Review titled Reception staff: rude and dismissive.
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 September 2024
Rude and dismissive receptionist that didn't want to listen to my query. She was more intent on fobbing me off than listening to what I was asking. I was cut off in the first sentence rather than listening to the question.

Review titled Excellent care
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have only recently joined the practice after moving into the area. I was previously at a very busy GP surgery and I have been amazed at how stress free it has been to access your services. The staff are helpful and kind and Dr B has been excellent. I have been through a very traumatic experience in hospital and he has supported me in every way he could, including calling me in hospital to see how I was getting on. I can’t thank you all enough.

Review titled Good Practice (once you get an appointment)
Rated 4 stars out of 5

Generally caring doctors and staff. I would say a higher calibre of doctor than other surgeries I’ve been to in the past. Whenever I have visited, the GPs have been professional and empathetic. However, like much of the country, the main problem is actually being able to get an appointment. It used to be a same day service but now it’s 2-3 weeks to get an appointment. That really isn’t good enough for a lot of conditions and leaves patients feeling a little helpless. More so, when you do get an appointment it’s not unusual to wait an additional 40 minutes after your appointment time to see the doctor. General note: We simply cannot expect our GPs to keep working longer and harder. We have to recruit more doctors or provide better services to help with the demand. I’ve seen a lot of complaints regarding the dispensary but I’ve never had a problem. They have always been polite and helpful whenever I have had the need to visit them.

Review titled Very good Practice
Rated 4 stars out of 5

There have been some problems at the pharmacy dispensary in the practice over the previous year. However, my recent experience is that the team at the Practice have made good efforts to improve things. They now text when my prescription is ready and the staff make great efforts to be friendly and helpful with queries and problems (there is the odd episode of grumpiness but the service is under huge strain so understandable). It is frustrating that the Practice is often closed for training, I realise this has to happen but maybe keep open with a few staff manning reception if possible. The Practice has revamped the website and I find the information and links there to be very helpful. The Practice also now produce a regular news article in the local paper 'The Link' and this is excellent. I know a lot of people in the village read this, it is a great way to communicate in the village. I have always found the medical and nursing staff to be highly professional, friendly and supportive.

Review titled Dispensary gone downhill. Incompetent, slow & often rude
Rated 1 star out of 5

I came to collect a prescription this afternoon for a family member after they received a text message this morning asking for it to be collected ASAP. On arrival at 2.15pm the building was closed due to "scheduled staff training". Why was this not mentioned in the message? I travelled 12 miles, not to mention the wasted time out of my busy schedule for nothing, wasting money on fuel as well. Not everyone who attends this surgery does so on foot from the village. It's a huge inconvenience for those who arrived this afternoon and were unable to pick up their items - we were not the only ones who found this out. This could have been easily avoided had there been some forethought of whomever sent the message. Why can't these training sessions be conducted when the surgery is closed to patients or at least have some skeleton staff on hand? Over the past couple of years the dispensary here has gone down hill. So many people complain about their prescriptions not being ready when enough time has been given to order and when you do go to collect you are often waiting ages because the prescription a) cannot be found or b) isn't ready. Some staff in the dispensary and one lady on reception are abrupt and rude (and I get it can be a demanding role but if the place was run more efficiently, service users wouldn't get so frustrated or hacked off)! The entire practice could do with a good shake up, because what was once a lovely, recommended practice is quickly growing a poor reputation.
