  1. Review titled Poor organisation

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Had an appointment for my flu and covid injections on 12/10 /2024. There was no parking as there was an event at the canal basin. When I finally got to the surgery the queue ran around to the goyt pub with a waiting time of 1 hour for over 75s. standing in the cold. This surgery was very good in the past but sadly it has declined badly. Whoever thought of running a clinic on this particular weekend and thought people over 75 would be fine queueing outside for 1 hour should be reprimanded. I was once told to leave earlier when I was 3 to 4 minutes late for an appointment when my husband was terminally ill and now I'm expected at the age of 75 to wait in the cold for 1 hour after my appointment time. Sadly I'm beginning to think this is not the surgery for me.

  2. Review titled New patient more than happy

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I have just moved to the area and previously had an excellent GP service, so was wary of a new GP. Having registered I then read the awful reviews and was concerned. I had no reason to be. I have seen the same GP 3 times now and have found her to be an excellent GP who genuinely listens to concerns. I have also found booking appointments easy enough and the reception staff really friendly and helpful when ever I have rang them.

  3. Review titled Beyond poor

Rated 1 star out of 5

As a family we have been at this surgery for the last 10 years, over this time the service has declined to the point that last week we all had to register with another practice. I'm not sure what the internal issues are that have resulted in the decline but it is directly affecting patient welfare. Last week when I tried to get help with an issue there were only 2 GPs on duty, no practice nurse and no diabetic nurse available for a whole week. I appreciate staff need holidays but cover should be organised to ensure patients can still access necessary services when needed. Last week my partner ended up in A&E due to an issue not being diagnosed and dealt with correctly when he attended for treatment, he is diabetic and it could have had disastrous effects, luckily Stepping Hill A&E were on form and it was dealt with quickly but put at least 2 weeks on his recovery time. It really is very sad that a practice that was so good is now in such a state that it should be put into special measures. This is just our experience on one occasion and ultimately it does come down to funding of the NHS but the management of this practice is sadly lacking.

  4. Review titled Do Not Want To Know

Rated 1 star out of 5

After 3-4 months of extremely poor sleep my wife, after trawling the web and trying herbal remedies contacted the practice to see whether medication would help. Instead of seeing her they fobbed her of with links to the sites she has read. Lived here just over 3 years and she (70 yo) has never set foot in the surgery other than for vaccinations.

  5. Review titled Addicted to web sites

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Having just spent over an hour trawling through over 120+ websites posted by this Practice, including one which details a Doctor who left nearly twenty years ago, I was unable to find the information I was seeking. The majority of these sites are so outdated and contain information that is irrelevant to their patients' needs which begs the question "Whose responsibility is it to oversee this usage?" Incidentally, I was searching for details of their new Triage System, but was unsuccessful. However, one site did make me chuckle and that was one offering, for a fee, reserved parking if visiting the Practice. All parking in Whaley Bridge is free (?). Finally, I note from other reviews that the Practice does not respond to Patients who write reviews, which begs yet another question "Why Not?".

We are sorry that you have had difficulties, unfortunately we cannot control outside websites that include our name in their websites or their usage, we can assure you that we have not posted these websites. When searching Goyt Valley Medical Practice on google the first website to come up is our website (goytvalleymedical.co.uk) and this is our only website, and on the front page of this there is a link (Request Appointment) that takes you straight to our triage system. The website commenting on parking is the justpark.com website which will come up pretty much whenever you search for any business. We hope that this helps.

  6. Review titled Useless

Rated 1 star out of 5

Unable to help with simple requests, unable to get appointment, fobbed off by reception staff, ridiculous unhelpful system for booking appointments, employ very few GP's, not sure why anyone is paying for this (lack of) service.

  7. Review titled Excellent Pracice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have found the staff to have always been courteous and helpful and the medical staff well informed, understanding and efficient. Getting an appointment can be difficult as in any busy GP practice, try getting your phone ready and press dial 10 seconds before 8,00am. This usually gets me into the top 10 waiting list and I usually get an appointment this way.
