Review titled Impossible to get an appointment if you work
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Karen McCaffrey - Posted on 09 May 2023
Appointments need to be made by phoning or attending at 8am. I am travelling to work at this time so this is not possible. On rare occasions when I am able to ring, there are no appointments left and booking for another day is not allowed. As a result I have not had a face to face appointment at this surgery for years.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review We empathise with your frustration that there are often long waits to speak to one of our care coordinators on the phone. We are aware that at times, the waiting time for Patients can be longer than we would like. Whilst acknowledging that demand in GP Practices is at an all-time high, we cannot ignore that the waiting times with our phones is a problem. More importantly, we acknowledge that this problem is creating difficulties for our Patients. We certainly do not intend to create difficulties in appointment accessibility. Our eConsult service is growing in popularity as it allows Patients to book an appointment or seek advice without having to contact us through our phone lines. Due to high demand for this service our eConsult service is limited to being open 8:00 - 11:30 and 17:00 -18:30 This ensures that we have the capacity to answer eConsults within he stated response times and have the capacity to deal with the quantity of eConsults that we are receiving. Our eConsult Service can be accessed through our website, please follow this link. eConsult | Bridge View Medical We have recently changed our approach to allocating appointments to ensure continuity of care. You can now book routine appointments up to 14 days ahead with your named GP. Review titled Absolutely horrendous practice. Avoid at all costs.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Bradley Lear - Posted on 26 June 2023
I recently changed to this GP, and am prescribed a controlled medication. Not only did the GP change the prescription from bi-weekly to weekly, making me go to the pharmacy more often, but 5 times in the past 2 months have they messed it up in some form or another. Each time I have spent between 3-8 hours sorting it out, they either completely reject the prescription request even though it's something I've been taking for almost 2 years, or they approve it and don't send it through to the pharmacy. Two weeks ago I went in to pick it up, spent 20 minutes waiting to see the pharmacist, only to be told it hadn't been sent through, I then spent 50 minutes on hold to the GP to simply be told "it has been sent through". I then went back to the pharmacy who again told me it had not been sent through, rinse and repeat this time 1 hour and 20 minutes on hold just for them to finally send it through. They apologised and said it wouldn't happen again and low and behold I go to pick up my prescription today and it's been rejected. I am changing GP asap. Bridgeview Medical unfortunately seem to have some monopoly on a large proportion of GP's in the South West of Bristol, it would have saved me a lot of time if I'd stayed at my previous GP and instead taken entire days off work to walk the 12 miles there and back than stick with a GP 5 minutes away from where I live now.

Review titled No Emergency Appointments even for Under 5s
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 May 2023
I called at 8:30 on Monday morning, it took me 15 mins to even get in the call queue, then 1h15 to get to the front. By then all emergency appointments had gone and even though my son had been ill for 2 weeks, he was unable to have an emergency appointment as he did not have a temperature (last year he did not have a temperature but had Hepatitis!), was referred for a pharmacy appointment (for which I need to be available for a call back in 4hrs) and was offered an appointment in 9 days time. I asked to see a doctor to inspect the rash and other symptoms I believe to be StrepA. There are another 20,000 homes being built in the vicinity of the Bridgeview medical practice and no new Gp facilities being built. It is only a matter of time before no one will be able to get any emergency appointments at this clinic

Review titled Named doctor policy is very unhelpful
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 June 2023
It is incredibly difficult to get through to the surgery on the phone. The wait time is often more than an hour - even when trying at different times of the day. The switch to only being able to have an appointment with your 'named doctor' is very frustrating and has made the situation much worse. Some doctors are only available a couple of days a week meaning they are continually booked up for weeks at a time. The doctors are great - when you actually get to speak to or see them.

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We understand that the wait times to get through to the surgery can be frustrating and they are often longer than we would like. To improve this we are introducing a dedicated phone answering hub over the next month and we are hopeful that this means we will see a significant reduction in telephone wait times. Continuity of Care is a new approach to the way we allocate our appointments, please follow the below link to read more information on this Continuity of Care | Bridge View Medical Kind Regards Bridge View Medical

Review titled No right to call itself a doctors surgery.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Elliot Hall - Posted on 20 March 2023
During a health check recently. The doctor recommended I have a prostate check. I've been having symptoms and decided to book in for my check. It took an hour of being on hold before we could get through. They offered a check at 2.30pm next Monday. I explained I couldn't do that appointment because I am leading a workshop for 20 vulnerable people. I explained I can move any other work and the only time I can't do during the week is on Monday 2-6pm. They said they can't offer me another appointment and i'd have to phone back but my wife can't keep taking an hour off work to phone the doctor and not get an appointment. We both asked for a phone appointment, the receptionist said you have to see your specific G.P. she said there were no appointments available. I said but if it's my prostate could I see another GP? She said it's our new system where you can see the same GP to establish a relationship, I tried to explain I can't establish a relationship without an appointment! I thought it impossible for Bridge View to make the system they had any worse but they've done it. I suffer from serious mental illness (schizophrenia) and am worried I may have early symptoms of prostate cancer. Bridge View Medical has no right to call itself a doctors surgery.
