  1. Review titled Holiday Prescription Request

Rated 3 stars out of 5

    by John B - Posted on 17 November 2022

Going on an extended once in a lifetime holiday, repeatedly informed reception and Pharmacy and Dr that we would need a 3 month prescription to cover the holiday period. Put in request for my wife and I with covering letter to explain. Went to pick up prescription and only 2 months with items missing from both of our prescriptions. Spoke to Drs Pharmacy staff and told the NHS only issue 2 months script. Yet asked in two chemists who regularly dispense 3 months, looked online and NHS states 3 months. Trying to sort multiple issues now with missing drugs, drugs withheld as they want tests before issue and still being told only 2 months of meds. But the GP may make an exception. The GP who charged us £60 for two letters detailing our meds for travel? At least that terrible cloud that hung over Reception has gone, staff seem much happier, wonder why. Hoping the Pharmacist staff, Dr and Chemist can resolve this quickly. Seems unnecessary stress for an extra 4 weeks of meds, help I’m not a celebrity get us 3 months meds :-)

Dear Mr Bastow We received your request on 16th Nov. As explained to you, we can only issue a maximum of 3 months medication. The prescription clerk issued your medication so that you had 3 months. We also asked the clinicians to look at your request, which they are currently doing. If certain drugs are missing from prescription requests, this is because the patient needs a review before issuing those drugs. We did make an appointment for your wife, despite the fact that there wasn't a long enough appointment. As your request was only made two days ago, I would have hoped that you would have given us a chance to resolve this matter, before posting a negative review. I am glad that you have found our new receptionists to be a happier bunch! We are dealing with your request and someone will be in touch as soon as possible. E Mitchell Practice Manager

  2. Review titled Fab

I recently had to bring my young daughter in for an emergency appointment as she wasn’t well at all. Can’t fault the service from call to seeing the doctor. There seems to be a lot of new reception staff who are lovely and chatty. Spoke to the receptionist who spoke to the gp straight away and advised me to bring her down straight away, was seen within ten mins and left with a prescription and a follow up appointment

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to post this review. It’s really appreciated, and I’ll be sure to pass on your comments to the staff on Monday morning. As you rightly said, we do have a new team of reception staff and they are really keen to be of help to the patients. This will really boost their confidence. Many thanks Elaine, Practice Manager

  3. Review titled Disappointed

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Mark ROBINSON - Posted on 25 September 2022

After speaking to someone on the phone, whose name i didn't catch, i went through my prescription and medication, which i need as a transplant patient and i thought they understood what i needed, you can imagine my disappointment after picking up my medication that there was, nothing that i needed and indeed run out of. This happens far too often after repeated attempts to sort it. Mark R

  4. Review titled Lovely reception staff

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 September 2022

Requested my hrt medication but I hadn’t received it a couple days later so I attended the surgery. Turns out the so called pharmacist didn’t know the alternate name for my specific medication so declined it an advised reception I needed to see a gp. The young tattooed receptionist was very helpful and efficient in sorting this for me. Even she knew that the medication I requested was what I usually take just a different brand name! She advised I would need to wait until the doctor has seen her patient before she could get me my priscription sorted and I was happy to wait. We need more helpful, smiley and bubbly people like this lady working in this gp practice. The reception team always try to help as much as they can with the limited resources they have. It feels like the medical staff don’t care or can’t be bothered any more

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to leave your kind comments re our helpful receptionist, that is very kind of you to do so. I agree with you that we do need more positive, happy people on reception, and indeed throughout the practice, and we have recently taken steps to employ new members of staff who I am sure will have the correct aptitude required for working in a GP surgery, and for helping our patients. Our current staff do a very difficult job and have been working extra hard recently as we have had a shortage of staff. If you have any further problems that I can help with, please do contact me by email and let me have your details, so that I can respond directly to you. Thank you again for leaving the lovely comment. Kind Regards, Elaine Mitchell

  5. Review titled 5 minutes late

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 September 2022

I had an appointment for bloods taking at 08.20. I work across the far side of Bradford and start at 07.00. I sat in traffic for 45 minutes and on arrival was advised that because I was 5 minutes late, I couldn't be seen. Explained all this to receptionist and also that I don't have hand free and useless trying to call as always goes to 'caller waiting system'. She looked for other availabilty, but I explained that as before I work a long way away, so wouldn't be able to get back. Asked how come, when I have had other appointment, it's OK for me to sit for any length of time when doctors running late, and this is OK for them? Will be moving out of the area soon and can't wait - hopefully get a new practice with some staff and two way 'minimal' flexibility

Dear Anonymous I am sorry to read that you were not seen for your appointment, because of your late arrival. If you had asked to speak to me when you were in surgery, I could have helped resolve this problem. However, as you have chosen to remain anonymous, I'm afraid I can't do that now. If you do decide to stay, I will be happy to help you with any other problem that you may encounter in future. Kind Regards E Mitchell

  6. Review titled Useless

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 September 2022

I am sick of this surgery, every time I need an appointment I get questioned by a receptionist about why they should grant me the wish of speaking to the doctor. Recently had blood tests as I haven't been feeling well, didn't hear anything back so I called as I am still feeling unwell. Receptionist told me nothing has shown up in the blood tests so nothing further will be done, I said but I'm still not feeling well, she then said what do want me to do, I said well I'm still not feeling well so what can I do, huffing and puffing she said well do you want an appointment, she made me feel stupid so I hung up. I will be changing Dr surgery for both me and my son. Absolutely appalling!

Dear Patient I am very sorry that you have not had a good experience in dealing with our receptionist. Our receptionists are requested to ask the patients for an idea of what their symptoms are so that they can be booked in with the most appropriate clinician. They don't need a lengthy description of what those symptoms are, but merely an idea - ie blood pressure, rash, hip pain etc. As you have chosen to remain anonymous, I cannot look into this matter for you further. However, if you do wish to contact the practice manager, please do so and I will try to help. Elaine Mitchell Practice Manager

Dear Patient I am sorry that you have posted a negative review of the practice. If you had asked to speak to me at the time, I would have been happy to help with whatever problem you were having at the time. However, as you have chosen to stay anonymous, I am unable to do so. I hope you have a better experience at your new practice, although I can sssure you that every GP practice in the UK is facing the same pressures with the high volume of phone calls that they receive. Kind regards Elaine Practice Manager

  8. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chris - Posted on 04 August 2022

Although getting an appointment can be a frustrating experience (something that seems to be the norm for most NHS practices these days), I have always found the management and administration of the practice to be excellent. Nothing is too much trouble, and things do get done. My experience of the doctors is also good. They are friendly and accessible, and highly professional in their approach. It must be very demoralising for all staff to receive the kind of criticism contained in some of the reviews on here.

Dear Chris Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a positive review. It is much appreciated, especially at a time when, as you say, the staff are being verbally abused every day. The staff will feel a lot better after reading this. Thank you Elaine, Practice Manager
