  1. Review titled Unprofessional

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Mandy Jones - Posted on 14 October 2022

I attended Eaton Wood last night for my flu jab.there were 3 patients waiting in the waiting room though the car park was full and I had to park down the road. These were obviously staff cars as I saw there was a meeting going on. Reception was full of staff though only 1 woman seemed to be bothered to attend to patients as the others were having a party complete with balloons behind the glass along with 2 small children. While we waited ‘patiently’ the celebration continued seemingly oblivious to the fact our appointments had not been called. After 20 minutes I went back to reception ( sorry to interrupt the party) and asked whether I should be sitting down by the nurses rooms as I hadn’t been called and there was no sign of life. The same woman bothered to take me to the room but no one was there. She said the nurse might be in a meeting but would try to contact the nurse! After about 10 minutes I was eventually called. This was totally unprofessional behaviour in a doctor’s surgery ( or any place of work tbh) It’s an absolute nightmare to get an appointment in the first place and I just can’t understand why only 1 doctor was seeing patients and the nurses seemed to have no awareness that their patients waiting.I very much hope the practice manager will address these issues.

Dear Ms Jones, We are sorry to hear about the difficulties you encountered when you attended the surgery yesterday. We can advise that on most Thursday we have an extremely busy surgery and yesterday was no different with eight different clinics running. The clinical system we use allows us to check patients in and this instantly alerts the clinician that the patient has arrived. We have spoken to the clinician who administered your vaccine and they have informed us that the template we use to record the flu vaccinations was experiencing technical issues beyond our control, which caused a delay to their clinic. Thank you for your feedback regarding our reception team, we take all forms of where our service fails to meet expectations very seriously and your feedback will be discussed at our next practice meeting and implement any changes required. If you would like to talk to us further about your experience, please email Eatonwood@nhs.net and mark it for the attention of the Site Lead Officer, who will contact you directly.

Just want to say a massive thank you, I know you can't name people on here which is a shame, but it's nice to know that there is still care and compassion shown when truly needed, when things aren't your fault , even though blamed and they help you out, so thank you This relates to a prescription request for a family member, it was dealt with badly, but i was then helped and sorted with care and compassion

  3. Review titled Awful

Rated 1 star out of 5

This surgery seriously needs to be reviewed My dad's medication yet again was not done correctly, I request on the date it states, wait the 48 hrs as they state, but always when I go to collect, 'its still sitting with the doctor waiting ro be signed' Patients are running out of medication, as on average it can take them upto 2 weeks to sign off a prescription that is handed in, this is not acceptable at all, especially when you need the medication for long standing illnesses

  5. Review titled Lucky if you get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Sheila & Eamon Madden - Posted on 05 November 2022

Husband & I have been patients for 15 yrs & this practice used to be great but no longer. My husband telephoned at 8am on 17/10/22 waited 30 mins to get through & surprise surprise no appointments when he eventually got through. Tried all week with same results & eventually on 21/10/22 got an appointment for 10/11/22 for telephone consultation! He is very chesty & how is a telephone consultation with a nurse going to help. I understand surgeries are under enormous pressure, however patients only get in touch with GP practices due to being unwell & it would be of help if patients could actually have face to face appointments. Covid cannot be used as a permanent excuse. I do not like complaining regarding GP Practices but there comes a point where you just get fed up of being understanding. I have noticed there is a big sign outside this practice stating they are taking on new patients. This is absolutely ridiculous considering present patients cannot get an appointment via telephone or on line. My husband has not been able to see a GP face to face for over 2 years. Telephone consultations are a complete waste of time - we may as well ask a pharmacist! I know from other family members that their GP practice ie Eaton Court in Castlevale do have face to face appointments and actually get an appointment - so why does this practice use Covid as an excuse.

Dear Mrs Madden, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your frustrations when trying to obtain an appointment. Daily when the surgery phone lines open we have colleagues in the practice along with colleagues in our call centre working hard to answer the calls as quickly as possible. The appointments we offer are a mix of face to face and telephone consultations. Onsite to maximise appointments for patients we have clinicians with different skills which allows us to offer appointments with the most appropriate qualified health care professional based on symptoms. If you would like to discuss your concerns further please email eatonwood@nhs.net for the attention of the Site Lead Officer.

  6. Review titled Confusing as to there actual purpose

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Arthur G Crooke - Posted on 10 August 2022

Apparently GP as this practice can not deal with more than one patient medical reason for an appointment, According to the receptionist on duty this morning 10th August 2022. We were told to make separate appointments for each medical reason.
