  1. Review titled Shocking practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 April 2023

I was sent a txt by the surgery to make an appointment to discuss my lifelong care. So I rang up to make a appointment I was number 2 in the queue then went to number 1 after about 2 minutes then I was number 1 in the queue for over half a hour so I stayed on the phone and walked down to the surgery whilst still on hold when I arrived at the surgery there was no one at all in the waiting room and 3 receptionists sat there . I said why are you not answering the phones she replied (very rudely)we are extremely busy so I said I’m on hold to you right now and showed her my phone still on hold I was on hold for just over a hour at this point . I said can I make an appointment please and she had the cheek to tell me ring back at 8 am we have no appointments. So I just walked out laughing to myself what absolute joke this practice is it’s the worst one ever please don’t sign up here . I’m in the process of changing surgery’s now which is a shame because it use to be fantastic I think this surgery really needs looking into my higher up people. As for my appointment I think I will just go one the nhs website and sort myself out. If you want a genuine caring doctors that listen to you please avoid this surgery.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your comments, Im very sorry to hear you have been struggling to book an appointment. We have been transitioning to a new appointment system which is now live and unfortunately has caused slight delay during the process. We are hopeful that this new system will support patients to access appointments more effectively and efficiently. Please do visit our website for more information on this system or contact our practice directly who can help you to use the new system. The new system is designed to minimise calls to the practice, meaning that patients will not have such lengthy waits over the phone too. Kind regards Sam McDonagh Operations Manager.

You're currently caller number 1 in the queue". Absolutely sick of hearing that for 20 minutes. Answer the phones and stop being lazy

Dear Patient, Thank you for your comments. We appreciate it is really frustrating being on hold on the phone. Our reception team work extremely hard and its important to note, that they do have lots of administrative roles to undertake alongside answering phones, such as raising referrals, filing clinical letters and much more. It may be of interest to you that we have launched a new appointment system this week, which allows patients to submit an online triage form, meaning you no longer need to ring us at 8am to request an appointment. This in turn will help to free up the phone lines for those patients that need to speak to our team members. More information about this system can be found on our website. Thank you Sam McDonagh Operations Manager.

  3. Review titled Appalling receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 March 2023

I witnessed a receptionist today deal with a very vulnerable mental health patient, she was rude, lacked empathy and dismissed him quickly from the surgery, complaining loudly in the process about her workload. I am appalled by her unprofessional and intimidating manner and working within the NHS myself I find it concerning that she is able to conduct herself in such a way.

  4. Review titled Very poor "care"

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Kelly Pilkington - Posted on 23 December 2022

My 17 week old daughter started with a cough/cold. After a couple of days she started wheezing and showing recession when breathing in. I rang the GP on one phone and 111 on another as I know from experience that the receptionist will just direct you to 111 any way. 5th in the queue for over 10 minutes at 1715 and 111 answered first. After the assessment they recommended an ambulance. The ambulance service rang me straight after and obviously explained how stretched they are. They then proceeded to do a live link video call to review her. As our GP practice was still open, they advised that they wanted her checking and they would ring the GP and send over the notes. They rang back 15 minutes later, very apologetic as they were on hold to get through to the GP. They advised the GP would phone me but said I should head over to them as it was nearly 1800 and they close at 1830. We got in the car and the GP rang. He went through exactly the same assessment stating that he had no notes. I questioned what the point was as she just needed someone to check her breathing and he could hear her crying, coughing and wheezing in the background. He then clearly stated that he couldn't see her until tomorrow even though he was ringing from the practice and I was outside! I asked what I should do if she gets worse and his statement was, "Well if you are worried you should go to A&E or the walk in." 5 hours in A&E and my daughter has bronchiolitis and will be visited by the community nursing team. I am disgusted by the lack of care from the GP and will be making a formal complaint. The hospital staff were under so much pressure and it is clearly not helped by GPs like this refusing to see patients, especially 17 week old babies.

  5. Review titled Waiting time for appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 December 2022

There are currently no telephone or routine appointments until the end of January. Despite being asked to make an appointment. As normal advised to contact 111 or go to the walk in or accident and emergency . Todays receptionist was lovely and obviously cannot give you an appointment due to systems restrictions and employer guidance. I am an extremely clinically vulnerable patient with probable pneumonia but told to attend elsewhere? What does it take to get to speak or see a Doctor? If I go to the walk in or accident and emergency, I could pick up something more than I go in with. At least the young lady receptionist today was lovely and should teach the other receptionists whose condescending, aggressive attitudes would do well to take note of.

  6. Review titled Lost Details

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 November 2022

I rang the surgery to ask about my repeat prescription not being sent electronically to the pharmacy like it usually is and was told that it had been printed off at the surgery and would need to be picked up. However, the lady I spoke to couldn’t find my prescription and I could hear other members of staff helping her find it. I will say the lady I spoke to was really helpful and understanding and went and spoke to the GP to either get it printed off or sent to the pharmacy urgently. I really do appreciate her help. But I’m now really worried that the paper prescription, with all my personal and confidential details on, is now missing somewhere in the surgery.

  7. Review titled Poor appointment booking system

    by listenxn66 - Posted on 27 February 2023

I haven't actually seen a GP here since 2018ish. I managed to have one telephone consultation with a GP, not really suitable; a telephone consultation doesn't offer the same engagement as an 'in-person' appointment. Of course, when covid was rife, telephone consultations, were an unavoidable consequence, but using covid (still) as a reason, not to revert back to the old appointment system, I feel is unacceptable. The ring at 8:00am tomorrow syndrome is the stock situation now which I find shockingly bad. I've had to visit the practice twice in the last few months, to see the nurse, and there wasn't one person waiting to be seen by any GPs. I asked the receptionist, there and then, if I could make an appointment to see my GP, and even though I was there, in-person, the answer was no and to ring back the following morning at 8:00am.

  8. Review titled Receptionist very rude

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by J.t - Posted on 10 October 2022

Absolutely shocking and very rude receptionist with bad attitude. This practice I have been with for many years use to be fab but now it has really gone down hill. The receptionist laughed at me on the phone when I said I had to go on the nhs website to check out my symptoms I eventually got it sorted out with another receptionist. It’s takes weeks and weeks to even get a phone appointment but you cannot get a face to face without having a phone call first. How are you supposed to show a doctor a lump over the phone. Absolute joke of a surgery. Afrer looking through these reviews I don’t think they even bother looking at them and they certainly don’t respond . This surgery needs looking into by someone high up because all the reviews are negative and they just don’t seem to care especially receptionist.

  9. Review titled Poor customer service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Pamela Hitchcock - Posted on 29 September 2022

One of the reception staff here mistakes brusque for efficient; I was talked over and was told I was not listening as I tried to explain what I wanted and why. I'm the patient , you asked me to ring you, I waited 25 mins for an answer and you have to be very patient to get anywhere with this reception, that's if they don't put the phone down as you attempt to ask another question. My call from 3rd waiting in the queue took 3 minutes to make me very frustrated and annoyed. Very poor service from a surgery that was once very pleasant and efficient. There aren't any reasons for rudeness and I certainly wasn't rude to them!!!
