Having requested support by the NHS App the admin staff talking to the GP and an 'emergency' appointment was made and the details sent to me. The mistake is I somehow read an old contact and got day, time, details, all wrong. I missed the appointment they had all taken the trouble to arrange. But the practice resolved my error and the GP contacted me. There are many details but I just need to say a big thank you to Admin and to the GP for really going above and beyond. Thank you.

East Cliff surgery has a fantastic system in place for when you call to book in. Rather than waiting in a long queue on the phone, you can select to get a call back and not lose your place in the queue. It’s very efficient and doesn’t waste your time or your money whilst waiting on the call. Also the team are incredibly patient kind and compassionate. I also received fantastic care from the Physician Assistant who treated me and Reception team who are always very efficient.

Called my surgery at opening and got a call back within 10 minutes to book a consultation with a nurse practitioner. I spoke to her 30 minutes later and a face-to-face appointment in the morning. She, and the receptionist, were extremely friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Prescription filled and follow-up tests booked in before 11am the same day. NHS at its finest.

The new call back system at the surgery worked well today. Much more efficient and I was able to get through to reception much quicker without multiple attempts to even get connected. My daughter was seen in surgery today. GP apologised for wait when calling/greeting us. The GP was very, kind, patient and thorough with my daughter. She put her at ease during the appointment. She quickly built a good rapport with both my daughter and myself. The person on reception that I spoke to after the appointment was also very helpful with information regarding booking further tests. Thank you to all!

Thank you for your kind comments. Our old telephone system was only four years old but was as frustrating for us as it was our patients which is why we replaced it. Thank you for bearing with us.

All the staff i’ve spoken to have been incredibly kind and understanding. I feel incredibly heard and not judged. The doctors actually listen and try to help.

to get an appointment at this practice is like winning the lottery. tried 3 mornings by phone then went to surgery to be told I can not book an appointment for a later date. What do you do

Thank you for leaving feedback. We are sorry that you are experiencing difficulties in getting an appointment and we can only apologise for this. Despite the fact that we are offering more appointments now than we were pre pandemic the demand for appointments far exceeds what we are able to provide. This is a national problem caused by a number of factors including an aging population, more patients being managed with multiple conditions, the knock on effects of a hospital system dealing with backlogs, the growing numbers of patients registering with practices whilst the number of GPs and nurses available to see them is dropping. We don’t enjoy the fact that the demand for appointments outstrips what we have to offer and we continue to work on creating as many appointments as we can. Our staff work hard and what many patients don’t see is all our efforts that go on behind closed doors every day which carry on late into the evenings. We do encourage patients who have issues that are not urgent to use our e-consult system which is also available through our website which is an alternative to calling and attending the surgery.
