Review titled Caring Clinical Pharmacist
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Melanie Nicklen - Posted on 28 September 2024
I received a telephone appointment from the Clinical Pharmacist at the Diabetic Clinic last week. I can honestly say that she was professional, knowledgeable and completely reassuring regarding my concerns. She spent much longer than the allocated time discussing symptoms and causes. I found out after our discussion that I had been completely miss informed six months previously, which has caused me much anxiety and stress. When the conversation ended I felt that a weight had been lifted off and I would like to thank her so much for taking the time and effort to explain and answer the many questions and concerns that I had.

Review titled Kind and Helpful
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Peter Albert Smith - Posted on 08 March 2024
I am housebound(and have been for 4.4 years)due to long term mental health issues(Anxiety&Depression) and now also have a number of physical problems. Whilst I do not agree with my doctors views about my mental health she is very thorough and spot on with physical health but of course being unable to attend the surgery limits what can be done for me but it's always the best possible....she explained my complex blood tests results clearly and texted me a summary, which was very helpful. If there is a long queue on the phone you can press button 1 and when you reach the top of the queue the surgery phones you back. This afternoon the receptionist was kind, patient and helpful....I have developed a nervous stutter when using the phone but not with this lady for she put me at ease....I should have asked her name, although I did thank her. The Clinical Pharmacist who phoned me late this afternoon was also kind and helpful and sent me a text message with the outcome of my enquiry. I can only speak as I find and if asked to rate I would say 8 or 9 out of 10; the only reason for not awarding a 10 is the lack of understanding of how my mental life affects my daily life but I have a psychiatrist for that part of my health problems. Thank You all at The New Surgery, your kindness is greatly appreciated.

Review titled Bad communication
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 March 2024
When I received a call from the advanced nurse practitioner, I had to ask twice for the person to introduce themselves. Which should really be a basic formula at the beginning of a phone call. When I vocalised that I do not feel being treated with empathy or understanding, she raised her voice. I had a chest x ray which required reporting. The staff member said that the chest x ray will have to be redone, but gave no explanation as to why. I asked repeatedly, whether it was the quality of the image or something is not quite visible, but she just waffled and gave no response. Chest x rays are not investigations with no risks/complications so I am definitely not happy with the nurse's approach, especially the way she left me without any explanation.

From phoning requesting a call back, I was called back within 50 minutes and offered an appointment with, I think a locum, but was very good given a antibiotic/ steroid ear spray for an ear infection. The receptionist, who was in training, was helpful and friendly as was the GP / Locum. Thank you

Receptionists very helpful, but i feel for them having to take the `can` for not being able to access care from a Doctor ! Have nurse practitioners taken over the practice ?

Review titled Almost impossible to get through on phone
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Steven Waite - Posted on 13 December 2022
Having had a scan recently I tried to call to get results. After hanging on hold for two hours (I took a screenshot of my phone as proof) I finally became ‘caller no1’ in the queue and was then cut off! I called back and after a further 40 mins got through to be told the doctor was reviewing my results and would call me back the next working day. They didn’t call me back so today I drove to the surgery to be told the doctor was reviewing my results and would call me back, but no idea when.
