My daughter got very ill with post traumatic stress disorder . Tried to get her an appointment. Only could give me one in three weeks time. I was desperate sat in urgent care Queen Mary’s for six hours. Then the pru the next day for another six hours. Eventually got the help I needed. My daughter is special needs. I have requested her medical records two weeks ago. Phoned up this evening to be told it takes 28 days and they are behind at the moment could be longer . I have been with this surgery for 40 years. Whatever has happened to them . Looking for another surgery now cause I cannot believe the service they are offering. Absolute rubbish

Dear Lynne Elliott, Firstly please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in responding to your review. I am really sorry to hear of the care that your daughter had to experience. At Broomwood we do, do our very best to offer patients an appointment as soon as possible dependant on the clinical need, this is why now all appointments are triaged by a clinician who makes the clinical decision of when a patient needs to be seen. With regards to requesting your daughters medical records this can take up to 28 days. In line with the NHS guidance the records must be checked to ensure there is nothing harmful or sensitive to the patient. With the increase in the number of these requests these can take 28days but we do endeavour to complete these as soon as possible. Once again please accept my apologies, but if you would like to discuss this in more detail please do not hesitate to contact me. Regards Practice Manager

  2. Review titled Refusing to see my 4 year old daughter

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Lucy Price - Posted on 09 December 2022

Have been attempting to get a diagnosis for my daughter who has scarlet fever symptoms! Keep getting fobbed off by GP and have had to get a private video call consultation in order to get my daughter treatment where she was prescribed penicillin, I was also advised by the private consultant that my daughter needs a physical examination by the GP so that she can be properly diagnosed. I told the GP this and was told that the private consultant shouldn't have said that and still refused my daughter an appointment! (At least the private consultant has taken my concerns seriously!) My daughter needs a diagnosis, also if this is scarlet fever you have a responsibility to inform the school and the appropriate authorities! Have filled out yet another e-consult form today, but no surprises have heard nothing. I understand that you are busy but you should actually listen to your patience concerns when you do speak to them, that way less time will be wasted and you might actually see some patients instead of wasting time on the phone telling that that you won't see them. I have spent 20 minutes over 2 phonecalls speaking to the GP that is the equivalent of 2 face to face consultations! And still no diagnosis! What a compete waste of everyone's time!

I've phone yesterday afternoon to prescription talk to talk about medication. The prescription was very rude and repeated all the time shouting I'm can't hear. After the while she begins listening me. She told she can hear mumbling nothing else. She call me by name without asking if this ok if I'm call you by first name. I'm became very stressed after taking to her.

Dear patient, Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry that you felt the Prescription Clerk was rude to you when taking your call. I have had the opportunity to listen to the call recording and I can clearly hear that the call was difficult due to the sound being very muffled and unclear. I’m sorry that you did not like the clerk informing you that you were mumbling, but she did also advise you that the call was unclear and she could not hear you. Once you moved your phone it was much clearer and she was able to hear you. I’m very sorry if this has caused you any unnecessary stress on this occasion. Practice manager

  4. Review titled Appointment refused by receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 August 2022

I have developed high blood pressure while abroad (meaning 220/160 heart rate over 130) and received emergency treatment by cardiologist (prescribed emergency medication at the moment) . Went to book appointment in person today 26/08/2022 as need to follow the emergency treatment given but I was refused and told that I need to book an appointment online (even explaining I do not have the access as the links/registrations letter given me by surgery never worked). Still refused help by receptionist and no appointment booked for me! Went online but I have no access to link me with the surgery and to book the appointment! I understand from your website I can book appointment online, phone or in person. The way you run the practice and refuse your patients to access help from doctors for urgent help for people with heart condition is terribly wrong.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. I’m very sorry hear of your experience when booking an appointment. In the last 2yrs we have had to change the way in which patients book their appointments as advised by NHS England. We do offer a variety of ways to book an appointment. In the first instance you can pre-bookable appointments up to 3 weeks in advance, however once these have been booked you will need to complete an eConsult. You do not need a link to access eConsult, you just need to go to www.thebroomwoodhealthcentre.co.uk and click the box to ‘consult with my doctor. Once submitted this is triaged by the GP. If the GP decides that you need an appointment, they will ask the receptionist to call you and book you in for an appropriate appointment or you will receive a SMS text from the GP advising you of their decision. For patients who do not have internet access, the receptionist will call the patient back to complete the eConsult on the patient’s behalf. I hope that I have clarified your concerns in booking appointments, but if you would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact me. Practice manager
