Review titled Thank you
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 November 2023
After spending well over 3 hours unsuccessfully trying to get through to my GP practice in Mickleover, I visited the drop in centre. I hadn't booked through 111, but was triaged within 5 minutes. I did have to wait over 2 hours but was then seen by a lovely nurse practitioner who was very thorough, professional and caring. She prescribed the medication that was needed. I would definitely use this service again.

Review titled A very painful and disappointing visit.
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Had a fall downstairs and injured my ankle. The next morning it was very swollen and extremely painful so I checked on 111 website and it directed me to your facility. Got a lift down and hobbled in to a very confused reception area. I was asked if I was booking in and was booked in for a blood test and sent to hobble off down the corridor. Realising something was wrong I went back to the desk where they could find no details of my entry to 111 website even though it had given me a time to arrive. Eventually booked and told to wait...and wait and wait. Eventually called in by triage who didn't even examine the ankle, some details taken and sent to wait and wait. Called in by a doctor who examined the ankle and said that as they had no x-ray facility I would have to go the Royal. He was very apologetic. Why did 111 direct me to a facility without the right equipment is anyones guess. By now the pain was excruciating made worse by struggling to get to A &E at the Royal where the waiting process began again. Eventually seen and x-rayed finding a broken tibia and fibia and placed in a plaster cast. Arrived home after a total of 8 hours and reflected on the very unempathic service provided by First Medical. If someone had shown some interest in my suffering I could have been redirected much earlier in the process.

Hello there, I am very sorry to hear of your experience when attending the service. I am really sorry to hear that you were directed here inappropriately by another service - we regularly review our profile which allows other services such as 111 to see what services and facilities we offer here at site to keep this as up to date as possible. We never have offered X-Ray facilities, however this is something we look to provide in the future. We do try our best to redirect patients to the most appropriate service during our triage assessments to improve our patients journey through the system to make this as efficient as possible but sometimes injuries do need assessing by an advanced practitioner to ensure we are making the right decision and following the right route of care for the best treatment. I do hope you have recovered well and will give us another opportunity in the future should you ever require our services. Many thanks, Livia - DUTC Management Team

Review titled Good practice but one bad member of staff
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I had deep cut on my finger and my finger wouldn’t stop bleeding, first day I went to walking centre the nurse was so helpful she bandaged my wound to stop the bleeding and she told to go the next day to get check up, if the bleeding did not stop and for any sign of infections. Second time I went the nurse was so helpful and she cleaned my wound, checked to see if it’s infected or not and the nurse bandaged my finger again. The nurse told me to go back in two days time to get my wound checked out for any infections. I went to walking centre third time and this time there was nurse/ healthcare assistant at receptionist desk, I couldn’t read her name badge and she said to me that they don’t care for wound but when I said the nurse said to me to come so that my wound could be checked out by a nurse, she reluctantly took my details then said I have wait three hours but there is no guarantee that I would be seen by a nurse. When she said this to me I said I will come back thenext day and I went back next day the receptionist this time just took my detail and said that I should wait in the waiting to be seen by a nurse. I couldn’t confirm if she was a nurse or a health assistant behind the receptionist desk who was on her phone and listening to everything I was saying to the receptionist. The nurse called me into the triage room and the nurse/health assistant from behind receptionist desk was with nurse in the triage room and the nurse refused check my wound even when I asked her to see and the nurse said get checked by your gp but it’s later in the day I couldn’t get gp appointment that day and bank holiday weekend so no doctor appointment would be available. I can’t believe people like that work in care and who have got no kindness or compassion toward human being but they are working in care.

Review titled Very rude and unfriendly staff.
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I visited Derby UCC today. I am very disappointed with my experience. I found the receptionist and triage nurse to be uncaring, unprofessional and overall very rude indeed. They had no communication skills at all, they barely looked up from the computer when talking to me. These people should not be in public facing roles, they have no compassion or communication skills.

Review titled Horrible experience
Rated 1 star out of 5

We have had an appointment for my daughter as she wasn't feeling well but we still waited an hour. The nurse was kind and friendly but I was very unsatisfied with the GP, he has only talked to my 7 years old, only asked her questions while it was visible that she was having a fever and didn't have much energy to even talk.. Also he was talking about things like bad habits of touching our face, telling her to use hand sanitiser after touching anything and told her to take Nurofen for her fever while was not even looking at me. I tried to talk instead of my child as every parent would and should but the situation was very uncomfortable and disrespectful. My child has told me that she has felt bad there too. I have met a few doctors and GP's in my life but I have never experienced such an unprofessional and unpleasant behaviour.

Review titled Awful reception staff
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 28 February 2023
Incompetent staff members , visited the clinic with an appointment booked, was told the appointment cannot be seen on their system and made to believe I am at the wrong location. I came back to the clinic after 30 minutes , staff had changed in the reception and gentlemen checked records and confirmed I did have an appointment and was at the right location all along. This is really Inconvenient especially when you’re in a lot of discomfort. Due to the staff not checking system properly, I ended up waiting at the clinic for several hours .

Review titled Terrible place
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Surjit Dhinsa - Posted on 15 February 2023
The worst medical Centre I have ever visited, went because I couldn't get a gp appointment, only to be told to go and see my gp , this cost me 4 pounds to park the car and 1 hour of my time, this place is a total waste of tax payers money, So moral of this story is wait weeks for gp appointment rather than waste your time visiting this horrendous place

On both occasions that I have used the urgent care centre because I can't get through to my doctors for my two young daughters they have been brilliant. Friendly from start to finish and really helpful, and not a long wait . Thankyou
