  1. Review titled Cannot contact them!

Rated 1 star out of 5

Do not join here if you work. You wait ages for them to answer the phone. So long that you cannot do it in working hours. Great, they have an online form I can fill in. Oh! It is only available during working hours even though it is for non-urgent contact. How is this providing a service?

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. We provide multiple ways for patients to contact us, by phone, in person and the online form which is open from 7am-12pm and 1pm - 4pm. The phones lines can be busy first thing at opening and during lunch but at other times you shouldn't have too wait too long for one of the team to answer your call. regards Chorlton Family Practice

  2. Review titled Not fit for purpose

Rated 1 star out of 5

After nearly 2 months of illness - approx 1 month with a virus then a month of post viral fatigue and still feeling ill I contacted the surgery via their get-help section. In my message I explained that I was still unwell and wanted to know whether it was likely to be simply post-viral illness or could I still be infected. I also wanted advice about whether I should have the covid vaccine when unwell. The doctor's response was to wait another month then he would consider a blood test. My other question about the vaccine went unanswered. I am 73 years old, and I don't think a simple blood test to rule out infection is too much to ask. I had been treated at Wythenshawe hospital initially in November who had found abnormal blood results indicating infection, and had prescribed a course of antibiotics. Being told to wait another 4 weeks I think is shocking. They could at least have phoned me to check how I was & what my symptoms were.

  3. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Been with this gp practice a long time but would never change. Great doctors. Prescriptions always ready on time. I filled an online form out and got a reply within 24 hrs and booked in for investigations. I've always found the staff to be helpful and knowledgeable. And also look after my elderly mother extremely well.

  4. Review titled Good practice

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I had a fall on Sale Water Park metrolink stop. I lost consciousness for a split second. I was picked up and dusted off by four lovely people, who discussed my issue with !!!, and identified me to them.I felt OK when I got back to Chorlton. I got an appointment w a Dr the following day who grilled me professionally, gave a working diagnosis, , and my meds were tweaked , and mnuch later had an echocardiogram in Northenden. Then a GP followup. I am still functioning well. This was spread out over a long time. I am happy with that. I stopped telephoning the practice a while ago. Didn’t get answers. I visit when I need something. The receptionists always listen to me, and actions follow. The changeover in pharmacies folowing the closing of Boots in Chorlton has been difficult but is up and running now. I have read many complaints about patients not getting test results. I knew to ask for them. Maybe that shd be spelt out whenwver tests are performed.

  6. Review titled Bullying mentality

Sorry to the one nurse I saw here recently who was nice but in general I fear coming to see the nurses here, who do not know how to treat people with kindness and care. I think the practice needs to carefully consider how its staff address and communicate with people. This has been an issue for both myself and my daughter, who I accompanied on her last visit and who came out in floods of tears. She will not go back. You shouldn’t need to steel yourself to see healthcare staff!

  7. Review titled Difficult to make an appointment

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 January 2024

This practice recommends that you book via the website. This is not very user friendly. It is like another hurdle before you can make an appointment even if you know an appointment is necessary. One question asks“when are you available?” Without giving any timescale. So you might give availability within the next fortnight and then find you are offered an unsuitable date a month in advance. It is also very hard to get a same day or next day appointment. The triage system has badly let down my partner in the past who should have had an urgent appointment. It is up to the patient to define their own priority. It is no wonder people either just turn up at reception or go to A&E Test results are now available on the NHS app but not everyone finds this convenient. You are not told by phone if a test result is negative. Sometimes requests are not followed up. I’m still waiting for a response from a GP to a specific question asked via a web form. I’ve asked twice.

  8. Review titled Overall disappointing

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Aidan harrington - Posted on 18 January 2024

The practice nurse who saw me was very good but the administration around the visit I thought was poor. I requested a “MOT” , blood tests etc. I was told the results would take about 1/2weeks. I have heard nothing from the practice about my results and it is now mid January 2024. By chance I looked on my nhs app and saw all the results there. I was never told that’s where I was to look . I was expecting feedback from the practice directly and have had none. During the consultation I mentioned a lot of my peers ( i am 68) had been routinely called in for a check up. The practice nurse acknowledged this was something they could improve on. I was left wondering why they haven’t done this. I have heard from my friends in different practices much more positive experiences with better communication.

  9. Review titled Online system worked for me

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Richard - Posted on 10 November 2023

I understand online isn’t for everyone but I’ve used it today for an issue about my child and I found it very easy. Once I’d started it I had a response from the doctor within an hour. 2 email chat exchanges and I had a prescription and a referral. All done in a couple of hours. Very efficient and easy.

  10. Review titled Great care when you can get it.

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 November 2023

Access is a problem. Whilst I have no objection to the on line triage system it is not at all working patient friendly. It’s bad enough that it closes at 4pm, but to be closed for an hour at lunchtime as well I feel is unacceptable. When we fill the form in we tick to say it’s not an emergency, so why does it matter if messages arrive whilst staff are on their lunch?

Dear patient, thank you for your feedback, we have recently updated our website so hopefully you will find it more user friendly. In regards to opening times of the forms, we have to close the form at lunch and 4pm to make sure it is manageable for the urgent care team. The form is open from 7am-12pm and 1pm - 4pm. thank you Chorlton Family Practice
