Review titled Worst practice
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Vicky Dyer - Posted on 18 July 2023
Can’t get appointments when your repeat prescription runs out for medication you have to take every day they say you have to book a appointment but don’t have any appointments so your left for days without medication you are supposed to take every day you can never talk to anyone other than a receptionist who needs to know your whole medical history before telling you they have no appointments Terrible service

Review titled Impossible to contact
Rated 1 star out of 5

This practice tries to have an easier access via Apps, however any time I use the apps the appointments are fully booked. It's the same when trying to call, either you get hung up after waiting in the queue for 30-45minutes, when it comes to your turn, or the appointments are fully booked and you are either re-directed to 111, urgent care practice to call tomorrow. Continues care and follow-up is poor and communication has to be demanded by the patient. As somebody who works for the NHS myself, I am deeply disappointed in this service.

Review titled Things need to change
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Lou - Posted on 21 July 2023
I don’t often need an appointment, usually using the app to order repeat meds, (challenging enough in itself another story..). When I have actually managed to get an appointment though there is no indication of when someone will call. I’ve then missed calls as I work full time, or they don’t call at all. The attitude of the reception staff is extremely lacking. I called for an appointment recently for a medication change, simple enough. That basic info plus my date of birth should be enough to book my same day appointment, but I was asked which medication I wanted to change and why the change by a receptionist who could not then find it on the system, when I had spelled it out she still got the name wrong. She then complained to me ‘there’s lots of other people in the queue you know’. It’s not my choice to give all this detail to the receptionist, and it’s unhelpful surely when it could also be wrong information. I have often called 111 when there are no appointments and recommend this route as unless you are able to call at 8am sharp there won’t be any appointments. If you commute at all it’s impossible to call at that time. The app can’t be used to book appointments, as in the time you’ve filled in the form there are no appointments left.

Reception staff either don't care or need review of customer service training. I'm not sure what happening with booking appointments process either. A mess.

Review titled Nurses not doctors
Rated 3 stars out of 5

It's not clear if you're seeing a doctor or not, sometimes you see someone who isn't a doctor but it's all done like they are a doctor and don't explain to you that they're not. Also you can't get through on the phone, they just never answer.

Review titled Inadequate
Rated 1 star out of 5

Absolutely impossible to get an appointment, have tried for days on end and ultimately run out of medication. Seems to be standard at this surgery. The receptionists are not helpful and it is absolutely impossible to get any type of appointment from a doctor.

Review titled Gone downhill
Rated 2 stars out of 5

It's unfortunate to have to leave this review. When I joined this GP five years ago, I found it refreshingly efficient, and even encouraged friends/family in the area to switch to Hanley. Perhaps it is a victim of its past success. Sadly, despite regularly trying via the app and phone call early in the morning, I haven't been able to get an appointment for several months. I sympathise with the government cuts that have no doubt lead to this situation, but I cannot in good faith continue to recommend a GP practice where it is impossible to ever see or even speak to a health professional.

No one is picking up my call. They asked me to call back but they wouldn’t answer my call nor call Me back. They will cancel my ordered medication without telling me the reason. There’s even this one rude lady who told me she needed to cut my call so that she can answer the call after me because I had been with her for 7 minutes ! So she needed to answer the call after me without even asking if my concern was solve. I was on queue for that call for half an hour.
