Review titled Rude telephone manner.
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Stephen Dawson - Posted on 11 November 2024
Hi, today whilst trying to retrieve results from echo cardiogram and contacted results dpt. I was spoken to rudely and abruptly and was spoken over continuously without being able to politely request results and explain my position. After contacting the hospital I attended, and them telling me that the results had been sent I tried again with exactly the same attitude shown on the second call. No effort was made to help with definitely now empathy shown. The department in NHS that I work for records all phone conversations. If your calls are recorded, I would be more than happy for them to be reviewed so that employees can learn. I followed all procedures correctly as stated. I only have the Christian name of the person who took my calls. Thank you for looking into this.

Thank you very much for raising your concerns with the practice, we assure you they will be addressed accordingly.

Review titled A let down
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Steve - Posted on 20 September 2024
Very disappointed - my wife was having a wound treated for 4 weeks that was healing nicely and was then told by the nurse that she needed to go to "Complex wound clinic" in Moreton. The nurse there said the wound was fine and to go back to the surgery, Eastham Group Practice, for continued dressings, only to be told by them that she couldn't be treated at the surgery and told her to go back to Moreton. This didn't work as the Moreton clinic was fully booked. Contacted Eastham Group Pratice again and was told they couldn't treat the wound now and if Moreton couldn't see her then contact the District Nurse to find out what to do. They said they could only deal with house-bound patients and it was down to the surgery to arrange alternative treatmen. This is bonkers - is there any joined up thinking at Eastham Group Pratice any more!! they used to be great.

We apologise that our service has not met your expectations. Our team is trained to perform simple dressings, while complex dressings are managed by another healthcare provider on Wirral, who also handles the training and education for these more advanced procedures. To ensure patient safety and avoid causing harm, our team adheres to the limits of their training and competencies and relies on specialised services for complex wound care, such as the Complex Dressing Clinic in Moreton, Walk-in Centres, and the Tissue Viability Service. Proper wound management is crucial to prevent serious complications like infections and sepsis. Using the appropriate dressing services is vital for effective healing and minimising risks. We are dedicated to providing the highest standard of care within our scope of competencies and will continue to focus on the appropriate and safe management of wounds

Review titled Changes tp Patches
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Len Lucas - Posted on 12 September 2024
What has happened to Patches? It now seems impossible to order a repeat prescription via this very accessible and user friendly portal. I have now been directed to the NHS app, input data, received check codes to input and now it's asking for a photograph to download. I'll get in my car, drive to the surgery to drop off my repeat prescription in future. I have only had very positive interactions with the surgery so far and have no complaints at all about the face to face services. I previously found the Patches system an excellent pathway into the services offered and wonder how many others will find the new system difficult to access and use.

Review titled Good communication and excellent support
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I contacted the practice for advice about my medical problem. I received a call from a receptionist within an hour and was asked to attend for an appointment on the same day. The appointment went very well. The clinician I saw was very knowledge, thorough and explained everything to me in great detail. He explained why I needed to have more tests and what would happen afterwards. I had scans and a blood test 1 week later and the GP called me after 4 days to assure me the tests were all clear. I couldn't have been happier with the service I received. Thank you.

Review titled Thank you
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by L Smith - Posted on 19 August 2024
I contacted the practice today for an appointment for my elderly parents. They cannot use smartphones or ipads and were not able to submit a consultation request via Patchs. The receptionist talked me through the process highlighting that they appreciate not everyone is able to use Patchs. They completed a request for my parents and my parents were telephoned by the Dr a couple of hours later. The follow up tests they needed were arranged and we have another appointment in a couple of weeks for a follow up. It was a really easy process and my parents were thrilled.

Review titled Horrific experience
Rated 1 star out of 5
by taylor - Posted on 24 July 2024
Had the most shocking experience. Back and forth this place over my abdominal pain for years and still get turned away, ask for scans you get told no yet they will leave you sat in pain at such a young age. They left me sat in a waiting room for 20 minutes because a doctor didn’t have a clue on how to send over a prescription to my pharmacy. The doctors are very rude They have no time for you in their what’s so ever. Your needs don’t really matter you just get turned away!

Review titled Difficult to get appointment
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 11 July 2024
Can’t get patches to work so have to get family member to add me as someone they care for to book appointments. They sent patches request in at 7:30am as I need to see a gp. Received a message saying an appointment had been arranged for me in a weeks time with a nurse practitioner despite me requesting a gp. Thought appointment would be within same day or following day.

Review titled Accessing Services
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 June 2024
I find the current system of accessing appointments at the surgery unhelpful for the older generation. Both my parents are in their eighties and don't find accessing the Patches system easy and they don't use the internet. This is left up to me to be able to log a request, this information is then sent to my father who struggles with just being sent a link, fortunately he has a phone that can access the internet but I still need to do this for him. I work full time which means this is sometimes difficult for me to be able to act straight away. I think for the older generation a simple phone call or text with the information contained is better than sending a link.

Review titled The best surgery
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 June 2024
I got efficient and thorough care from this practice. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help me. The new way to access appointments worked well for me and my family. We submitted Patches requests and have been contacted on the same day by GPs and had our problems managed. We've had face to face appointments with GPs and Advanced Nurses and they've given us amazing care. I never felt rushed and I've always had good experiences. I couldn't ask for a better surgery to care for me and my family. Thank you to everyone who works there for looking after us.

Review titled Poor range of blood test appointments
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Dave Fripp-Selmer - Posted on 18 June 2024
I received a letter asking for me to phone Eastham Group Practice to make a blood test appointment. After waiting 20 minutes to get through, was only offered appointments on one date when I am working away. When I asked for a different date I was told to call back later in week. I work full-time with hours that exceed the opening hours of the practice. I do not have time to wait 20 minutes on the phone more than once. Please can someone call me back when there are more appointments available. The next time somebody issues a letter to request that I make an appointment, please can you check that there are appointments available on more than one day before a strongly worded letter in bold capital letters is sent to me demanding that I make an appointment if I want my medication to continue being issued. The receptionist I spoke to advised that they are computer generated, but they would have been designed by a human. The design needs to be looked at again if the availability of appointments is limited and contacting the practice isn't urgent afterall!
