Review titled Kidney infection and sent to pharmacy
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 26 November 2024
I requested an appointment online at 8:10 detailing id all my symptoms which was clear I had a kidney infection I received a text back saying after review visit the pharmacy which was shocking considering how much pain I was in and how serious a kidney infection can be. I visited the pharmacy and as expected they couldn’t treat a kidney infection as was too serious. I called 111 and was told to go to the urgent treatment centre at 6pm as we get there we were waiting in the initial assessment queue for 3 hours and wasn’t anywhere near the front and hours away from triage and then even longer away from receiving any treatment. During this time my temperature was 40 and in excruciating pain. I had to leave as I couldn’t stand in the queue. I called 111 again and managed to get an out of hours GP appointment, due to not being seen in 12 hours I had completely deteriorated and in the car on the way to out of hours I started convulsing and projectile vomiting. In the end I managed to get some antibiotics from the out of hours GP at the hospital. This experience was absolutely horrifying and could have been all avoided if I wasn’t sent to the pharmacy by this GP and was seen in the morning when I requested an appointment. Kidney infections can lead to permanent damage to the kidneys and even Sepsis which I’ve had before and wouldn’t want again. I think it’s absolutely shocking that I was sent to a pharmacy by this GP over something that can end up potentially life threatening. I understand the NHS and doctors are stretched but health is so important.

Review titled Terrible reception staff
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 05 September 2024
On receiving a call on Monday morning from mum, I attended the surgery to make an emergency appointment. I was met by a receptionist who, was rude and was refusing to make my mum an appointment and was told “I don’t make appointments here, you have to call”. I explained the symptoms to her and asked for a doctor to call and speak to mum. I was told by the reception she was not going to make an appointment and to take mum to a&e! I again explained that this was not necessary and would like the doctor to call. The receptionist replied with “well why? The doctor will tell you to attend a&e” to this I replied with “well if the doctor says this then we will go” again, she was rude and said “you are taking up someone else’s appointment” to which I replied “I don’t care, she is 79 years old and needs to speak to the doctor.”(mum has a note on her file that she is only able to make appointments at the desk). After her speaking to her line manager, she agreed to make the phone call from the doctor however, I was then informed that she was adding to the notes that I am refusing to take my mother to a&e. to this I replied with “if the doctor says she needs to go we will go”. She was not helpful, rude and very disrespectful to an older patient who rarely goes to the doctors. The doctor was lovely on the phone and my mother was told that she did not need to attend a&e and could not understand why the receptionist advised this. We have been patients at this practice for many years and find it awful that old people, who don’t have access to the Internet have to struggle to get an appointment. Luckily the doctor was understanding and gave mum a face to face appointment 2 hours later. Imagine I took her to a&e and sat there for 7,8,9 hours just for some antibiotics that have worked?! It’s ridiculous to have even suggested this without mum being seen. I did get a little irate as I find it disheartening that people, especially elderly are treated this way. Mum attended the appointment and did not know how to use the log in system for appointments and explained this to the security guard who, was sat doing nothing, and she needed some help. He did not listen and she was told “you have to log in on there” luckily, another patient kindly helped my mum as she would have been late for her appointment. This was absolutely disgusting and unacceptable as some patients are older and do not use media or apps as such. I would never attended a&e unnecessarily unless a doctor said we should. I do feel like the receptionist did not need to advise this as she is not medically trained. I attended at 8.10am and was rather annoyed at the “you are taking someone else’s appointment” comment. I am fully aware there are certain amounts of appointments however, to be treated like that for an elderly lady is appalling. The doctor was great and extremely helpful.

Review titled Left in tears…
by Cindylou Turner-Taylor - Posted on 15 August 2024
All I asked was ‘What happened to my hospital referral?’ and was left feeling unheard and frustrated. I had to correct the GP because they weren’t listening to me, meaning I had to keep repeating points. They were clearly irritated with me, short tempered and abrupt. Then they told me I had been referred again. When they forwarded the letter of referral, it was to physio again, not to the hospital as they had said. This happened in the autumn, when I was also told the NHS no longer did thumb joint replacements. I challenged this saying it was u true. After double checking on line, they apologised and said I was right. Systematic blocking or gatekeeping referrals, leaving me again in worsening pain, and in tears. The only thing they offered was stronger opioids. Every telephone contact I have had with the GPs in the last two years has left me feeling alone, frightened and upset. I am so shocked by the lack of care, the lies, the mistakes…it’s as if patients are an inconvenience, an irritant. All I have done is ask for help.

Review titled A new low
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anete - Posted on 16 April 2024
The GP (Dr. Cannot be named) clearly thinks concussion is least of seriousness/ importance category since the "afternoon" appointment (phone call) was last on his list just 30 minutes before home time/ clinic closure at 6pm. The appointment felt more like an arguments and less like practitioner trying to help. Remarks like " but you don't have brain damage", " concussion is something football /rugby players get". Doctor was clearly unaware that I've been to A&E or am currently not working as not fit for work, despite having all records available in front of him. Not professional at all. Felt like I was being gaslit. No passion for his profession at all or willingness to help. Been told to seek help elsewhere but it's up to me. Shocked doesnt sum this experience

Review titled 2 week wait for appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 27 November 2023
My wife couldn't get seen in the gp as they had a 2 week wait she has gone deaf and can't hear very unsatisfied with the way we've been treated and how we can get an appointment what's the point of a gp if you can't get seen. They go on about how a&e gets so full it's because of them. If they actually saw people it wouldn't make a&e so full. They need to think of what they need to do to make the place better for everyone

Review titled Shockingly extremely poor service
Rated 1 star out of 5

It is almost impossible to see a doctor in person in this practice. Staff in reception and online system confuses dates and time of appointments. I nearly breakdown in tears in reception when my almost 2 weeks waiting for a face to face appointment for a possible worrying symptom didn't appear in the system in reception. I was sure it was correct so I made the receptionist contact the doctor who confirmed the appointment was correct so they got it confused in reception. I was so stressed, nervous and worry about seeing the doctor already that this incident made it worst. I was shaking of frustration and anger that I had to cancel a work appointment that morning. The NHS staff suppose to help patients to easy their conditions Not Made them Worst with lack of professionalism. Staff are not friendly at all in this practice either.

Review titled Really annoyed

I rang 111 regarding my son today. They referred me to my doctor. This practice literally just sent me a message saying go to a&e. I had to go to a walk in doctor all the way in the middle of Manchester because they actually cared enough to see him! They cleared him luckily but I missed a whole day of work when I wouldn't have had to if our own doctor just took the time to see us! Very disappointed. My son is only 11 and should have been seen expecially with a referral.
