  1. Review titled Fit to fly signature from a GP

by meggymoo - Posted on 17 August 2023

I am 27 weeks pregnant, diabetic and due to fly to France in 3 weeks time. I contacted my midwife to obtain a signature for a fit to fly certificate (insurance purposes). They advised me to contact my GP. I contacted the surgery. After 27 attempts the receptionist answered and I explained what I needed. I was told I would need to see the GP. They made me a non urgent appointment. I took unpaid time off work to attend the GP appointment. On arrival at the the receptionist told me that the GP would not sign the document, nor would they see me. I asked if had not felt that a simple phone call to relay this information would have been appropriate. They shrugged and said contact my obstetrician. I said I don't even know who that is. They shrugged again!

  2. Review titled Great Improvement

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had an appointment yesterday for a persistent ear infection, and I was extremely pleased to get an appointment the same day. The Lady on the phone was really understanding and handled it very professionally. The telephone system has much improved and with shorter waiting times.

  3. Review titled Fabulous people

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Paula Stack - Posted on 26 February 2023

Never had a problem here.Considering the volume of patients they have to help everyday,i think they manage exceptionally well.Everyone is kind. Its easy to forget sometimes that the staff are under alot of pressure.I try very hard to be mindful of that. The doctors and nurses are incredibly good listeners.I worry alot and often need reassurance.I understand that the phonelines are often incredibly busy so i tend to ring them later in the day, which i find much easier. The surgery itself is absolutely lovely.Always warm and very clean.Credit to the cleaning staff for their hard work too.Blood test results in my experience are usually very quick, which is excellent if you worry like i do.

  4. Review titled Some good practice

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Lynda Dyer - Posted on 18 February 2023

I saw a Dr on 2 February and they deserve praise and some positive feedback. The Dr was running behind time, it would seem the surgery had been particularly busy, and there was some very sick patients. Despite this, the Dr took her time to listen to the presenting complaint (which was complex and not a straightforward case), but it never felt rushed. She asked questions and showed empathy whilst also being very professional. She was methodical in explaining her findings clearly and concisely. She informed us of the plan and the reasons for instigating all the tests she had decided to carry out. She was also very thorough in looking through the history of the presenting complaint and picked up on information that had been missed on the previous presentation to another Dr at the practice. She made us feel at ease and also should be commended for her genuine enthusiasm to try and resolve the presenting condition. We felt very reassured and cared for. Her recommendations to the practice were not followed and so she chased this up some days later. Very thorough and all Drs could learn from her.

  5. Review titled I am very pleased

    by wezengf84 - Posted on 11 December 2022

I am very pleased with the treatment that I have received at the Ulcer Clinic. The nurses are very professional but kind, considerate and helpful. At last, my leg ulcer is healing, after having had six months of treatment at a practice surgery. At that surgery, I feel that my ulcer was not healing. Just by chance, by having an appointment with another nurse, who happened to mention that there was an ulcer clinic, I was referred here. I wish that I had started coming here months earlier. I feel that my ulcer would have been healed by now. By putting up with months of attending a general practice clinic three times a week, having sometimes very painful dressings, I feel that this has contributed to my high levels of anxiety, for which I am now having treatment.

  6. Review titled How can this establishment be called a GP practice?

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 December 2022

This establishment is causing more mental health problems than helping patients….. The stress and upset caused by not being able to talk to to or get advice or appointments was bad enough…. But now after 120 attempts alone, just to try to get a ring tone is just beyond acceptable. econsult is never active…. You just get links to 111 and faq ….I’ve been with this surgery for many years…..I’m done!

  7. Review titled Positive review

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by William Davies - Posted on 14 February 2023

Had a situation in December which needed help. Called practice and got thru pretty quickly and was offered advice on the e consult thing. Having completed this I was contacted almost immediately with an appointment the same day. Was seen promptly and courtiously. Have also recently had need to contact Highcroft on behalf of ageing mother and have to say service has been exceptional.

  8. Review titled Diabolical service.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 November 2022

I contacted the surgery around 15 times to speak a doctor or to be seen as I was having fainting episodes. I couldn’t get through so had to phone 111 and go to an urgent care centre and they ran numerous tests. I then tried to contact the doctors afterwards as I needed book blood tests. The surgery then failed to ring me via a phone call appointment so I had to book another which they then failed to ring back. I then took it upon myself to visit the surgery yesterday to ensure I would get a phone call and they said yes but I did not get a call again. There are no words, speechless.

  9. Review titled Need to move ASAP

Rated 1 star out of 5

This surgery is appalling! You cannot get an appointment however you try, rude receptionists asking personal questions, constantly cut off when I got to one in the cue position then they blame it on the phone system, seriously this practice has let patients down and still using covid as an excuse

  10. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 November 2022

It's the best surgery I have been to. The staff here go above the beyond to help patients. I understand some staff are new and are in training, as we all are at some stage in our lives. The doctors here are so helpful and call their patients even late in evening, if they are not able to contact during the day time. I can see they are very innovative with qr codes on prescription boxes downstairs and health kiosk next to reception. I regularly check my blood pressure at this kiosk which is automatically saved to my computer notes. If it's outside range a alert is sent to nurses. I love the econsult system and literally sent one while on the bus and within 2 hrs got a phone call back. I even had a video call with a GP. I thought all this is only provided by private GPs. I am very grateful for staff at Highcroft Surgery looking after me and my family.
