    I have been very impressed by the service Coastal Medical in Spencer Road, New Milton, have given my parents and my husband recently. Sadly, my dad passed away in May 2022 but he received so much help and care from this surgery; this has now been continued with my mother, who is 95 and in a Care Home. She has various medical issues which worry her, but the surgery have been very thorough in trying to help her, carrying out various tests and prescribing medication. They have visited her recently in the Home and been extremely kind and helpful. My husband has also received great service, having found that he has ischemic heart disease which runs in his family. He has received a great deal of assistance, having been prescribed medication and sent for quite a few tests/to see consultants. His medication is constantly reviewed to ensure the best results. I have been quick to moan that I can no longer get an over-60 health check unless I have underlying issues; however, I can weigh myself and do my own blood pressure, and when I requested a cholesterol check, the blood test was carried out very quickly. (My cholesterol is perfect). We have also been called for our flu/Covid injections regularly. We are all very pleased with the service we get from the surgery in Spencer Road.

    I raised a health problem via econsult in the afternoon of 2nd November; I received a call from the Doctor the following morning requesting a sample which I gave early afternoon on the 3rd November. I then received a call that afternoon to discuss symptoms and treatment leading to a prescription which I filed at the local pharmacy that day. Pleased to say the treatment was successful and the service I received from the Surgery team was exceptional and impressive.

    I always find the team at New Milton to be helpful, informed and efficient. They make you feel comfortable and I have always received a great service. I have not required an urgent appointment but for blood tests and diabetic checks amazing.

    I booked an appointment after being on hold for 30 minutes and in a queue, the closest appointment was two weeks, not even with my doctor. I go to the doctors on the day, the queue was going out the door, and apparently there was no appointment ever booked. I just tried to phone again a week later. The phone was ringing for 20 minutes, after they finally pick up, they tell me that the computers are broken and that I have to phone back. I asked when, and they hung up on me. I have been going here ever since I was born, and it has been this bad since the beginning of the pandemic. The NHS needs to be funded more so they can hire more staff and doctors.

    Dear patient, Thank you for sharing your comments, and we are very sorry that you have found booking an appointment so frustrating. I would like to look into the matters you raise and my email address is at the bottom of this response if you would be happy to share your details with me. In the meantime perhaps the following comments will help answer your concerns. We will always see a patient on the same day who has an urgent matter that requires attention. For non-urgent appointments, the NHS target is that you will be seen in 2 weeks, which it appears we offered you. Sometimes the GP of your choice is not available, hence offering an alternative. Of course I am sorry that when you turned up, it appeared the appointment was not booked. I can look into this for you if you contact me as I can listen to the original telephone call and audit our system. When you telephoned back to book a further appointment, there was a national issue that morning with the clinical system we use which affected surgeries nationwide, so unfortunately was out of our control. I am not sure what happened with the call being terminated - again, I can look into this if you provide me your details as I can listen to that call and audit the telephone system. Finally, I agree that the demand for GP services is rising faster than the resources or funding allows. We provide over 800 appointments per day, more than 4000 per week across Coastal Medical Partnership for a population of 33,000. This is 12% more than in the year leading up to the pandemic. We are doing all we can to manage this, and have more GP, nurse and admin resource than ever before, along with employing multiple new teams of staff such as physiotherapists, pharmacists, care home teams, health and wellbeing teams, physicians associates and paramedics to help deal with this increasing demand. We have also introduced new technologies such as automated telephone booking, online consultations, online access to notes and electronic questionnaires to capture necessary information. We will continue to do all we can to keep up with this demand. Thank you once again for your feedback, and I hope to hear from you if you would like to contact me directly.     My recent experience of Arnewood Practice was efficient, friendly and very thorough. I had a face-to-face appointment with a doctor in good time after my initial e-consult and I also received tests (via Lymington Hospital and the nursing team at Arnewood), treatment and follow up phone calls. This was all done in a very impressive time frame given the pressures you are all under in the NHS and given my condition was not an emergency issue. Thank you to the whole team.
