  1. Review titled Must Do Better

Rated 1 star out of 5

being ill is never a good experience for anyone, especially when you are very ill! Partners telephoning for help to be told you need to book on line, only to try and find no appointments available, to then call back only to be told if its that serious ring for an ambulance, its no wonder no one can get an ambulance now! I do have a slight issue with receptionists thinking its ok to diagnose and advise over the telephone, i understand you believe you are protecting the doctors from unnecessary calls, but equally you could make a mistake as was so nearly the case with me, fortunately 111 picked it up and sent the community nurse who called an ambulance and affected person was admitted to intensive care. Please listen to concerns and pass them onto the professionals..

  3. Review titled Appalling service!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Sean - Posted on 27 February 2023

I’ve had tonsillitis for 5days, only way to see a doctor is to chance it via phone at 8am each morning. Tried this on day 2, was told to wait it out and if I get worse phone back or dial 999 if my throat closes and I have trouble breathing. Day 5, hardly slept or ate since start of infection, so called practice to get an appointment. Took over 2 hours to get a call back from the receptionist, who then decided I was unwell enough to warrant an online consultation. I was sent a link to which I filled in all the details of request, only to receive a text 2 hours later to tell me that I should not be using this service and to phone for an appointment! Waiting in a phone queue for 45 minutes speak to a receptionist, who then said it was a mistake and I will now have to call back again in the morning. She also said I might be better to try a local pharmacist (Paddox Pharmacy) as they do throat swabs, only when I attended there, they had never heard of this and told me they thought Brownsover Medical Centre were just trying to fob me off!

Dear Sean I am sorry to hear of your experience. If you would like to contact the surgery and ask to speak to myself the Practice Manager or Tracey my deputy we can investigate your circumstances and look into why our clinician felt that they could not deal with your throat problems via our online platform. It is my understanding that there are certain pharmacies that can deal with throat infections as well as other infections which I will get updated so as not to mislead our patients in the future. I am sorry that on this instance we may not have given you a good experience when contacting us and will feed this back to the relevant teams. Yours sincerely Ms Emma Gaylor Practice Manager
