  1. Review titled Terrible practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

I order on the nhs app my urgent prescription over a week ago, the pharmacy said nothing yet so contact your gp surgery. I've tried phoning but disconnected every time. The nhs app now won't let me reorder or send a message to the practice. So I'm now sat in Gloucester Royal seeking medical care.

  2. Review titled Thank you!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I want to start by expressing my sincere gratitude for the invaluable service provided by Five Valleys Medical Practice. I truly appreciate the consistent care my family and I receive from the GPs, nurses, and receptionists, especially given the significant pressures you all face. While I understand that wait times can be long and Anima may present challenges, such as difficulty in direct contact or same-day appointment availability, these issues highlight a broader systemic problem stemming from workforce shortages and financial constraints impacting the NHS and social care. Such delays are common throughout the UK and not the fault of this practice. Nevertheless, during my visit with one of the GP’s, I experienced kindness and patience; she took the time to listen and ensured I left with a comprehensive care plan. Great practice, great staff, would highly recommend.

A mix up with my appointment to many texts about time and then they got it totally wrong had to waste an hour. Nurse brilliant and my doctor the same.

  7. Review titled Negligent and rude

Rated 1 star out of 5

Endless text reminders for an appointment that the doctor failed to show up for. God forbid we should express our frustration, it is met with hostility. No care. No concern. No professionalism, poor communication. Reception staff gatekeep and think they have the right to question you about your personal, private, medical conditions. Absolutely awful.

  8. Review titled "Practice"is what this Practice needs!

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Gerald Fry - Posted on 31 January 2025

My experience of this Practice is very poor to put it mildly! Frankly, I feel totally abandoned. I don't know if this is the fault of this Practice or the GP services in general. Getting an appointment is just the start of the problems. The reception screening process is very effective, to the point where I have never had a face to face appointment with a Doctor since the inception of this Practice. I have had appointments with "trainees" that I assumed were trainee Doctors, however, I was not informed that they were, in-fact, Nurses. As a result, on one occasion, I was proscribed a medication that made the painful condition worse. Whilst I put no blame on those particular staff members; they were very nice, polite and as efficient as their obviously inadequate training allowed. I have made on-line requests for repeat medications on, at least, two occasions and had them refused without any notification or invitations to a review. As a result, apart from wasted trips to the Pharmacy, one condition that had cleared up has returned. I had been having blood tests every two years, for approximately ten years or more; I have not had any through a GP Practice since before Covid. It seems that the idea of "preventative medicine" has been abandoned. As far as I recall I have only had one contact with a real doctor in the last few years; this was by telephone. During that call I was horrified to discover that my medical records have not been properly transferred from hard copy to digital; which meant that any professional viewing my records were not alerted to a major chronic condition with which I was diagnosed over forty years ago! Such omissions can have serious implications in many ways! The only positive thing that I can say about this Practice is that the last time had cause to phone them, having basically given up them, the receptionist that I spoke with was a complete contrast to most previous experiences. The lady was warm, friendly and communicative without being the slightest bit combatant. I certainly hope that they can retain staff of that calibre, as they really need them!

  9. Review titled A real credit to Stroud

Rated 5 stars out of 5

A kind and compassionate GP surgery that actually cares for a change. This GP surgery did more for me in two weeks than my last GP surgery did in 25 years. A real asset to the Stroud valleys.
