  1. Review titled Impossible to get appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 December 2022

I’m sure that the doctors are all good, but boy is it impossible to get an appointment here. What’s the point in building all the new houses in fleet if it can’t cope with medical needs. My partner has had a bad stomach for a long time I finally persuaded him to let me do an e-consult which I did, but after a week heard nothing. He called finally to arrange an appointment only to be told there was no one available and that they’ll try and get round to looking at the form. I sincerely hope he doesn’t have a serious ailment because if so I will hold the surgery responsible for delaying the opportunity to help him. Might as well just do away with the practice altogether and allow us all to live by the will of the gods. To the government - stop building new homes in areas without having appropriate infrastructure and facilities for the people who live here already.

I called at 8.20 this morning to a recored message to say they are not taking any more patients today. This is discussing. I've tried calling 111 but 4 hours later no answer. Uou can understand why a and e is overwhelmed when surgery's won't help

  3. Review titled impossible to see a gp

Rated 2 stars out of 5

told by a nurse I need to book in to see a GP. Then told by reception I had to phone Monday morning to book. I was one of 40 callers and could not hold as I had to return to work. Tried again later, same problem. Finally got through and told there are no appointments and to complete an online form as this was the quickest route to contact a GP. GP texts to say book an appointment. Unfortunately, this has been my experience every time I have needed a consult. I am unsure how elderly patients manage this system. Also, there is one receptionist who needs to be trained how to talk to people in distress or feeling over sensitive/unwell. I find her very officious and rude. The others are lovely and remain calm and empathetic

  4. Review titled Booking appointment

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Richard G Smith - Posted on 29 October 2022

As I am hard of hearing I walked to the reception desk to make an appointment with my doctor. I was immediately told that none were available that day (I hadn't actually stated when I wanted my appointment), the booking system wouldn't re-open until 1400 on Monday and I should phone to make an appointment. I was extremely upset by this because 1. Because I am hard of hearing phone calls are anathama to me. 2. The receptionist mumbled incoherently behind the glass screen which was worse than a telephone call. You really do need to train your receptionists better. Talk to the patient, not the computer screen. You put up notices saying rudeness and abuse won't be tolerated yet treat patients who dare to talk to your receptionist with distain. 3. If I can book 'flu and covid jabs weeks in advance, why can't I book a doctor's appointment? In this day and age your booking system should have future availability of doctor's appointment slots readily available. Telling me that your booking system isn't available until 1400 on the next working day beggar's belief.

  5. Review titled Excellent Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Reg Pearce - Posted on 04 October 2022

Super helpful receptionist helped me out by offering to change my online appointment for me as I was struggling. Then messaged me within minutes with new appointment. I wasn't at my best at that time and this kind and efficient lady made my day. It sounds like a small thing but the service ethic and kindness behind the act speaks of an attitude to patients that is pure gold. Thankyou wonderful lady.

  6. Review titled Responsive, supportive doctor

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The care and support I have received from my doctor at Fleet medical centre has been wonderful. The same GP supported my mother's end of life care at home (remotely, as it was during height of lockdown) - in the last few weeks mum's condition was changing on a daily basis and our GP was so responsive and changed prescriptions frequently, as was needed. My GPs communication through texts and calls was clear, helpful, and reassuring. My own experience has been equally good. I have felt heard and understood. All treatment options have been explained, with helpful information on the possible side effects, helping to inform my choices. I feel a genuine warmth and care, despite the undoubted high workload and demands. My family and I have been patients for over 15 years. We have seen a number of doctors. There was only one condition that wasn't managed as we would have liked (7 years ago). But there have been many others which have been exemplary, indeed one life saving when the GP diagnosed an ectopic pregnancy that had been missed by hospital out of hours GP. We often have to wait some weeks for appointments, but they are worth the wait, and I am grateful to all the staff at Fleet medical centre for their patient care.
