Review titled Joke of a surgery
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anne Evans - Posted on 09 August 2023
I have been trying for 4 days now to speak to someone regarding medical notes. You can only ring between the hrs of 10am to 12am the line is constantly ringing with no answer. Previously had a call from gp to say I'm lacking in vit b12 & folic & needed to go on 2 more meds, had to have another blood test a month later & had nothing back to say if I still need to take said meds. Also had xrays over 3 months ago to be told by the receptionist that the results had not come back & I should phone xray department to chase the results up myself.. (not my job) then to recieve a text from gp to say they have the results from 1 lot of xrays but not the other set & to make appointment to see her. Still trying now with no success. Absolute joke of a practice

Dear Mrs Evans, I am sorry for the difficulty you have had in getting through to the secretarial line. Due to the summer holidays, we have been down to a reduced capacity in this department. I have looked into this matter and have arrange for the reception lead and secretarial lead to contact you to resolve the issues you have raised. Once again, I do apologise for the inconvenience you have face. Dr Mala Ariaratnam Senior GP partner

Absolutely shocking service, has continued to go down hill for the past few years. Completely unreliable, horrendous waiting times for appointment or call, keep not sending prescriptions. To me it seems like it shouldn't even be operating, probably the most unprofessional service I have ever used. Their whole attitude seems to be to just fob you off with some pathetic excuse.

Review titled Absolutely Abysmal

Having tried to ring for nearly 2 weeks (over 400 redial calls), to constantly get the message "all appointment have gone". I called patient care co-ordinator (very little patient care), to be told that there was no appointments, I had to ring the surgery, despite me having said I have been trying to ring for 2 weeks. In desperation, i called 111 who said they had got a telephone slot for that afternoon. An hour before that appointment I get a text from the surgery saying it had been assessed by the practice and I need to call at 8.30 tomorrow for an appointment. I called the surgery to confirm this and was told that 111 should not be giving appointments and I would need to call the surgery. I will be leaving Hendford after over 20 years. Complete lack of compassion and humanity.

Review titled Awful Practice

It's very difficult to get appointments due to the system they use so online is out as i don't understand how the system works. So it's long waits on the phone and once your call is answered sometimes by a person with a very passive aggressive attitude and having to explain what you need after being on hold for 20 or more minutes of mind numbing recorded messages only to be told no appointments available. Then when you get a appointment it's never with the same Dr you seen previously, so theres no getting used to one Dr that you feel comfortable with. It's not all negative at least when waiting in the phone queue they don't play Four Seasons by Vivaldi.

Review titled Awful experience

I have been trying to reach the surgery from 8:29 this morning on redial non stop, but it would not connect, line was busy all the time. Past 9:30 I finally get through, but wait in the queue for over 30 mins just to hear there were no appointments left for today and I should call tomorrow at 8:30 again. When I mentioned that i was trying to do so this morning and the issue with phone booking at 8:30 was persistent in all the online reviews particularly mentioning people not being able to reach the surgery and book the appointments for days. The receptionist was cold and rude as she just hang up the phone! This has to be escalated and sorted out. Moreover, appointment was for my child that had ongoing symptoms for 2 weeks now and I had informed the receptionist about it. To my surprise, she hung up after I raised my concern that I was worried that I won't be able to reach them again tomorrow and book appointment for my child. Why patients are treated with ignorance and childrens health is not prioritised, why appointments are only available on the day and cannot be booked for any other day of the week? To reach the surgery and make an appointment is close to impossible.

Dear Patient We have our telephone lines open all day from 08:30 until 18:30, our Patient Care Coordinators would listen and try to help. All acute clinical requests are triaged by our PCC members and the Duty Doctor and prioritised by clinical need. I am very happy to chat to you further if it helps, unfortunately as the review is anonymous you would need to contact the practice.

Initially it is difficult to get any appointment.online consult consult is a joke it doesn’t work. There is a limited time and even in that time it doesn’t not work. it probably worked once and it also took at least 30 minutes just to inform what the problem was. On calling you r on hold for 30 min to 1 hr.just to get a reply that ll get back. I desperately needed treatment and I just received an assessment call after two months.and then I was on waiting for a call for another four months .On one working day they just called and it dropped after two rings before I could even reach the phone .called back right away after informing my work place, obviously after long hold ,the reply was as call was not attended so appointment is given to another patient.I think thats what they did to all patients waiting for too long blaming them in the end for not having an appointment and putting them again on another 4-6 month waiting list .they are just getting payment for Locally enhanced services without providing it.

Review titled The worst practice I have ever been too.

You can’t get through at 8.30am at all, constantly engaged with no queing system. Impossible! By the time you do...surprise surprise there are no appointments left? The receptionists are so rude, unhelpful, have no empathy and couldn’t care less. I was told by a Minor Injury centre that my X-ray results were at my GP and they are just trying to pull a fast one. The receptionist was adamant they weren’t, although at first she said they were back. They refused to strap my broken finger...do they not teach them the basics anymore then? They obviously do not read notes, as later in the week they said I had nothing broken??!!. I cannot get an appointment to go through my X-rays, so I will never know the results...even though I’m in constant pain, discomfort and this is interfering with my work. I have only been at this practice for around a couple of months, but I will be leaving as soon as possible, as this is pointless... I’m not getting anywhere with these and to be spoken to with such disregard. It’s disgusting, disgraceful behaviour and this place should be shut down...it’s not fit to be called a Medical Centre. If you are a new patient... I would avoid at all costs! I wish I read the other reviews before I registered here.

We are sorry that you were unable to book a routine appointment. More appointments are being added on a regular to try to meet the current increase in appointment demand

Review titled Shocking

I do not use the GP unless I really have to and I fully understand resources are stretched but after 2 weeks of acute back pain that is not clearing, I log into the Diamond Health app only to find that I can't use it to book online for this practice, and after 40 minutes of trying to get through on the phone, told there are no appointments available. I then try the online GP, only to find that when I enter the symptom, it suggests Back and Spine Pain, only to come back with no search results so the online process stalls. I hate to be negative about this, but as others have said, the practice takes on new patients, initiates this online systems and yet it is still impossible to get an appointment. Its frankly useless and I will be looking to change to another practice in Yeovil. They are all struggling with the demand, but others at least seem to be able to offer appointments or have online processes that work.

I'm sorry that you appear to have had a problem getting an appointment. Our online system for booking appointments is only for routine problems. It an entry is made regarding an acute problem, the system will not allow you to progress. Can i ask that you contact our reception team who may be able to book a physiotherapy appointment if your symptoms fit in with the referral criteria.
