  1. Review titled Inadequate communication

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Camus - Posted on 23 July 2024

I received an abnormal test result and asked me to book appointment with my GP. However never succeed after 9:30am. This happens often and why cannot allow patients to email to the GP and rather to ask patients to wait for another day ? Why questions can only be allowed to raise start from 8 am ?

Dear Camus, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to see you have had an issue with making an appointment to review your blood test results. Our online message system is open 24/7 for admin enquires including test results. You can use this to state that you need to have a follow up appointment as requested in the text we sent to you. This is the same system for requesting appointments which is switched off online when we have reach capacity for the day. This system is via our website. The reception team should be logging all patient contacts and would see if we were trying to contact a patient to make a follow up appointment. It does not seem they have followed this process for you and I am sorry it has caused you a problem. If you would like to send an email to us will your full details we can fully investigate this and raise the incident for training and improvement with the team. Our email address for complaints is cmkmc.complaints@nhs.net Kind regards, Yvette Baker Practice Manager

Rated 4 stars out of 5

i have been with this surgery since I moved to Bradwell Common nd have always been satisfied with the level of care . Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the booking line when the surgery is closed I have been poorly for the past 3 weeks and have tried every day to phone and get an appointment no luck so I tried online every night for over 9 days . I am diabetic and my illness has impacted my sugar levels . after logging on to my account I got as far as seeing a list of appointments and doctors , i chose one and just as i did the site just closed down and I lost the appointment . It needs sorting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Review titled Avoid if you want to be looked after

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Neil Jopson - Posted on 26 January 2023

I joined the practice a few years ago after my existing practice got into difficulties. I have ongoing medical problems, and at first there was no issue with appointments and the medical attention I received from my allocated GP was exemplary. Whenever I went for an appointment I noticed that there always seemed to be people from abroad registering as patients. Now I am told as an excuse for poor service, that the practice has 19, 000 patients; that is 1900 for each of the full time doctors. As a result it is impossible to get an appointment, but that of course is not unique to this practice. All I will say is that if this were a commercial business it would have gone bust by now, as it’s patients shopped elsewhere. What concerns me is what I believe is a fall in professional standards. In February 2022 I developed a skin problem. I managed to get a nurse to book me an appointment to see my GP who diagnosed Ringworm; gave me a prescription for an ointment and sent me on my way. The condition got worse and over the next months I saw 3 more doctors because I was unable to get an appointment with the original doctor, and each of whom merely prescribed a different ointment. Eventually I managed to persuade the last doctor I saw to refer me to the Dermatology Department of MK Hospital. The consultant said that the cause was a side effect of the other drugs I was taking, and he would refer back to the surgery. That was 4 – 5 months ago. I assume he reported but no-one has told me what he said or advised. Eventually I managed to obtain a telephone appointment with the original GP for several weeks hence. 3 weeks before the day, I wrote to them explaining the situation and asked about the drugs. The staff apparently gave them my letter on the morning of the appointment ,so that they had had no time to consider it. They asked me to give a stool sample for analysis, which I later did (after I had recovered from Covid). I am told by the staff that the results came back negative and that the doctor had “signed it off”. They have not contacted me to tell me this , or suggested any follow up as my condition is getting worse, and whatever I have has spread to the whole of my body. In conclusion, I believe that the doctors, having been greedy in their recruitment of patients, have lost any caring skills for their patients that they may have had, and the surgery has become an atrociously managed tick box operation. I am seriously thinking of breaking into my savings to see a private doctor. I do not think that it should be so after I paid a lifetime of National Insurance contributions.

  6. Review titled Virtually impossible to book an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Gabriele - Posted on 31 October 2022

I am a new patient. I called today to book an appointment which is relatively urgent. I was told to use the online system and to wait till 7 pm when the appointments for the next day come up. I was on time, but the few appointments that came up at 7 pm disappeared within less than 15 seconds. Booking a doctor's appointment shouldn't feel like trying to win the lottery. I have wasted a day - had I known that booking was so difficult, I would have gone straight to a walk-in centre. I see that someone else has flagged this in another review, which concerns me that this experience is not unique and that it could keep happening. If this is due to a glitch in the system, I strongly encourage the practice to fix it asap; however if it is not a glitch, they should consider to stop accepting new patients, because they cannot provide a good enough service with the current numbers.
