I had inadvertently authorised an online pharmacy to act as my nominated pharmacy on SystmOne for my repeat scripts. I requested my normal script x2 as I would be out of the country on holiday when next due. The pharmacy only sent one lot of meds instead of the requested two. I tried over 4 days to contact them to no avail. I had no other option but to go to the surgery to explain the issue. The receptionist was absolutely amazing! She was so kind, friendly and helpful and spoke to a senior member of staff on my behalf. The matter was resolved in such a short time, I was so relieved as it had caused me a lot of stress. I was almost in tears as the medication is so important and so far has kept me out of hospital! I cannot recommend this surgery highly enough, they’re all so caring and always there when you need them! Thank you!

Tried several times for both my wife and myself to make appointments online. Nothing is available for any dates What should one do!! Pathetic. When you try ringing them you are on phone for hours without any joy. How can they get good reviews is beyond me

This system allows us to see how long patients have been waiting in the queue, so we can better manage calls and ensure timely responses. My shoulder problem was not greatly helped by physiotherapy. I therefore contacted Downing Drive and was offered an appointment that morning. After a thorough examination a diagnosis was made and I was booked in for a steroid injection by one of the doctors. I had to change my appointment a couple of times and the reception staff could not have been more helpful. In fact all of my interactions with the reception staff have been excellent. They are very helpful and caring. My treatment has worked and I am pain free. Overall an excellent experience!

: I recently had a severe chest infection/cold/flu and after 4 days of struggling contacted the surgery. It took a long time to get through to reception but I understand this and once through the receptionist was excellent. Within an hour I had a telephone consultation with a Dr and he called me in a saw me within 30 minutes, dealing with my issues and also spending time on my general health and checking a minor procedure I’d undergone recently. Despite the obvious system pressures the staff, the doctor and the surgery remain cheerful, helpful and highly professional

In my experience all members of this GP Practice present professionally, in tandem with demonstrating an exceptionally high degree of positive regard towards all of their service-users. For instance, in terms of a recent inquiry I made, contact from this GP practice was prompt, courteous and professional; I valued this contact, even more so, particularly when set within the context of the high degree of demand and pressure all GP practices are currently facing. Accordingly, I extend my most sincere thanks to the entire team at the Downing Drive Surgery, expressing my most sincere appreciation once again for your valuable support and service for not only me, but also for all our community.

Been with this practice for 5 yrs purely for convenience with it being so close and I've been let down so many times by them that I've now had to start going private just to get an appointment to be seen. The automated phone message says you can book appointments online but there's never any showing available to book. You sit on the phone from 8am for up to an hour before you get through by which point all the appointments are taken and you're told to call back tomorrow and try again. The receptionists are rude and try to turn you away at every opportunity.

I am sorry that you have had this experience. Sadly, our capacity cannot meet the demand at the moment and anything that is not urgent has to wait. Please can I reassure you that there are appointments available on line every day at 8am. They do go quickly though. Our reception staff have been instructed on what to do when clinics are full and really do not want to turn patients away at every opportunity but they cannot fit patients in where there is no room. It would be unsafe practice for our clinicians who already see more than the required number of patients per session and often work over their clinic finishing times. Please can I also reassure you that our telephones are answered as efficiently as possible although complicated patient queries and situations can delay other patients getting through.
