    I was referred by my own GP surgery to Cestria, for a specialist appointment. The first number I was given for the referral just rang off, no matter how many times I called. I tried the main reception number but waited for over an hour and a half on the line. This terrifies me. I appreciate that the NHS is in difficulty, but I feel so sorry for those who are registered patients and trying to get a regular GP appointment if this is how hard it is to get through to someone as a referred patient. I also feel sorry for those working there, who must be under huge pressure. The whole thing is a mess.

    We are very sorry about the difficulties you have had. We wonder if your surgery had our old specialist services telephone number. It has been updated online and on the referral proformas a year and a half ago, but maybe you somehow had our old number? The correct number for specialist services is 0191 3880416. We are working on the long ordinary phone line wait and didn't realise people could be on the phone for an hour and a half. We will look into this urgently in case there is a fault. Once again, our apologies and assurances we will look into it straight away. Thank you.

    This Drs has gone so down hill recently my daughters 4 years old and has had a wet cough for a year near enough I was given a Drs appointment two months ago and at that appointment got a hospital app for December that’s no good.. what if something is seriously wrong how is this normal procedure and to have a cough this long just isn’t sitting right with me I’ll go elsewhere if I need to I’m worried about it now it can’t be normal to have a cough so severe for this length of time! And then they call me once then leave it at that don’t call back when I miss it I’m pregnant and have my appointments at the moment as well just shows the lack of consideration that they can’t even call twice won’t get her in ridiculous I’ll probably leave the surgery before anything gets done now I’m pretty much left with no choice but to go to a walk in.

    We are sorry about the long waits for hospital appointments and share our patients' frustration about this. We were also sorry we missed you at the follow up call from us, we hope you got the voicemail.
