  1. Review titled Don’t be ill when it’s inconvenient to book

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 June 2024

If I ring because I’m scared and concerned about an issue, I don’t want to be told to use econsult. If the issue wasn’t (to my mind) urgent, I would use econsult. But since reception just use econsult anyway , turns out it makes no difference. Of course, I prefer to be ill when it’s convenient for my doctor, but it doesn’t really work that way - that’s a problem for this surgery as econsult is only available for about half the day - even though the surgery is open all day. It’s simply not available any other time. If - as the website suggests - you call reception outside of this time, what actually happens is you’re told to go away, maybe speak to 111. Guys - this is ridiculous. You make it difficult to book and put pressure on 111 and urgent care at the hospital as a result.

Sorry to hear that you have not managed to get what you needed from us. Our appointment line is open 08:00am-12:00pm Monday- Friday. We no longer offer a first come first served appointment allocation at 08:00am, and you will never be told during this time to call another day because there is nothing left. EConsult ensure we get as much information from patients as possible to help the GP make a decision. We do of course, still have to have a cut off at 12:00pm to be able to manage demand. Appointments are not arranged based on what is convenient to the GP, the GP triages the request and deems the urgency of that appointment, this may be same day, next day, within the week etc. Our team of receptionists will then work with you to book this in at the most convenient time for yourself. At times, and depending on the condition we may signpost you to other services. We are constantly reviewing our appointment system and are looking improvements every day.

  2. Review titled No online services available

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 May 2024

Despite stating that I can seek advice or book an appointment online, whenever I try there is a message to say the service is currently unavailable. This has had the consequence of making it virtually impossible to get in touch with the practice, as it’s pot luck as to whether you’ll actually get through to anyone if you phone up

I come to the doctors twice within 2 days in extreme pain in my right side, told them pains hurting when I wee cough, walk etc one doctor said ibs & then another doctor said my right side was just an inflamed muscle come back within 4/6 weeks if still hurting, no blood samples or wee samples were collected from both doctors, if they were to do this they would of found I have a very bad infection I actually had appendicitis & had to have emergency surgery, so yes thank you deerness doctors for the help of me becoming worse

  4. Review titled Awful reception and appointments, amazing doctors

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 February 2024

Attempted to do the E-consult for an appointment but was unable due to symptoms, went to reception to seek appointment and was advised by the receptionist that she can’t do anything and to ring for an e-consult to be completed for me by the staff. Receptionist refused to let me speak, spoke over me and had the most infuriating and patronising attitude. After waiting from being 23rd in que at 8:20 the staff did the e-consult and sent for doctor triage. Appointment booked for same day and seen by a brilliant Doctor who assessed symptoms, took bloods and arranged to see me again next day at ECG appointment. Could not fault the medical staff at this practice…when you can see them. The reception staff however are a different story. I completely appreciate the need to triage and to ensure appointments are appropriate - I’m a registered nurse myself. However having a receptionist completely disregard you and speak over you while patronising you and being curt while you are genuinely unwell takes things a bit far. As the first staff you deal with of the practice, they set the tone for expectations. From my experience the reception staff need an overhaul and considerable training in manners, person centered care and given the advice that while they are an integral part of the service they are unfortunately not the most important person there and their dismissive nature could put people off seeking a medical review when there is genuine need. It is no wonder that the 111/999 service and A&E services are in the current state they are in if this is how patients are deterred from speaking to their own GP.

  5. Review titled I can only rate the service I received yesterday as 5*

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Stephen Wanless - Posted on 03 February 2024

I can only rate the service I received yesterday as 5* I Accessed the eConsult service via the Deerness Park Website & filled in all sections as requested then submitted form at approx. 8.25am. A confirmation email was received within seconds. I was contacted by phone just after 12noon the same day & asked if I could attend the Bunny Hill practice at 2pm that same day. I was seen by an Advance Nurse Practitioner who confirmed & clarified the information submitted on the eConsult form prior to conducting an examination which resulted in the ANP requesting a second opinion from one of the on duty Doctors who also examined me resulting in a diagnosis & action plan being agreed. The whole process from submitting the eConsult to diagnosis & action plan in 6 hours can only be rated as a 5* service.

  6. Review titled Frustrated

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by William ALDERSON - Posted on 18 January 2024

Had tel consultation with a GP, told to review all n 2 weeks see how im feeling then plan a way forward. Contacted the surgery today (2 weeks later) to be told I can’t have a review with the GP for two weeks as that particular GP has no availability until then. So had to book a different GP but got to wait another week. What’s the point of a GP wanting to review me in two weeks when they can’t….. and it’s actually 4 weeks. Just adds to my anxiety and depression……. Is that the way forward.

Dear William, We are sorry to hear about your recent experience in accessing a review with your GP. We have done some work in practice to allow more protected appointments for GP's enabling them to be able to book in their own follow up reviews with patients. We hope this will mean you will not have this issue in the future. If you have any outstanding concerns please do not hesitate to get in touch.

  8. Review titled Receptionist Strikes Again..

Rated 2 stars out of 5

    by R. Taylor - Posted on 03 January 2024

Attended today with elderly relative for an appointment sent to him via text, for Bunnyhill.Didnt know what appointment was for..but Had an idea it might be for Chiropractors, asked at reception…to be Barked at it wasn’t them, and I needed to phone the hospital to find out..tried explaining, but shot down again and told to phone hospital appointments…another lady behind her, looking obviously embarrassed by receptionist attitude explained where Chiropractors room was…Went to that area where a nice gentleman and lovely nurse from a different department explained very nicely about their appointment procedure and took me down to the correct room… They all agreed with me about the receptionists attitude and confirmed I certainly wasn’t the 1st to say the same….. I’ve posted before about the same receptionist whenever I phone up to get an appointment, it’s like a lottery…if I get her I know I’ll get no help, but reluctant to hang up and try later as it’s absolutely ridiculous trying to get an answer on the phone, even if second in the queue, it still takes them 40 minutes to answer, and then get snapped at… Medical staff are brilliant though..nothing but praise for them, just Please, Please, Please, get the reception sorted out, and perhaps get the rude one back to Charm school….

  9. Review titled Improved appointment system

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anne Magog - Posted on 03 December 2023

Having recently used the online e consult, I found it relatively easy to use, infinitely preferable to the telephone system, and importantly, I really appreciated being able to name a preferred GP. Within 2 hours, a call from the surgery confirmed a face to face appointment for a week ahead ( my problem was not urgent) with my chosen GP, who is always excellent. Apart from past negative experiences of gaining appointments, I have always been more than satisfied with the treatment I receive from the staff at this practice, and I thank all the medical staff for their excellent care over the years.

  10. Review titled Can’t get a appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 September 2023

What a time waste … When I went to make an appointment I went straight to reception to ask them to do it for me but they told me it was impossible and could only be done online .. After that, they sent me an SMS link with which to do it, and it became clear that only an online consultation with a doctor is possible on the Internet and not live and in the end they told me that they could make an appointment for me at the prescription only on Monday from 10 am to 12 am This is not serious . I'm very disappointed why there is a reception if they can't make an appointment for me directly on the spot
