My 4 year old has got an open fracture and I was told by the orthopedic team down at the minor injuries unit to bring them to see a GP for a review to make sure its not infected as they are at high risk of infection and to see a gp in 4 days time which will be Monday, but I was told today that there are no appointments and that they would consult with one of the gp's working to see if they could get us an appointment who said that I would have to take them back to the minor injuries unit for the review. But the problem is if the open fracture has got infected then the referral process will take longer to do through at a minor injuries unit then at a doctors surgery. Appointments like these should be made available at the surgery so that the minor injuries units stay free for the people who need them. I have never had an issue getting an appointment before but I am absolutely shocked and disgusted that this is how a child gets treated when we are only following orders from the orthopedic team. I guess I will be spending hours in a minor injuries unit just to make sure it is healing properly that could have been done at the surgery. But if an infection is found and my child is delayed treatment due to the longer process of a referral I will be making a formal complaint to the surgery.

I walked out of the reception this morning so upset after being spoken to like I was the worst mum in the world. You can't win they either want to know everything and see pictures you do this and then get laid Into for too much info or didn't need to see pics. I am a mum looking for guidance and wanting my 3 year old to been seen today not 4 weeks time. You should have compassion, Care, respect not make me feel so rubbish for doing what I thought was the right thing. I've been with this doctors since I was a little girl and it has just got worse and worse since covid. Shame on you brannel surgery
