Review titled no emergency appointments
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 20 May 2024
been trying to see someone for a very concerning breast lump for days. although calling at 8am, there’s no appointments and told to go to urgent care. who do not deal with such problems which the receptionists shouod know. it seems appointments are just given on a first come first serve basis on the day regardless or urgency. there’s no pre book appointment ever. i have a lot of issues i need to speak with a dr for and i just cannot get an appointment. including for this lump in my breast which is worrying me sick. it is neglectful at best.

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm sorry to hear you were unable to get an urgent appointment for your concerning matter. We have taken your review seriously and have discussed this scenario in a whole team meeting, where GPs were able to advise reception on how to deal with these scenarios in the future. We’re also aware that at times we may not be able to offer an urgent on the day or pre-bookable appointment, but this does not mean we do not care. The demand for appointments heavily outweighs capacity unfortunately. The reception team will always try to help, and care navigate where possible. This means you may be offered a referral to the pharmacy, a physio appointment with our inhouse physiotherapist or an appointment with GP+. There may also be times when you will be advised to attend the walk-in centre or A&E, however, we are aware that these options are not always suitable for your symptoms and that at times it is only your own GP that can help. Please accept our sincere apologies for your recent experience and I can appreciate this is not the service you would expect during a worrying time. I hope that we have since been able to get you an appointment to be seen by a GP. If this is not the case, please contact the practice as soon as possible and a member of the team will assist you. If there is anything else I could help you with, please kindly send an email to nncib-nn.contact-gfmc@nhs.net for the attention of the practice manager. Many Thanks, Rachael Practice Manager

I don't know her name, but there is one particular lady that has dealt with my concerns for my 18 month old on a few occasions and she has always gone above and beyond to help. She is extremely polite and provides a top class service. Thank you

Ftf at reception. Receptionist was on her own with que of patients bless her .she was very helpful and had patients of a Saint. But no prebookable gp appts not even for weeks ahead .been trying for months to see a gp but no hope . Cannot call at 8 am as I do the same job myself answering calls at 8am . Its not an emerg so 111 or pharmacy is no good for me .think I need to look at changing practice .so sad when you work for a living and not able to call at 8am think they need to look into a better system for appointments with gp's

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I’m sorry to hear you were not happy with your recent experience at the practice and as a result you’re thinking of changing practices. Firstly, thank you for taking the time to highlight how hard working our receptionists are. There have been times in the last few months where receptionists have been manning the desk and telephone by themselves due to staff absences. We have tried where possible to ensure there is adequate cover, but this has not always been possible and as a result patients have incurred further delays in having their calls answered and spent longer in queues in reception. We have employed an additional member of staff to cover staff absences, this is currently working well however, it is something we will continue to monitor. Secondly, we’re aware that at times we may not be able to offer an urgent on the day or pre-bookable appointments, but this does not mean we do not care. The demand for appointments heavily outweighs capacity unfortunately. The reception team will always try to help, and care navigate where possible. This means you may be offered a referral to the pharmacy, a physio appointment with our inhouse physiotherapist or an appointment with GP+. There may be times when you will be advised to attend the walk-in centre or A&E, however, we are aware that these options are not always suitable for your symptoms and that at times it is only your own GP that can help. Just so you are aware we release our monthly appointment rota on the last week of every month. This includes a mixture of on the day, pre-bookable, face to face and telephone appointments so we should have something suitable for everyone. We will share your review amongst our team in particular the reception team. It's great to hear that even when under pressure they remain helpful and patient. We have taken your comments onboard and will continue to regularly review the service we provide. If there is anything else I could help you with, please kindly send an email to nnicb-nn.contact-gfmc@nhs.net for the attention of the practice manager. Many Thanks, Rachael Practice Manager

Dear Patient We are doing everything we can to try and manage the demand at the practice, the period between 8-10 in the morning is very busy and even with 3 receptionist on the phones lines, it can still be a long wait, we do apologise for any inconvenience caused and do advise patients to call after 12 when the phone lines are less busy. If you would like to discuss the matter further please leave your full details at reception and the manager will be in contact, please be assured we are trying our best to answer to the needs of every patients. Best wishes Grange Farm Medical Centre.

Review titled Not Good
by Anonymous - Posted on 09 January 2025
Unfortunately the practice has gone downhill since 2021. I have been trying to address concerns with the practice since 2022 and when I did eventually hear from someone they promised that they'd help and gave me a time period which was 30 days but unfortunately almost a year later I have not to my knowledge received the help that was promised, I wasn't informed that it was going to take longer and haven't been informed about the concerns in general. The current practice manager assured us that she would help but to my knowledge hasn't and hasn't even contacted us to update us although on their website it tells you that if them addressing concerns is going to take longer that you'll be informed and kept informed, 2 different requests were also made last year, again the practice manager hasn't kept me informed or gotten back to me about the requests despite her assuring me that she would. I understand that the practice is short staffed as many others are across the country but there is no excuse to ignore emails requesting updates or for them not to keep us informed of what is happening. I believe because of the concerns that I'm trying to address that for the last 10 years I haven't received the correct care, treatment, understanding from the staff at the medical centre and that's still an issue now because I have the staff there ignoring the fact that I also have physical health conditions as well as mental and had an instance where reasonable adjustments were ignored which impacted my health conditions. The GP's also don't seem to know what treatments I have tried either and I constantly have to repeat myself to them about it and half of the time I'm ignored which along with the other issues has put me off making appointments to ask for help with certain health conditions which are causing me a lot of issues. All I'm asking for is to be kept informed of what is happening, I don't think it's a lot to ask for.

Review titled Such lovely and caring staff

I went for my over 40s health check and was so impressed with the service. Marie was kind, reassuring and very knowledgeable. She took the time to answer my questions and explained exactly what would happen next. Even having my blood taken was quick snd easy and I barely felt it. I left the surgery feeling lucky to have such a good service just around the corner.
