Review titled 24hr care doesn’t apply
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 January 2025
Went to the surgery on 14/01/25 and told the receptionist that dr wanted to see me face to face on the Friday 17/01/25 regarding my high blood pressure. I was informed no face to face book able appointment to were available for over two weeks. The receptionist told me to go to the surgery at 7.45 on 17/01/25 and I would be able to get an appointment. Attended surgery in that date only to be informed by a different receptionist that no drs were in Thornton surgery on a Friday and that no appointments were available for two weeks. First receptionist wasted my time as she must have known that the Dr wasn’t in Thornton on a Friday. I’m a single parent carer and had to leave my child with special needs home Alone whilst I walked to and from the Drs when I could have stayed at home and wasted my time on telephone. This practise does not know what the word care means.

Review titled Terrible practice - avoid if you can.
Rated 1 star out of 5

I was with this practice for a number of years and had a terrible time. Luckily I have just switched to a new local one with better reviews. Things seemed to have drastically worsened post joining PC24. I am a healthy young person who has had little dealings with the doctor but on the few occasions that I have been in need the experience had been terrible. I worry for those who are unable to use online services as this practice are extremely unhelpful in what they provide. I have had issues of missing medication from my patient info, staff not being able to find my details on their system and arguing with me that I was contacting the wrong practice, been promised callbacks/issues to be resolved and not had them just to name a few. I have been left without medication multiple times due to errors/issues with the online system. I do not typically post these sorts of reviews but I feel so strongly about warning people about this practice. Phones are rarely answered even at quieter times in the day and appts are impossible to get. I managed to get one appt (which I did not request and rather was mistakingly told it was required for a medication prescription even though it was a repeat one) and was the only person in the practice both 15 minutes before my appt and as I was leaving so I really do not understand why appts are so difficult to come by. Phone call appts are offered and are terrible as you are not given a time frame meaning those of us who work in the day can miss the call and then have to go through the entire process of trying to contact the practice, get an appt, ask for a time etc. when I raised the issue with working and missing phone calls due to the nature of my job, I was rudely told by the receptionist that lots of people have to work and that I’m not the only person in the world with a job so need to just deal with it. The manner was not and has never been professional.

Review titled Avoid!
Rated 1 star out of 5

Since being taken over by a company this surgery is really bad. They made me an appointment at Crossways as they don't have enough doctors to cover. On arriving I found there is no parking even though on line it said there was, I'm disabled and it was pouring down. The receptionist has a bad attitude, which a number of people have complained about on Google. They run several surgeries in the area, avoid all of them like the plague and find an independent. We tried to leave but you can no longer just change your GP unless you have just moved to the area, so we're stuck with them. 😡😡😡

Review titled Request for a female doctor
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 26 March 2024
I called to make an appointment with a female doctor, specifically, as I wanted to discuss personal issues that I felt more comfortable speaking to a female doctor about. The appointment was booked two weeks in advance. The doctor that I saw was male. I felt utterly disappointed and unable to share what the full issue was and get the information I was really hoping for. I felt dismissed and like I was waisting time. I asked the reception why I was seen by a male doctor and not a female like I had booked and was met with a less than bothered response of 'the female doctor called in sick'. No apology. It's frustrating that I wasn't told that my appointment with a female doctor was changed and I feel totally let down. My issue is not resolved.
