Review titled Doesn’t value your time, wholly inadequate service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Otgon - Posted on 12 December 2024
The upstairs reception was left unattended for an entire hour, had to ring downstairs to chase my appointment. Left waiting for over 45 minutes, zero update or explanation. Entirely overwhelmed service, not fit for purpose.

Review titled Telephone appointment ignored
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 05 November 2024
I needed an appointment and booked one on Friday evening for a telephone call on Sunday 03/11 for 13:20. When Sunday came about no call was made, I waited two hours by my phone before realised the dr was not going to call. When I checked my details the following day, it was put as a “past appointment” as if the dr had even called me. There was no voicemail, text or email to apologise for a missed appointment and help with rescheduling a new one. And with how long it takes to even get an appointment with this practice it’s very frustrating that my time was wasted and nothing was put in place to correct this. Very disappointed.

Dear Patient, Thank you for leaving this anonymous review which we have investigated. On a Friday evening you were able to book an appointment with a doctor to call you on a Sunday which is a brilliant service which we offer for our patients that they can still speak to a GP over the weekend and book it online. That GP called you 4 times, twice on your home line and twice on your mobile. Your mobile did not connect and there was no answer phone message facility. You should be able to see this on your NHS app under your full medical record. Please be aware such reviews can be very upsetting for our teams, who work much longer hours, and all staying and calling patients well into their evenings. We do try and chase patients on phone calls, but patients should know that on our website our telephone policy is clear. https://www.grandunionhealthcentre.co.uk/telephone-appointments We understand that calls may be missed from time to time. If you miss your call the clinician will attempt to you call you once more, if you miss a second call then we ask you to call back via reception. In summary the GP or Nurse will call you twice, if you miss both calls it will be your responsibility to call back the practice to get another call back. What we expect from you We expect you to take the appointment as seriously as our clinicians take talking to you. Our clinicians do not consult with patients in bed, in the bath, in the shops, or on the tube. We expect the same courtesy from our patients. This is a doctors appointment. If a patient persistently do not answer calls or do not show respect during the phone calls by prioritising the time with the doctor, we will request all further appointments to be face to face. We disagree that is takes a long time to get an appointment with the practice. We have done close to 14000 appointments in the last month for our 20000 patients and most of these appointment are booked on the same day so patients can get same day access. All our appointments are done within 14 days. We are therefore very disappointed with this review with affects staff morale, as all our staff go above and beyond to try and help our patients have access. Grand Union Health Centre

Review titled Rude doctors
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 02 December 2024
Doctors and receptionists are rude and entitled. Many of the responses on social media are very aggressive in tone and demeanour. My sister booked in for an appointment, and she was waiting all day for a call - yet none was ever received. I spoke with a ginger doctor who was very rude and abrupt, but one lady on reception was nice though I am not sure she works there anymore. Please work harder to make your service better - we rely on you for help. I have already started looking elsewhere…

Review titled Great welcome
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Alex Fisher - Posted on 27 October 2023
Just signed up to this practice after moving to London. Worried that we wouldn’t get the attention we received from the country practice, but so far Grand Union has been very helpful offering already prescription review and annual health check. Not so sure about the NHS App yet though, at present none of our previous medical history is visible.

Review titled An impressive GP practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Y. Deutch - Posted on 21 June 2023
It can be very difficult – even nerve wracking – moving to a new GP practice. So I would certainly say that if you are moving to the Grand Union health Centre, you’ve made a very good decision. As a new patient, I am both very reassured and impressed at how welcoming, alert, and communicative the team here are. I feel a great sense of relief that I have made the right choice, and that my healthcare is in very safe hands. For anyone worrying about what is the right place to choose, I hope my experience helps to reassure you.

Dear Patient, We are sorry you have had to submit a review that is so poor. Yesterday we had 120 appointments available online. 61 were booked by our patients. We had a further 368 appointments that were available to be booked via reception and calling 02072861231. All of our appointments were booked yesterday. We are not able to put all appointments online, as that disadvantages our patients without online access. We are also not able to put any face to face appts online, which is a massive shame, but not possible with the software we currently have. When our online appointments are full, you always have the option of completing a PATCHES request via our website. On that request you can ask for a same day face to face or telephone appointment. We respond to all patches within 24 hrs. We never switch our Patches off, so you can request this anytime of day. This is good for our digitally savvy patients, and to register please go to our website. None of our local practices have the online options we given, they all use Patches as their only option for patients. We like to give our patients lots of options on how to book appointments, hence why there is more than one choice. We hope this explains our appointment system better. We do see over 12000 appts per month - so we do think there is a point to our practice. Reviews like this can be very demoralising for our staff who spend a lot of time trying to give patients as much access as they possibly can. best wishes Grand Union Health Centre

The nurse was so lovely and accommodating during my blood test, especially because needles and blood make me uncomfortable and light headed, she really helped

Went to have a blood test ,also asked the receptionist why this year I was not call for the Flu-jab so he said he added to the appointment of today! But the nurse that see me refused to do it as she said”you don t meet the criteria” I v explain that they usually call me every year ,she left and called another nurse ,she explain that “the criteria changes every year “so I asked if I could pay for it and she told me that I can do that in any chemist ,I v explain that I didin t want to do that as they charge too much and I explain to her that I suffer from Fibromyalgia and also have some mental issues ,and I don't understand why last year I was eligible but not this year!I felt really confused and upset!
