn into a nightmare for her Yet again undue stress for the patient

Review titled Another issue
by Darren - Posted on 11 November 2024
My mother 82 Nasty fall at weekend Needed advice on pain relief as she is in agony Rang surgery to be told sorry can't help until tomorrow ,I advised she can't wait that long ,and basically tough ,mum has to suffer ,I said a quick phone call for a prescription as emergency and answer sorry no can do , I think this surgery assume that my.mum can sit on the phone costing her a fortune on pay as you go ,no care at all about her being in agony , And of course risking her taking it upon herself to potentially take the wrong accompanying pain killers with the ones she already on ,she clearly is vulnerable and can't get to the walk in centre ect ,so whom do vulnerable older people turn to ,this is not the only issue it seems to be every time there is a clear need for this patient to get help she never gets it ,this was a simple potentially 2 minutes call to give help, which as usual was not forth coming ,when the waiting room is empty what are the doing because there seems to be no service here . Seems like it's about safeguarding budgets rather than patients

Dear Darren, I am sorry you feel we have not treated your mother correctly but in order to address the matter fully, I would ask that you please send the patient details to the practice email address to allow us to investigate further. At times the waiting room can indeed be empty for periods, or less busy depending on time of day and availability of clinicians. We also have a call back facility on our telephone system which allows the caller to press a specific number and the surgery will call you back, thus saving on time waiting on the phone. I will be happy to pick up this complaint as soon as we receive it.

Review titled Why ask to call back for appointments when you have non

One thing I can never understand is you get a text saying contact us for your results only to be told there are no appointments not even 4 weeks plus in advance, now I have to wait till a week later to phone up every Wednesday or Friday to see if there's an appointment. let's hope it isn't too bad. What happened to the days the nhs was working and doctors being doctors and not running like a business making patients jump through hoops.

Dear Jonathan, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about our practice. I am sorry to hear that your recent encounter was unsatisfactory, this is not what we aim for. Being one of the largest GP practices in the area, we see an extremely high demand for our clinics and services. Alongside this, we unfortunately have a high rate of wasted appointments, either unattended in-person appointments, or unanswered telephone appointments. In September alone, we made 8865 appointments available to patients. 3456 of these appointments were in-person. Sadly, 296 of these in-person appointments were unattended. These wasted appointments mean that patients who need to be seen may struggle to do so. Wasted appointments also increase the overall wait times for patients to be seen. We do work to actively remove patients who frequently waste appointments. To help with demand, we do provide an Evening & Weekend (Enhanced Access) service which is based in Whitegate Health Centre. Many of our clinics and services, including GP appointments, are available here. These are available in-person or over the phone, and GPs here can do most our GPs are able to do, including interpreting results from investigations. This service is shared between all the local Primary Care Networks (PCNs) / GP Practices in the area. You can use the NHS app or website to look for GP appointments at our practices without having to call up. Should you prefer to call, we now provide a callback feature to save you the trouble of waiting on hold during busy periods. With this in mind, I hope you can appreciate the pressures GP practices are under, and the effort we actively put in to resolve issues and improve access to healthcare for our patients. Your feedback matters to us and helps shape what we do. Should you wish to raise a formal complaint with the practice, please visit our website for more information: www.bloomfieldmedicalcentre.co.uk/contact. Yours sincerely, Bloomfield Medical Centre.

Review titled Left upset after appointment
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I had a recent consultation with the Practice Nurse, I hope I do not have the need to consult again with this member of staff. I have basic knowledge of health issues and like to think I am a sensible adult, I felt spoken to like a child, disbelieved and upset. Based on this, I would not recommend friends or family to join this practice.
