Review titled Disappointed
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have been with this surgery for many years. I am disappointed that now it is so hard to get an appointment with my regular GP. I do understand that my GP does not work everyday and only certain days of the week, but trying to get an appointment using the telephone and speaking to the receptionist is impossible! Another GP that I had spoken too strongly advised me to see my regular GP and had put a request in to the receptionist.

Dear patient, Thank you for your recent feedback. I am sorry that you are unhappy with the appointment system and not being able to get an appointment with your own GP. I appreciate it can be frustrating when you wish to see a specific GP. GPs as you have stated do not all work full time, will have other duties when they are unable to have regular appointments such as being the on call GP dealing with urgent clinical patient matters or out visiting our most vulnerable patients. We do have available many different ways to book appointments that do not need to use the telephone. You can use our website to book an appointment or you can use the online booking service which will also show if the specific GP you wish is available. It would seem surprising to me that if another GP has requested a member of my reception team to pre-book an appointment with a specific GP that this did not happen. But unfortunately you have not given your details so I am unable to investigate further. Should you wish me to investigate further, please email nwicb.bridgeroadsurgery@nhs.net . Our website address which you may also use to book appointments is www.bridgeroadsurgery.nhs.uk. Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback. Clive Sillitoe Practice Manager

Dear Mrs Lewin, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you feel your husband has received a poor service. I do not feel it is appropriate to discuss confidential medical matters on a public forum. I regret I also do not have your husbands full details to be able to investigate. I can inform you that generally if NHS 111 feel a patient requires an appointment, they will book the patient in directly to us with appointments that are held specifically for that purpose. I have received no such notifications. I can also confirm that I cannot trace any requests with your surname. However, I am happy to investigate further. Should you wish me to do so you may contact me directly at clive.sillitoe@nhs.net and I would need your husband's full details and his permission to discuss his information with you. Thank you for leaving your feedback. Yours sincerely Clive Sillitoe Practice Manager

Review titled Concerning
Rated 1 star out of 5

They have No midwife allocation and have no interest in new pregnancy. This is my first pregnancy and I am highly concerned for my well-being (unlike the practice) I have no midwife and no antenatal care. All I received was a mobile number for a midwife who states she won’t reply to any voicemail for several days. There is absolutely no compassion or patient care. I have no idea what I will now do as I am extremely unwell with this pregnancy and no pharmacy will give me any medication without GP or midwife prescription but the receptionist said I can only see the GP for pregnancy termination options. I don’t expect my pregnancy to last unfortunately. I strongly suggest a CQC visit to this practice.

Dear patient, Thank you for your feedback. I regret I cannot answer in any detail as you have not given your details. I will therefore give a generic answer. It is correct that we do not have midwives in attendance. The local NHS protocols and pathways are that we give the details to the patient for them to contact the midwife who will then contact the patient directly. Any patient will receive the appropriate care throughout their pregnancy including antenatal care. This is arranged via the midwifery service not the practice. The midwifery service should be used to discuss any general concerns and questions about the pregnancy. If you are unwell, whether pregnancy related or not, then it would be appropriate for you to see a clinician. But unfortunately it is unclear from your comments what your issue may be, and I am unable to investigate further without your details. Should you wish me to help further you will need to contact me please clive.sillitoe@nhs.net Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. Best wishes. Clive Sillitoe Practice Manager

Dear Mr Leftwich, Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate medication shortages are frustrating but the shortages or the pharmacy are not something within the control of Bridge Road. I do not wish to discuss personal matters in detail on a public forum, that is not appropriate for confidentiality reasons. However, it appears to me that we had responded to the pharmacy after your initial query, but I cannot answer why you had further problems from them. I have been assured by the practice pharmacy technicians that your issue is now sorted. I apologise for the delay in replying as I have been on annual leave, but if you feel it has not been resolved you can email me directly on clive.sillitoe@nhs.net and I will investigate further. Best wishes. Clive Sillitoe, Practice Manager

Review titled Contacting a doctor
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Judi Pearce - Posted on 02 May 2023
I have osteoarthritis in a knee and began gettinghand and shoulder pain plus waking from pain and having to wee soo was very tired. I am 75 so contacted via online form asking for GP appointment. Made mistake of ticking box agreeing to video call. Got reply saying doctor would call me! He rang and immediately dismissed my pain as "I was almost 100". He didn't listen said I could buy my own pessary for frequent weeing after not listening at all. He asked if I'd had children and when I said 2 breech, he asked they'd been vaginally. Eventually said refer for blood tests re rheumatoid markers but I had to ask if I had to book appointment. Went for test and told results in 3 days. 10 days later still waiting for his promised call to "discuss results". So disappointed that recent dizziness and shivers I have suffered rather than try contact. Most disappointed.

Dear Ms Pearce, Thank you for sending in your feedback. I am sorry that you found your recent consultation unsatisfactory. I will be pleased to help you with this matter but feel this should not be discussed in 'public' as it relates to your personal medical matters. I also need to be able to identify you properly. Review titled Awful practice
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Mark - Posted on 22 February 2023
Can't get appointment on phone can't get an appointment online. Just says full today try again tomorrow. What's the point in an online request service that you literally have to fill in at 8 o'clock in the morning, would have thought an online request for an appointment should be able to be done at anytime and was for those that are unable to be on the phone at 8 o'clock in the morning!

Dear Mark, Thank you for your recent feedback. I understand that due to extremely high demand it can be challenging to get a routine appointment. During these periods of very high demand we have to treat the online access similar to that of telephone appointments. Otherwise, all appointments for some considerable time would be taken before we had even opened the surgery. We have over the last few weeks, opened up direct online booking of appointments of which there are a number that can be pre-booked up to two weeks ahead directly via the NHS app or an online account. We also have pre-bookable appointments available on Saturdays. We also everyday have a number of appointments available that we need for clinical emergencies. I do therefore share your frustration, but can assure you that we are never sitting on empty appointments, and we are always doing all we can to maximise those available. Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We constantly review the service we give, and feedback is always useful when we look to make changes. Yours faithfully Clive Sillitoe Practice Manager
