When I called there was an option to select to book an appointment. I was in the que and then opted for them to call back. When they called me back I was asked about all the symptoms I have and was informed that there is no routine appointment available. Why do they have to have a system of booking appointment then?

Review titled Reception team improved but sadly GP doesn’t care
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Linda - Posted on 29 March 2024
The reception team are great! They are polite, understanding and do their best to help, unlike a few years back. I’ve been with this practice for over 40 years. However, the doctor I spoke to just isn’t interested. I’ve been told by both my optician and private GP that I need to see my doctor (more recently due to privately taken blood test confirming the optician’s concerns). The GP at Greenside did not believe the validity of these tests. Questioned where they were taken and whether the results had been reviewed by a doctor (which they had by a private GP), he asked to see proof and since emailing, I haven’t heard anything since despite the receptionist saying he would send a reminder. The same issue occurred when my daughter asked for help a few months back. The same GP just was not interested in helping her. She’s still suffering.

Review titled Doctors are very good
Rated 1 star out of 5

I had very bad experience dealing with receptionists at the surgery and I am leaving a review for the Practice to overlook the issue and provide training or feedback to the staff if needed. The receptionists are the front facing role of this practice and they are dealing with a stressful and challenging environment however patient centered care is essential as part of their job role. I came to book an appointment for my mother who doesn't speak English and the receptionist told me they have no appointments. I was trying to explain to explain to her why I need a slot as i am working full time and i am finding it hard to get time off from work. Sadly she doesn't care why I was there. Not paying attention to the conversation. I asked about arranging a translator and rather than saying yes we do, she looked at the screen as she is busy and said yeah! I had many bad experience with the reception staff as I am dealing with my parents and my appointments. My parents are registered at the surgery for more than 20 years and We preferred to be under the same family doctor who knows their health conditions. There were many times we have thought about changing the practice but the doctors here are highly professional. Any time my parents wants to see the doctor, it makes me so anxious because I have to deal with the reception. There are very few receptionists who are very friendly and helpful. I heard comments from the reception staff before that if you are in this country you need to speak English. I am also a health care professional and deal with patients with different needs. I strongly believe the practice need to implement some Equality and diversity training or policy for the front line staff. Since we moved to this country we all are registered under this practice and really hope things will change. Immigrants are beneficial to the economy. My mum and dad both worked hard with all their medical conditions and paid tax. Even though their circumstances didn't let them to learn English while being in this country they do deserve to get treated with better care. Being their voice and getting appointments which suit them and also our work and life is stressful sometimes. I hope things will change and their will be a better way of communicating with patients from the reception staff. Patients are there to get help and advice not to feel anxious. The ways of communication plays a vital role being a receptionist, body language, eye contact , tone of voice, safety netting, show empathy, active listening. I been a receptionist and I understand it is not an easy job but they can make a big difference in others lives and its a very rewarding job.
