Review titled Dreadful duty of care.
Rated 1 star out of 5

My repeat prescription of life-saving insulin pens was reduced by half and the date of the next repeat meant I couldn't order again and would be without insulin for 4 weeks? Alongside that, I need needles to fit on the pen so as I can inject had been removed completely. So denied insulin and denied the pens I need to inject! What sort of people would do that to a diabetic. Had enough and have now in the process of moving to a different GP recommended by my neighbour. Not recommended.

Dear Patient, We have received an anonymous complaint concerning a significant issue with a repeat prescription of insulin and related supplies. We take such matters very seriously and want to express our sincere apologies for any distress caused by this situation. The complaint highlighted concerns about the reduction in the quantity of insulin prescribed, which may have resulted in a delay or inability to reorder, leaving you without vital medication for several weeks. Additionally, it was mentioned that the needles required for insulin administration were removed from the prescription entirely. We recognize how critical uninterrupted access to insulin and its administration supplies is for managing diabetes. The distress and risk caused by such issues are of great concern to us, and we deeply regret that this situation occurred. As the complaint you submitted was anonymous, we are unable to follow up directly with you. However, we encourage any patient experiencing similar difficulties with their prescription or medical care to contact us immediately. We are committed to resolving any issues swiftly and ensuring that all patients receive the medications and supplies they need in a timely manner. If you are the individual who raised this concern, please contact the practice on 0121 568 4300. We are here to assist and rectify any problems as a priority. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. We remain dedicated to improving our services and ensuring the health and safety of all our patients. Kind regards, Darlaston Family Practice

Review titled Terrible service

Contacted the surgery today for an appointment. Calling as soon as surgery is open at 9am to be on hold for 40 mins, as soon as I get through I am told that there are no appointments are left. Contacted 111 who have advised that I need to speak to my doctors within the next 6 hours and that a referral had been put through to them and to call the surgery back. Having done so I Contacted the surgery and repeated what 111 had advised to then be told that no appointments are available and again to call back tomorrow. I completely understand that the NHS are under incredible strain at the moment, however a 2 minute call from a doctor for some antibiotics would of sorted the issue, maybe implementing a system that advises you what number you are in a queue or even a number system that can assist with queries whilst you are waiting? Having to result in going to the hospital for a 4 hour wait to the walk in centre which themselves are under immense pressure, perhaps this would solve some of the wasted trips and long waiting times.

I appreciate you sharing your experience, and I genuinely understand the frustration you must have felt. Your feedback is invaluable, and I want to assure you that we take it seriously. To address concerns like yours, we're in the process of implementing a new telephony system. This system will not only inform you of your position in the queue but also divert calls based on queries, making the process more efficient. I apologize for the inconvenience you've faced, and I'm hopeful that these upcoming changes will significantly improve the patient experience.

Your told to call at 9am to get an appointment so you do your on hold for half an hour or more for them to answer and be told all the appointments are gone for the day, this is everytime. The receptionist give out false information tell you fit notes are now done online which isn't true and when you ask how these are done online they don't have a clue. Really poor practice

Dear Anonymous poster, We are sorry that you had to wait half an hour over the phone to speak to a staff member. We receive an immense number of call on a daily basis from patients to be seen by a clinician. We try our level best to accommodate as many request as possible. You may be aware that capacity throughout the entire NHS is a major national issue. All NHS services aspire to achieve a balance of demand and capacity. However, there is a significant capacity shortage in primary care and the entire NHS system. With regards to sick note, our reception staff was right that you could request it online through our practice website https://www.darlastonfamilypractice.nhs.uk/ You could do this by clicking on the 'Clinics and services' tab on home page Clinics & services -> online Services -> Online patient Triage Also, we are updating our website to make it more user friendly. So, in future you have the option of requesting for a sick note on home page We wish you the best for the future, Darlaston Family Practice

Doctors are great if you are lucky enough to get an appointment. Reception staff are beyond terrible, extremely unhelpful and rude. My partner called this morning and was on hold for 51mins to only be told there are no appointments available. It’s ridiculous.

Saw specialist COPD Practitioner at GP Surgery, explained everything to me, didn't speak to me like a child just because I am old. Very knowledgeable, polite and friendly. Gave me advise I had not heard in the last 10 years of attending. Hope to see him again sometime. Receptionist, was good, friendly and soon sorted my problem.

Review titled Awful GP!!
Rated 1 star out of 5

Nothing but a negative experience with this GP. I come away from every appointment in tears feeling like i haven't been listened to and just fobbed off. The support is minimal and they dont care. Its at the point i leave appointments feeling like my life isnt worth living. At what point do you listen to patients? When they're dead. Really dont recommend this surgery. Since i have joined they haven't got my notes which i have requested to be sorted a number of times, i have multiple health issues so not having my notes is affecting my care but nobody will listen. So much more issues honestly.

Dear Sir/Madam, I am sorry that you are upset with the services. Firstly, we would like to highlight that the transfer of patient medical records is handled by a centralised NHS team, and we are unable to influence this process. If you have any outstanding healthcare needs, please do not hesitate to book an appointment with any member of the healthcare team at your preference. With best wishes, Darlaston Family Practice
