    Submitted a repeat prescription (for a new medication I’ve been taking for 1 month), nearing end of supply I naturally requested (via email), along with another long standing medication, a repeat prescription request to Ellesmere. As we can no longer make such requests by telephone directly for repeat prescriptions anymore!! Well not at Ellesmere, but I believe other GP surgeries provide their registered patients with this service! So I discover, (10 days after initial email request) after visiting pharmacy to make collection for those repeats, that usually allow a week after submitting my email requests! To be informed the new medication repeat has not been requested by GP Surgery! Nor had I been notified by any staff at the GP Surgery that it had not been requested or explanation for delay! After I initiate a phone call to Ellesmere, I was in helpfully informed “oh yeah I’ve requested it, but GP hasn’t yet signed the repeat prescription, which will be why the request hasn’t gone through to pharmacy” (again i requested via email over a week ago) and now I urgently require the repeat to continue medication! I was informed she will expedite request immediately, as I informed her in two days time I need a fresh supply! Some hours later, I received a phone call (with no caller ID) during a big meeting I was leading, after hearing the brief Voicemail Message, I realise it is my GP Surgery (Ellesmere), which is in my phone book, that simply states “we are ringing to see how you’re getting on with your patches, we’ll call back soon, we won’t release your repeat prescription request until we’ve spoken to you!” Frankly I’m beyond disappointed, my life juggling a very busy career, disabled mother, it would be helpful to have known, 1) I was to receive a call and 2) when I followed up earlier I had not been informed I had to be assessed on how my 1st month has gone prior to releasing repeat for more patches?!! Especially as I’d already got a planned assessment review after 3months of using, which I’ve not yet reached?! I immediately called Ellesmere to follow up on this unscheduled missed call and was informed in a quite frankly an annoyed & condescending manner, after I had calmly explained the situation I was told, “well I’m sorry there is nothing I can do, if they’ve left a message to say they’ll call back soon then they will”. I tried to convey very politely that it is a priority I get a new prescription, which had been requested over a week ago, to continue taking to treat symptoms and explained I’m out of town on business and it’s not easy to be available to receive an unscheduled call, so if I missed the next one, I’m at risk of not securing a repeat prescription? Where is your staff demonstrating 1) duty of care or 2) putting your patients first?! I hope this feedback is taken positively and supports improvements to patient care at Ellesmere. Thank you.
