Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rebecca Jane Gardner - Posted on 30 July 2024

Had an ear infection in South Africa it was still causing problems on return to UK - was reviewed several times by a Practice Nurse then by a GP who made an ENT hot clinic referral -both were extremely gentle and kind and explained the situation to me - thank you!

  2. Review titled Uncomfortable experience

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 July 2023

It would be helpful when a Dr phones a patient that they have access and has read a brief medical history before the interaction. I’ve spent the past 5 years with serious anorexia and epilepsy and even though I am now healthy with a lot of support from my previous GP and specialists, the GP had no idea I was a complex case and made a few comments which were very triggering. I have also had medication that has kept me stable for years now possibly being removed (i can only think it’s a funding issue?) simply because I have changed post codes. These are prescribed by psychologists, mental health nurses and in hospital, and I believe it should be up to a Dr to contact other people in my care and not make decisions without having met me or read any history. A better understanding of mental health or specific patients needs should be worked on to improve the practice. I’m able to take comments on the chin but previously being told to cut down on fat would have led me back to organ failure and being inpatient for anorexia in a psych hospital. I hate bothering GP’s like everyone else so it has put me off seeking help in the future.

Thank you for your comment, I am sorry to hear that your experience was not a positive one with us. I would be happy to investigate this and discuss it further with you if you would like to email me with your contact details at; bnssg.admin.bmc@nhs.net marking it for my attention, I will be able to do this. You mention the Doctor not having access so I am unsure if this is a new registration but I would be happy to look into this further for you. Best wishes Megan Joscelyne Operations Manager

  3. Review titled Four major issues in less than a year

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Andrea Miranda - Posted on 11 April 2023

I've been registered with Broadmead Medical Centre since October 2022. I've had some major issues, such as: 1. One sample got lost in reception in early 2022, and it required me to go back to the clinic two more times to do a second sample procedure. The whole treatment had a delay of at least one week due to this problem, all while I was in severe discomfort and pain due to an infection. 2. A second sample got lost in February 2023 because the doctor who ordered it didn't register the request properly and therefore nobody knew where to send the sample. Nobody followed through this issue, and it was me who had to call and ask why I hadn't received any results. Now I've been requested to repeat the sample, but they haven't explained how they'd avoid the same problem again (they still don't know which of their doctors asked for my sample!). 3. On Friday 24th of February, I had a face-to-face appointment for shin injuries. One medication was prescribed, but it didn't go through and the pharmacy never received it. Therefore, I was left without treatment and relied only on paracetamol, even though the doctor suggested I needed extra medication. 4. Nobody has followed up my stomach issues, suspected to be IBD. I did several samples and exams, including an extremely uncomfortable and painful endoscopy. They requested an extra sample which is the one that got forever lost (point 2 of this list). Hence, I've been left on my own, with persistent stomach issues and no answers despite over a year of pain and procedures. It's not only a waste of my time, but of valuable NHS resources. I understand the clinic is really busy and issues will occur from time to time. However, for four major problems to happen to the same patient in less than a year, it really is worrisome and extremely frustrating as a patient.
