Review titled From 2 days to 2 weeks!
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Mark Obeney - Posted on 17 August 2024
Just two years ago a prescription used to be processed in two days. Then it became a week. So, last week I ordered my prescription in a timely manner, as I know it takes 1 week from me sending it electronically to be able to collect from the local pharmacy. So, this morning I go to pharmacy to pick up my prescription only to be told it isn't with them yet. So I check the NHS app only to see it was processed just yesterday at the surgery. I now have no medication and I was told to wait another week by the pharmacy. No communication from the surgery or pharmacy about extended prescription times. Frankly very rude staff at the pharmacy as it wasn't there fault, and I should complain to the surgery. I'm not going to waste more of my life on hold forevermore. If it now takes 2 weeks to process a prescription it should be communicated so that patients can order in good time and not be left without medication leading to something that could have far more serious implications.

Review titled Simply don't do what they say!
by Mark Obeney - Posted on 23 July 2024
Yesterday I asked to speak with a diabetic nurse or someone who could advise the correct dose on a new injected medication. No one was available so I was told someone would call me from the pharmacy. No one called. This isn't the first time calls either don't happen or messages are relayed to the people concerned. I could've easily overdosed yesterday, and this morning I am still none the wiser on how much medication I should or shouldn't have had. If I haven't taken enough I'm now also at risk. This is a serious situation and no one actually seems to care or is bothered. Called 111 and they were just as bad. No one wants to deal with you as making the wrong decision might kill me and yet the same might happen if someone doesn't. So, if I do at least it's recorded here that I tried!

Review titled Excellent service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Ken - Posted on 08 July 2024
Phoned surgery on a Monday morning just before 9am. Short queue, answered professionally, got to explain my issue and was advised a dr would phone, which they did within 2 hours. Spoke about my current problem, also took into account my long term medication being managed by NNUH. Immediately prescribed antibiotics and advised that they would contact NNUH consultant for advice. Had another phone call at 1pm to let me know the temporary change to long term meds so that they would impact antibiotics. Perfect service

Review titled Absolutely awful and should be closed down

I've used many different surgeries over the years but the state of East Harling and Kenninghall is dangerous. It's impossible to get an appointment and constantly told to travel to Norwich to A&E for simple issues. When you do get through at 8:30 and get an appointment it's over the phone and with patchy phone signal due to being in a rural area the call rarely comes as the Dr only tries once or twice. Our family all need to be seen but just getting an appointment is so traumatic and stressful. They need to be investigated because people will end up dying due to lack of initial healthcare.

Review titled Blood test and general care
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 March 2024
You cannot book a blood test at present (since last week). Your name is on a list, when you call up to ask how long will it be before you hear back, no one has a time frame. I was informed they will contact you but no one knows if that's days, weeks etc and if you cannot make that date you have to go back on the list and they will call you again. This makes no sense, surely if someone calls you should be able to book a mutually agreed day/time. If the new system is not working, surely go back to the old until it is up and running. I chased up a medication review that was overdue, I managed to get it, unfortunately cannot get the results of the blood tests as I was informed unless something flashes up red no one will contact you. I need to know my blood sugars, cholesteryl etc results, so I am aware of any changes. The frustrating thing is I only need another blood test due to an error in the information that was requested in my previous blood test. I tried to contact the practice manager on the on line service but that is never working.

Review titled NHS - please help these patients!! We need intervention
Rated 1 star out of 5

I am currently on a waiting list for an appointment. Not an operation, or a procedure, or to see a consultant - just to get a GP appointment. No timeframe given as to how long we must wait. My prescription will only last another week. Anxiety through the roof. I tried to register with another practice, but of course, rejected as this is the only one in my catchment. I know the NHS is stretched but this situation in East Harling is unacceptable and dangerous. Its a dereliction of care.

Review titled Impossible to contact or make appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5

Having moved around the county regularly I have used a number of GP’s practices in the last few years…and I can honestly say I’ve never been so appalled at the level of service that I’ve received (or more accurately not received) at this practice. You can’t contact anyone on the phone (you are always ‘number 9 in the queue’ and then it takes at least 45 mins to get to number 1) and when you do get through, there are never any appointments available, either emergency or non emergency. I really don’t know how to get to see a doctor (I’ve now been with them for almost a year and still haven’t managed to see a doctor yet). I’ve resorted to having to drive the 5 miles to see them in person as it’s pointless trying to call, and the receptionist always says the same thing…’what can we do when we only have 2 doctors for 10,000 patients?’ And having read the reviews it seems I’m not alone. This surgery needs placing in special measures urgently as it’s unfit for purpose, and shouldn’t be receiving any funding if they’re not prepared to provide a service.

Review titled Pharmacy Assistant with poor people skills
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 December 2023
I have attended the pharmacy at Kenninghall Surgery on a number of occasions for repeat prescriptions and have been treated by the vast majority of staff in a polite and courteous manner. The sliding window is always fully opened and I have been greeted warmly and professionally. However, there is one particular member of the pharmacy team who has such poor people skills that I am considering raising a complaint. For example, patients dealing with this particular individual are met with the sliding window only being cracked opened. As I wear hearing aids this reduces my capacity to hear what is being said. This person has no conversation skills; no greeting, not even a "please tick the appropriate box and sign here" on the script that is thrust through the tiny gap in the window. Any enquiries regarding your medication are met with a non verbal response apart from another piece of paper being thrust through the tiny gap and a "tick which medication you want". Whilst I appreciate that surgery staff can be busy, If I was to speak to or treat a member of the surgery in such a manner then, quite rightly, I would be pulled up for this. This does not excuse staff from treating patients in such a way.

Review titled Inaccurate information
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Dippy - Posted on 23 October 2023
Rang for a GP call back.. Noted on my file we ask that home phone is used. Frequency this is ignored. Today resulted in my missing a mobile call. Mobiles in this area seldom work I rang and was eventually put through to GP. Staff admitted their error. The promised prescription for antibiotics did not arrive at the Chemist as promised despite assurances from the GP and confirmation that the prescription had been sent. I visited the surgery to find it had not even been printed and signed. Not one piece of information supplied to me that day was correct. Sadly this not unusual. Attempts to speak to the Practice Manager were rebuffed.

Review titled Prescriptions
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 26 October 2023
After ordering my repeat online allowing 7 days despite it stating 5 days the prescription wasn’t at the Chemist and was told to take this up with the doctor. I walked down and spoke to the girl at the prescription hatch who said it was done the day before but may still be waiting to be signed. She checked the pile for signing and it wasn’t there either so now has to be reprinted and signed and won’t be done for another day but as I’m leaving the country I need this now which was the whole point in ordering within plenty of time and working full time doesn’t allow me to keep taking time off to chase this and collect!! Atrocious service
