Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have left two request requiring a reply or feedback on the surgery website were they state they reply within 5 days. Well a month has gone by with no reply. I have missed a month of prescribed medication and do not know if I'm doing the right thing.

Dear Patient, Please could you email me on swg-tr.hazelwood.admin1@nhs.net with your name so that I can look into this as we use this facility a lot and have not, so far as I have been made aware, had any problems. If there is a problem, I would like to find out why. Many thanks Mandy Roche Practice Manager

Review titled Disappointing
Rated 1 star out of 5

I have previously called the practice to make an appointment. I work full time and would like to be able to book in advance for my day off as I have done for my dentist and ophthalmologist. I was told that these are not available and I can only book on the day. I arrived at the practice at 7.45am this morning and there were 7 people in front of me. By the time I got to the front of the queue there were no appointments left. I had also tried to join the telephone queue whilst I stood in line but that was constantly engaged. My next day off is now 10 days away with no guarantee of a more satisfactory outcome on that day. This is not an emergency, I don’t need 111 or 999 but I do need to see a doctor. I find it astonishing that there is not a facility to prebook an appointment

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback. I am sorry you got the response you go from our reception. We offer a range of appointments from telephone and video consultations to face to face consultations with a variety of clinicians within the practice. We offer these appointments via online pre-bookable telephone consultations via the NHS app, telephone or present on the day, 'contact us' via our website to which you can fully explain what you need and when. We also have a GP and Paramedic working on a Saturday doing some extended access appointments. We are looking at offering face to face appointments in advance and working out how many we can do without taking too many away from immediate and necessary on the day appointments. If you want to speak to reception via the telephone or via the contact link on our website and explain you work and wish for a Saturday appointment in advance, they will be able to accommodate if there are any available up to four weeks in advance.

Review titled Rude Receptionist
Rated 3 stars out of 5

Dr called my Husbands mobile to discuss urgent test results, his mobile for some reason did not ring out to enable him to answer, the Dr left a message for him to call the surgery, which I did on his behalf the next morning. I was told by an extremely rude receptionist that my Husband should of answered his phone, I explained again that he would of done if it had rung out. She asked if he was available to get to the surgery that day I said yes around 5pm - apparently the Drs don't do face to face appointments that late in the day, I was asked why he couldn't get there any earlier - because he is at work, then she had the cheek to say well he can't be that bad if he is at work, I'm absolutely fuming with her. The Doctors and Nurses are good but that particular receptionist let the surgery down big time and no need for that attitude at 8.20am.

Review titled Offputting experience
Rated 3 stars out of 5

Have had good experiences with the practice until now. I had a symptom which the NHS website says you should contact your GP to have investigated. When I got a callback from the surgery, the GP seemed concerned and asked me to come in in person. The in person appointment was with a different doctor, who was very condescending, and told me the symptom was incredibly common (despite the NHS guidance being explicit about it being a potential concern if it happens for the first time over the age of 30). I felt like a total hyperchondriac. He then said any further investigation would have to be done via blood tests, which cost the NHS over £100. I feel that bringing up costs here was very unprofessional. While I understand the NHS is under a lot of financial pressure, I don't understand why this should be used to berate me just for following medical guidance. When I apologised for wasting his time and tried to leave (I was embarrassed as I thought I'd burst into tears, and felt on the verge of a panic attack) he gave me the blood test forms. I now feel really anxious about having blood tests, as I feel so guilty about wasting resources. (Even though people I know who work in the medical field have informed me that £100 is not an accurate cost). I'm worried what is reflected in my notes from this appointment, because if there's anything suggesting I'm a hyperchondriac, I will have more difficulty getting taken seriously in the future. I didn't make a complaint at the time for fear of this being interpreted as being a hyperchondriac. I didn't even want to book that initial appointment - I was pressured by friends who pointed me to the guidance, and really believed I was doing the right thing in potentially heading off more serious issues by acting promptly. I don't trust what the GP wrote in my notes, because I can see on the blood test forms that it says I've only had the symptom once, when it has been a very regular issue. This experience means I am very unwilling to get a GP appointment in the future unless the condition is very serious (as opposed to a general quality-of-life issue, or getting an ambiguous symptom checked up pre-emptively).
