  1. Review titled Timely, helpful and efficient service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I made an appointment from Hemsworth and was seen the same day at Green View. My appointment was on time (early even!) and the doctor that helped with my issue listened carefully, and provided me with options to choose from to solve the issue. The necessary medication was prescribed, along with the booking for a a follow up appointment. My worries have been eased and I know what the plan is going forward. GP service at its best, thank you very much.

  2. Review titled Diabolical service

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have never known anything like the absolute ordeal to see a GP. Receptionists denying access to a GP for a chest infection and saying I had to go to a respiratory unit an hour away. Call morning after morning first thing to be denied an appointment despite having a very complex medical history and undergoing treatment, being told that the only way to get an appointment is to come in at 8am which is an impossibility for me. In five years I have managed to see a GP twic. No wonder individuals become seriously unwell with the absolute lack of access to services and the poor response from administrative staff despite several complaints.

Dear Patient I am sorry to read your recent feedback and what you have described as an “absolute ordeal” to see a GP. This is certainly not the customer service we aim to provide to our patients. I am sorry that you felt that our reception team were “denying you access” to an appointment and didn’t provide you with the help and support that you needed when you contacted the surgery. You can book appointments via telephone, by coming into the surgery, or via 24/7 online access. Unfortunately, the demand for NHS services is greater than capacity, despite our best efforts to provide excellent service to all of our patients Our reception team are trained in care navigating patients to other services which may be more appropriate for the symptoms that they are experiencing at the time of contact. I am sorry if you have felt let down by the practice. If you would like us to address any specific concerns then please do get in contact with us directly and we will be happy to discuss these with you.

Asked for appointment. Asked for reason. Response was, not acceptable, due to personal reasons, then was told to see a chemist. Shocking. Lived in Upton for 4 yrs, 1st time asking for appointment. 2 issues re,health, will be passing on to higher authorities.

Dear David I am sorry to hear of your disappointment following your recent contact with the practice. When you contact the surgery to request an appointment, our receptionists will ask if you are happy to give a reason for the appointment – this is so that they can ensure your appointment is booked with the most appropriate member of our clinical team. Our receptionists have also been trained to care navigate patients to the most appropriate service for their needs – this may not always be a GP appointment. Patients may therefore be asked to see their pharmacist, optician or dentist or be directed to the Urgent Treatment Centre. This is to ensure that patients receive the best possible care and, furthermore, as our daily demand far exceeds our capacity, it is to make sure that GP appointments are available for those patients who really need them. Please be reassured that a patient is not discriminated again if they would prefer not to give a reason for the appointment, but it does help us to help book you the most appropriate appointment if you are willing to share this information with us. If you would like us to look into your concerns further then please contact the practice. We do strive to provide high quality, individualised care to all our patients, and I am sorry that this was not reflective of your recent experience. I do hope that any future contact will be more positive.
