  1. Review titled Lovely practice

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Christine Tomenson - Posted on 05 December 2022

I have been a patient with this surgery for about 50 years. I have always recieved the best support and the staff are always welcoming. In recent years when all my friends were complaining about how hard it was to get an appointment with their doctors at other surgeries, I would always boast that I could always get through on the phone and always got an appointment quickly. I was very proud of the surgery. Unfortunately, the surgery has succumbed to the same procedures as all the rest now and I find myself in the same predicament as my friends. The telephone line is always engaged, no on line appointments available. I do not know what the answer to the problem is, but surely, if a system is not working you need to look for a solution to provide a better one. I don't like to complain as I appreciate that you do a wonderful job overall and been tested to your maximum over the past few years.

Dear Mrs Tomenson Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback via NHS Choices. I have responded previously however my response was not logged on the system, please accept my apologies; I am unsure why that would be the case. Firstly, I would like to thank you for your positive feedback regarding the surgery it is pleasing to hear that in general you are happy with the service provided. We do continually review our appointment system and have made significant changes since the start of the New Year. Our phone lines are still very busy however there are more appointments available to book on the day either a telephone or face to face appointment. The downside to this is that there are less routine appointments to book in advance however we are finding patients prefer to book on the day the majority of the time. We are still recruiting reception staff, so again this should ease the situation however we have only so many phone lines to be answered. I will also review the number of online appointments available on a daily basis to ensure we have the correct level available. I am sorry you have had difficulty making an appointment in the past however I am hopeful that this has improved in recent weeks. We will continue to review our ways of working on a regular basis to continually improve. Thank you once again for sharing your feedback and if I can be of further assistance, please feel free to get in touch. Kind Regards Linda Thompson Practice Manager.

  2. Review titled Great practice and incredible staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lucie Cerna - Posted on 22 November 2022

My name is Lucie i have been the manager at Beech Hall which is not far from the practice i have been the manager for over 2 years and have worked closely with Armley moor and its staff for these years, i can not thank the staff and practice enough for the support they have given over the years they go above and beyond for each and every one of our residents and provide person centred care to all residents living in our care, nothing is too much for them and and they are always happy to support, including those who came and supported us on our Scarborough trip this year, without having the support from the health professionals that joined us some of our residents would not of been able to go, we are always so thankful for them, each and every person you speak to are supportive and exceptional, it is that much of fantastic practice i have even become a patient there and i receive the same care and attention as my residents do.

  3. Review titled Top Doctors

Rated 5 stars out of 5

have been a patient at Armley for years and can not think of any other surgery I would like to use. Unfortunately I have to use their services more than I would like and this frustrates me as I often feel like I will never get better well maybe improve not better and this really stresses me out. The doctor I currently see and have done for the last few years I can not thank enough. She always recommends medication that will help and she checks I am okay. I am not the best at explain things so don't make it easy but most of the time she understands me, she makes feel really comfortable so don't get too nervous. I believe that she would go out of her way to help anybody and genuinely cares. God knows where I would be without her. I struggle with communication sometimes miss understand things on a daily basis but the practice manger is amazing at explaining things. She clearly wants to make this doctors the best it can be and wants to help all patients. A few years ago I had an infection and ignored it until it got worse. The surgery was closed as it was the weekend so I sent an email I didnt expect anything until the following week but I got an email Sunday afternoon and by Monday I had some antibiotics. Doubt I would get that anywhere else. You can't please everybody but I know the manager really wants to There is also a nurse there who is lovely, she has patched me up many times. She is really kind, I always ask for her.She did pull me up on something last visit which I stewed on for a bit but she was right I had help from a social prescriber and I really warmed to her, she helped me with a phone call and spoke for me when got stuck. There is many other staff there who I am sure they are just as good. One GP who I didnt really take to and knows this had to see me for a while and even though he knew I was not too keen he looked after me. One instance that sticks with me was when he agreed to contact somebody for me, I hadn’t even got home before he called me to say he had tried they were not available but would keep me updated. I was very grateful and was really impressed with that Thank you Armley for looking after me and doing what you can to make sure I have the pain relief I need

Dear Patient Thank you so much for the very kind and thoughtful feedback and for taking the time to enter your comments on NHS Choices, it is much appreciated. You are absolutely correct in saying we want the best for all our patients here at the surgery, sometimes circumstances beyond our control mean we do sometimes struggle to provide the very best service 100% of the time however we do our utmost. I will ensure your feedback is passed on to the practice team. Thank you again. Kind Regards Linda Thompson Practice Manager

  4. Review titled No duty of care and no compassion towards their patients

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 November 2022

Absolutely disgusting service to use. I strongly would not recommend it. Reception staff are absolutely rude and disgusting. They have no sense of compassion, they have no duty of care towards their patients and are not at all helpful. They physically laugh over you situation and think sometimes don’t give you an appointment on purpose. They speak to u with no respect, no empathy and it’s not just me, I witnessed a lady at the reception desk speak to a foreign gentleman who needed an appointment for his poorly baby and wasn’t aware of the procedure to follow like utter disrespect she clearly looked down on him and showed compassion, or sympathy, that poor gentleman probly felt worthless and not valued. I wasn’t able to speak up for him as I felt my appointment for my toddler would be jeopardised and at risk. This was all whilst I was sat at the waiting area waiting on a gp to call my toddler in. Honestly if u require the best care for yourself or your family members then please avoid this surgery at all costs. If u ask to speak to the manager regarding any concerns it’s pointless as the manager is just as rude. I mean I was on hold for 28 minutes trying to get through to someone and when I did I got through to a rude lady who then escalated the call to a manager who then on purpose cut the phone line knowing full well I needed medical attention and have been on hold for so long. If anyone has any concerns and you feel like this service is not delivery care up to standards then please contact CQC they will ensure your complaint is investigated thoroughly. Besides i think this service desperately needs to be reviewed by cqc as it was last reviewed in 2016. Please don’t feel as if you are stuck and are unable to report ur concerns to anyone.

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to add your feedback to NHS Choices. It would appear you are very unhappy with the service provided by the practice to the point that you have been very rude to the practice staff. Although your comment is anonymous I am aware of the call that was put through to me where the rudeness continued and therefore I terminated the call. Should you wish to discuss your concerns I would be happy to do so. Kind Regards Linda Thompson Practice Manager

  5. Review titled Always be consistent

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Linda - Posted on 01 November 2022

I have been with this surgery for years , I have had good communication , appointments have always been accessible to the best of their capability, obviously they can not have appointments available for everyone they are not super human but they strive to do their best . I find the receptionists friendly on the phone and very accommodating. Through the pandemic they did their upmost to ensure my medical issues were dealt with as soon as possible under such dire circumstances. Phone consultations have been more than satisfactory as are E-consultations . I find that understanding that the practice has thousands of patients it might not be feasible to please all but they do try .

  6. Review titled Awful practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 October 2022

They lost our documents which we used for registering 3 family members and we could not get any help when needed it. When they finally found the documents after some time and lots of telephone conversations, they could not arrange a GP meeting because there were no spots available and offered to continue calling each day at 8 o'clock in the morning... Just horrible. No help, no service.

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to submit your comments on NHS Choices. I am sorry that you are unhappy with the registration process. We have high volumes of patients completing the registration process daily and the forms are then entered on to the clinical system. Currently we are short staffed for various reasons and although we are currently recruiting this process takes time in the meantime we are doing our best to keep up with the high volumes of work on a daily basis. I am sorry that the reception staff were unable to locate your paperwork and were unable to offer you an on the day appointment once found. I will feedback to staff that in the circumstances they could have referred to their TL or Practice Manager to release an appointment for the following day. Kind Regards Linda Thompson Practice Manager
