Review titled Excellent team of GPs
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Ka-Yin Williams - Posted on 08 December 2023
Thanks to the excellent staff at Frithwood Surgery - I feel so grateful to be under their care. Last month I had a nasty case of cellulitis. My GP immediately did some tests, diagnosed the problem, and prescribed antibiotics. A few days later, a nurse phoned to check how I was getting on. The condition did not seem to completely clear up, and so I phoned the surgery again. My GP was not in, but another GP referred me to see an ophthalmologist and have a CT scan the very same day. I was really impressed by the professionalism and care of the GPs at Frithwood Surgery. I felt well looked-after.

Review titled Awful practice
Rated 1 star out of 5

Since covid this surgery has really been sub par. According to data you are still only operating 67% of appointments actually see a GP. How long can this carry on. It’s easier to go to A and E than try and get through on the telephone.

Dear patient, We are really sorry to hear that you feel that our surgery has deteriorated. We welcome all patient feedback and would be keen to hear specific examples of where this has been the case to help us as we continue to work to improve the service we provide (you can do this in person, in writing, by telephone or by emailing frithwood.manager@nhs.net). With regards to the data you mention I believe you may be referring to the GP Appointment data which was made publicly available recently. I have attached the statement below from Gloucestershire LMC which I hope will provide some reassurance about the nature of the data you may have seen. Many thanks, Helena Parker Deputy Practice Manager Gloucestershire LMC Statement: 29th November 2022 You may have seen the recent practice level data shared by NHS Digital last week. Gloucestershire LMC is aware that this data is experimental. It cannot be used to compare or assess the level of care provided by individual GP surgeries as it does not take account of the variabilities between practices including size, clinical staffing, and patient demographics, nor the diverse ways in which they provide clinical care to their patients. In October practices in Gloucestershire offered 16% more appointments than the previous month, with over 307,000 patients seen face to face. 72% of patients were see within 2 weeks, above the national average. GP practice teams continue to work incredibly hard to provide care to their patients, at a time when demand for appointments is increasing. Currently Gloucestershire requires 79 FTE additional GPs to meet the BMA GP to patient recommended ratio. They are using additional clinical roles where available to support with patient care and improve access to appointments including nurse practitioners, paramedics, physicians associates and pharmacists. Please show kindness and respect when dealing with the staff at your practice, they are all doing their best to provide care to patients.
