Review titled New system and staff terrible attitude
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 12 December 2024
Had a terrible encounter with reception. No notification of new system , so queued to be told to book online with no direction how to do so. The elderly will struggle with an online only system. A very disgruntled crowd of people in the waiting room , a very unapproachable emotional angry receptionist who talked over me and berated me Infront of people. Who them claimed to feel personally attacked , thank god for the others in the room who defended, agreed with and supported me. Still no appointment as when I finally got on the online system I didnt know about , it's now full to capacity. Purchased antibiotics online to treat myself at home. Not at least the service expected by our usually wonderful NHS!!!

Review titled Substandard engagement

My 81 year old mum had her extensive test results fed back by phone - not only was she confused by the fast-paced feedback but with partial deafness she didn't hear everything. Panicked by the small amount of information she had taken onboard she rang me. After a 30 min wait to get through to the reception to arrange a face to face appointment for full explanation of the results[ with me also in attendance] I was told to fill in an on line form or the receptionist could on Monday [the service was closed at the time of my call 5.30pm Friday]. This meant leaving my mum anxious over the weekend thinking there was something seriously wrong with her health. The receptionist said she would ask the GP to phone me with test results/outcomes - no call from GP forthcoming - complete disregard of the vulnerabilities of the elderly. This situation has left my mum extremely anxious and knowing her as I do this will play on her mind leading to poor mental health which could have been so easily avoided.

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding your mother's recent experience. I sincerely apologise for the distress this situation has caused both you and your mother. We understand the importance of clear and compassionate communication, especially when it comes to discussing test results with elderly patients who may have hearing difficulties. It is concerning to hear that the feedback was not delivered in a manner that was accessible and reassuring for your mother. I understand that you have chosen to remain anonymous, which means I am unable to investigate your specific situation directly. If you feel comfortable doing so, please could you contact Dinnington Group Practice and ask to speak to me directly. This will allow me to address your concerns more effectively. Kind regards, Claire Operations Manager

Review titled Poor Practice

Having an autoimmune condition I rely on the shared care of my consultant who is out of area and my gp, Anytime I have the need for recovery treatment, no doctor is able to read communications from my consultant and have even seen doctors googling my condition. It really isn’t that rare. My consultant arranged my last few weeks of treatment to finally be organised by my gp to save me the round trip and delay in obtaining my medications I require once every two weeks. This week I tried to order my meds via NHS site was told to ring for a routine appointment which I had to wait until today for just to be told they won’t fund the medication. I now have to try and communicate with my consultants hospital via a secretary to organise this prescription and collection back to square one, which will delay my treatment now. This means I will end up having a flare of my condition which has otherwise been managed upto now. This service is appalling and you find the patient ends up doing the run around because of long wait times to sort prescriptions and poor communication regarding them. To get an appointment you have to wait an age and as a result treatments are delayed. What should have been ready to collect today in time for my treatment I’m now having to wait an extra week and only hope I don’t end up poorly because of it. The doctor was very stern and obstructive in her demeanour when I was simply explaining how terrible this arrangement is, with no alternative other than delayed treatment which she clearly could not care about. Appalling local service if there was another doctors I could use I would. I’ve been able to collect this prescription 6 weeks ago via the gp and within 6 weeks I am now told this is not to be done via the gp -this makes no sense whatsoever as I pay for my NHS prescriptions. I feel for anyone else in this same position because it’s a challenging place to be when trying to manage chronic and long term conditions which gp surgeries are supposed to be there for

I used the contact us online option this morning instead of waiting to get through on the phone. I received a text back with my issue resolved and a prescription waiting for me within 2 hours. Thank you so much.

Review titled Terrible Practice

I tried calling to arrange an appointment to get a repeat Prescription throughout the morning but horrendous numbers of people in front of me meant I had to hang up. I finally got through to the receptionist at lunchtime after waiting an age. The receptionist was very surly and rude and informed me that wasn't appointment available for 8 days when I explained I had run out of my medication she explained this was my own fault and I should have called earlier. I asked to speak to practice manager or get an email address and she refused and said I had to write in to get to speak or get any correspondence with the Practice manager. She explained that she was only the receptionist and had no responsibility about my health and I accepted this and explained i just wanted to speak to the practice manager regarding the time it would take for a telephone appointment.
