I telephoned at 8am as instructed by the GPs website to book an appointment only to be told that the doctor would call be back. 2 hours later I received the call but not from a doctor but a 1st year medical student. She took down questions and then told me that they could not offer me a GPs appointment even though 111 said I needed one. They surgery suggested I went to A&E so I am not sure we even have this Doctors surgery anymore as they do not even offer appointments anymore and the doctors do not even bother ringing you back. Shambles of a public service and they should be ashamed of themselves

Dear Patient We have now discussed together the circumstances of your telephone consultations on 19th November and I have listened to all the recordings. Our receptionist did not say that a GP would call you back although her comments were ambiguous. I do apologise that she did not clarify with you however, that a medical student would be calling you. It is our process that patients are always advised when they are being booked with a medical student, and the patient does of course have the right to refuse the booking with a student. I have reaffirmed the process with our Reception Team. We are a training practice, hosting medical students to support them in their training to become professional GPs, Surgeons, Consultants etc. All GPs go through this training pathway which is why it is a vital role that Practices can play in bringing new GPs in to Primary Care. You did not mention during your telephone consultation that you had spoken with NHS111 and that they had advised you to see a GP, and our medical student did not suggest that you go to A&E. I did note that the student took a very thorough history of your presenting condition and that she was professional and courteous in her consultations with you. We had four GPs in Practice on the day of your calls. As in all Practices, GPs are supported by a team of other clinicians. This is so that we can spread the patient workflow as equitably as possible, by placing patients with the most appropriate clinician to treat their condition within the right time frame. Doing this helps ensure that patients are seen as quickly as possible. Our Reception & Clinical teams are well trained in placing patients with the right clinician at the right time. Our medical student took advice from an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in helping deal with your condition. The Advanced Nurse Practitioner is very experienced and fully qualified to treat the nature of the condition you presented with. A range of treatment options were offered to you, including a same-day face-to-face appointment with the ANP. I do hope that I have helped to explain our processes and resolve your concerns, however as discussed, if there is anything further I can help you with, I would be happy to speak with you again either in person or via the phone. Told I had a telephone appointment with a Dr but spoke to a lady with a nurse access role who was one of the most uncaring and unhelpful people I’ve ever spoken with. A very negative experience m. On the positive side I was very impressed by the care I received from the Dr a couple of weeks ago.

I had a general health check, with blood tests. Staff were efficient and pleasant. Didn't take long, and they identified a separate potential problem which was analysed, diagnosed and dealt with inside of three weeks. Thanks!

Called on the Tuesday to say my son had been vomiting and dizzy since he woke up.He also had really low blood pressure and pulse called them to ask for emergency appointment because I didn't want to use the a&e if I didn't need to was told no appointments I explained it was an emergency and was told there were no appointments until Thursday or I could call 111 which I did and am still waiting for them to call back.worst surgery I have ever experienced since I moved here now I cannot wait to leave myself and family are always well and this is my first experience with doctors in years such a truly awful service.

Dear Mrs Gilbert It is appropriate that you ring NHS 111 for Medical Emergencies but we cannot comment on why you didn't receive a call back from that service provider. You were offered a routine appointment on the Thursday, which was within 48 hours of you calling on the Tuesday prior, so we would consider this appointment to be within an acceptable timeframe.
