Review titled Great practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mary Ann - Posted on 03 September 2023
We have been with this practice for a year now and I must say that this is so far the best Gp practice I have come across since moving to the Uk 16 years ago! The receptionists are very efficient, professional, friendly and helpful. They are very well trained and they always do their best to give an appointment especially when it's urgent. The medical staff who cared for us have all been extremely professional, efficient, kind, caring, polite and they listen to our concerns. They show compassion and empathy which makes us feel very safe and very well cared for. All our appointments with Gordon House Surgery have always been positive. They keep us informed and always sends Sms reminders about upcoming appointments. Thank you!

Review titled Great practice
Rated 4 stars out of 5

Too much digital for an 86 year old - Phone calls instead of face to face - too much comes in text messages - formerly I had at least 2 reviews a year face to face with my named Doctor - I've not seen him now since before COVID - post Covid things are a little different.

Review titled Professional and caring practice

The staff at Gordon House are extremely professional, and you feel well cared for at all times. They remain one of the best GP Surgeries I’ve ever used. I’d like to highlight their mental health care which is outstanding, superior even to my specialist mental health unit.

Complex problems dealt with efficiently and with kindness over many years from the busy staff. Lots of useful services on site or nearby, like blood tests, joint injections, physio.

Review titled Caring, professional practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Over December I needed to book several appointments for different members of my family. When one of my children started displaying scarlet fever symptoms, the receptionist managed to squeeze us into a slot the next day so that we could be seen by the doctor before the weekend. And when we saw the GP, he was very kind and reassuring. Even though I know this practice is experiencing high demand, the whole team (reception, nurses, doctors & the phlebotomist) are delivering a fantastic service, with high standards of care. They are also really prompt at dealing with babies and small children. At a time when a lot of people I know are struggling to even get a GP appointment, I remain impressed and thankful for the great service provided by the team at Gordon House Surgery.

Review titled Poor service overall
Rated 1 star out of 5

Overall experience has been poor, I have only been with the surgery for less than 2 years and have hardly needed to use the services; however when I have needed an appointment it has been difficult to get hold of them whether that is over the phone or via the online portal. Online appointments are never available to book, so you have to spend your morning to speak to someone if you are lucky to have network for that long whilst you are travelling to get to work or somewhere. I was told that I would have an invite for one of the routines tests and couldn't book it in advance, I am still waiting!! My previous GP used to prescribe me vitamins, despite of giving them a copy of the previous prescription, I was told they don't prescribe vitamins and I would need to buy them from a pharmacy (even though I would pay for the prescription, it was still a no) - not sure why I was asked to upload copy of my previous prescription if I was going to be refused anyway :/ I have had on going knee pain that hasn't been resolved and the only option I have is to pay more and go to a physio, since Covid I experience tightness around my chest and been told it is just long COVID!! - I know that but what can you do to help me?? I feel that the level of care and service given is poor but may be it is the system to be blamed as supposed to the people working there.

Review titled Great practice - flexible, accommodating, patient-centred
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I submitted an e-consult requesting an appointment to address multiple problems I was worried about and offering only a specific date in which I could be seen due to work commitments. I was offered an appointment 2 days later on the date and within the timeframe I'd requested and saw a professional and excellent doctor who listened to and addressed all my concerns within a 10 minute consultation, and I left feeling reassured and in safe hands. Thank you so much for a great service and great care.
